        Balanced Allocation of Bridge Deck Maintenance Budget Through Multi-objective Optimization

        Multi-objective optimization method for the allocation of bridge deck Maintenance, Repair, and Rehabilitation (MR&R) budget is proposed using Bridge Management System (BMS) models. In single-objective optimization method, the objective function is usually either total annual MR&R budget or structurally deficient deck area which must be minimized with given annual budget. These objective functions are minimized with constraints, and the solution methods are well-known for the most cases. In multiobjective optimization, objective functions can be the structurally deficient deck area as well as annual MR&R budget. Since structurally deficient deck area and level of annual deck MR&R budget are closely interrelated, State agencies need the method to balance the investment-deck improvement trade-off. This paper uses multi-objective optimization technique with linearly weighted sum method to find balanced MR&R alternatives for the network of bridge decks. Data obtained from Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) are used to validate the feasibility of application of multi-objective optimization for the maintenance of bridge decks.

        파동간섭효과를 고려한 다층 박막 구조의 광학특성에 대한 수치해석 연구

        - The present study is devoted to investigate numerically the optical characteristics of multi-layer thin film structures such as Si/SiO2 and Ge/Si/SiO2 by using the characteristic transmission matrix method. The reflectivity and the absorptivity rate for thin film structures are estimated for different incident angles of rays and various film thicknesses. In addition, the influence of wavelength on optical characteristics related to complex refractive index is examined. It is found that such wave-like characteristics are observed in predicting reflectivities and depends mainly on film thickness. Moreover, the present study predicts the film thickness for ignoring wave interference effects, and it also discusses the fundamental physics behind optical and energy absorption characteristics appearing in multi-layer thin film structures.

        생활체육시설의 지역 간 격차에 따른 19세 이상 인구의 우울증상

        Background: Depression is a common disease around the world. Many studies are showing that mental health can be improvedthrough physical activity, and daily regular exercise can reduce the negative effects of depression or depressive symptoms. In orderto promote individual physical activity, a physical activity-friendly environment must precede. Therefore, this study attempted toconfirm whether the number of sports facilities for all affects individual depression. Methods: Among the respondents to the 2018 Community Health Survey, data from 181,086 people excluding missing value wereused. Descriptive and chi-square tests were performed to understanding the general characteristics of individual level variables. Amultilevel logistic regression was conducted to confirm the effect of individual and regional level variables on depressive symptoms. Results: As a result of confirming the effect of individual characteristics on depressive symptoms, it was confirmed that bothsocioeconomic and health behavior factors had an effect. Similar results were shown in a model that considered regional levelvariables, and in the case of the number of sports facilities per population, people who belongs to smaller areas were more likely tohave depressive symptoms (odds ratio, 0.98; 95% confidence interval, 0.97–0.99). Conclusion: As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that both individual level and regional level variables had a significant effecton depressive symptoms. This suggests that not only individual level approaches but also regional level approaches are needed toimprove individual depressive symptoms In particular, it may be possible to consider to increase the number of sports facilities inareas where the prevalence of depressive symptoms is high and the number of sports facilities is insufficient.

        Condition Assessment of Bridge Elements Using Field Tests

        The basis for the condition assessment of bridge elements using Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) methods is presented. In bridge inspection with NDE methods, assessments are the percent of total inspected area interpreted as damaged. The condition assessment of a bridge element by point application of NDE methods is function of how the method is applied, how the physical quantity the method is using correlates with damage, and how the individual point applications are interpreted. An inspection method is a reliable indicator of damage if it succeeds in correctly identifying damage in bridge elements. The assessment of an inspected bridge element and reliability of this assessment is investigated by considering application of tests, correlation of the physical quantity with damage, and interpretation of tests.

        비파괴 시험을 이용한 RC 구조물 상태진단

        비파괴 시험을 이용한 RC 구조물의 진단에 있어서 비파괴 측정값의 적절한 해석을 통해서만 현 구조물의 상태진단이 가능하다. 보다 정확한 구조물의 상태진단은 비파괴 시험의 정밀성, 변이성 등과 같은 여러 가지 요소에 의하여 좌우된다. 특히 비파괴 시험을 이용한 측정값과 구조물의 상태에 있어서의 불확실성은 정밀한 상태진단에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 논문은 현재 사용이 증가되고 있는 비파괴 장비의 올바른 선택과 정확한 구조물의 진단을 위하여, 비파괴 측정값의 확률적 해석법의 기초를 제공하고 있다. Mathematical basis of interpretation of data from nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods in condition assessment of structures is presented. In structural inspection with NDE methods, NDE data are not directly used for the condition assessment. Instead, NDE data must be interpreted as condition of inspected element. Correct assessments of conditions depend on many factors such as the inaccuracy and the variability in NDE measurements and the uncertainty in correlation between attributes (what is measured) and conditions (what is sought in the inspection). A full description of the performance of NDE methods considers the relation of test data to conditions of elements. The quality of the test itself is important, but equally important is the interpretation that occurs after the test. The effects of variability in test data and uncertainty in correlations of attributes and conditions are presented in three examples of field testing methods.

        Bare-chip packaging becomes more popular along with the miniaturization of IT components. In this paper, we have studied flip-chip process, and developed automated bonding system. Among the several bonding method, NCP bonding is chosen and batch-type equipment is manufactured. The dual optics and vision system aligns the chip with the substrate. The bonding head equipped with temperature and force controllers bonds the chip. The system can be easily modified fer other bonding methods such as ACF.

        지선모반에서 발생한 결합조직형성 모종

        Purpose: Desmoplastic trichilemmoma is a rare variant of trichilemmoma. Histologically, it has a typical characteristic of trichilemmoma with epithelium of central portion and dense fibrous interstitium. There are only 4 reported cases of desmoplastic trichilemmoma arised in a nevus sebaceus, so we present a case of desmoplastic trichilemmoma arised in a nevus sebaceus with literature review.Methods: A 46-year-old female was clinically diagnosed as nevus sebaceous on left side of the forehead. Considering the facial contour, the mass was totally excised elliptically and direct closure was feasible with undermining subcutaneous layer.Results: Pathology report confirmed desmoplastic trichilemmoma developed from a nevus sebaceus and all tumor margins were negative. There were no evidences of tumor recurrence after surgical treatment.Conclusion: Desmoplastic trichilemmoma developed from a nevus sebaceus is a very rare tumor. Variant tumors can be developed from nevus sebaceus, so surgeon should be cautious in excising the mass totally and confirm the final pathology report.
