To decrease neck injury in low speed rear-end collision, Whiplash test is conducted by KNCAP since 2008. The Whiplash test is performed according to test procedure proposed by KNCAP. Neck injury criteria, Head Contact Time, Head Rebound Velocity, NIC, Nkm, upper neck Fx, upper neck Fz, T1 X acceleration are measured by BioRID Ⅱ dummy. In this study, whiplash test data is analysed from 2009 to 2011 and the trend of decreasing neck injuries is considered.

Whiplash injuries of the neck are one of the most common injuries reported from automotive rear impacts. We are having an effort to reduce the whiplash injuries. So, U.S. announced the FMVSS 202a which is a powerful regulation concerning head restraints in 2004. This study looked into the FMVSS 202a and tested two seats, domestic products, following the FMVSS 202a laboratory test procedures. As results of the test, Backset requirement, height retention requirement, and backset retention requirement is not satisfied. These unsatisfied requirements are newly introduced in head restraint regulation FMVSS 202a. Domestic car makers must work hard to satisfy the strong regulation on head restraints.

This study focused on how to children"s crashworthiness evaluate in a traffic accident. Especially, children using Child Restraint Systems seated on rear seats are the object of study. ECE R.44, UN New Regulation on Child Restraint System, FMVSS 213, and KS Standards reviewed and compared. Tests were performed with KS standards and UN New Regulation, and then results of test analyzed. By test results, children"s crashworthienss is very weak in the side impact. In side impact test results, head and chest injury value is in excess of the injury criteria. In conclusion, it is needed to introduce the child restraint systems regulation in Korea.

In the recent years, a large effort has been conducted to the investigation of injury mechanisms and injury tolerance criteria related to whiplash injury. Nevertheless, many questions, especially related to injury criteria and their respective biomechanical tolerance levels, remain unresolved. Form the research, BioRIDIIg is better then HybridIII and RID dummy. But, the issues of repeatability and reproducibility become more important in these low-rear impact test conditions on BioRIDIIg. In this study, a series of sled tests was conducted to assess the influence of several test parameters on the reproducibility of results obtained with the BioRIDIIg. The sled tests were performed according to the test procedure proposed by KNCAP. Neck injury indicators, NIC, Nkm, upper & lower Fx, upper & lower Fz, T1 X acc, Head X acc, were analysis by each dummy. The results show that some criteria like the neck shear force exhibit C.V.(coefficient variation) up to 20.

Recently hydrogen fuel cell buses have been deployed for the public transportations. In order to introduce buses fueled by hydrogen successfully, the research results of hydrogen bus safety should be discussed and investigated significantly. Especially, Korean government drives research in terms of various applications of hydrogen energy to replace the conventional fuel energy resources and to improve the safety evaluation. Thus it is necessary to examine vehicle crashworthiness under side impact loadings. This study was focused on the simulation result evaluation of full bus model and simplified bus model with hydrogen fuel tank module and mounting system located below floor structure due to the significance of bus side impact accidents. The finite element models of hydrogen bus, fuel tank system and side impact moving barrier were set up and simulation results reported model performance and result comparison of two side impact models. Computational results and research discussion showed the conceptual side impact framework to evaluate hydrogen bus crashworthiness.

Normally when the test performed according to regulations or test protocols, there were impossible to same test conditions because test engineers and test equipments were different. The relevant regulations allow for such tolerance, and thus tests are conducted with an appropriate margin of test conditions. The tolerance is very important in determining whether the results is appropriate or not, if the result of the test will vary depending on the tolerance of test conditions. In particular, for tests with BioRID Ⅱ, in which dummy models are used to measure and assess whiplash injury of occupants in low-speed rear-end collision, test engineer must be cautious with the tolerances, because the BioRID Ⅱ dummy model has not yet been completely verified. This purpose of this study is to propose a methodology, which is to find an appropriate tolerances in test conditions for using artificial neural network(ANN) using BioRID Ⅱ. As it is difficult to completely reproduce the conditions of a test, suggest the following method, in which the results for the deviation of test results are measured by using an design of experiment and the artificial neural network method, and the tolerance of test conditions is determined to reduce such deviation. With this approach using ANN, it is possible to find an optimum tolerances in test conditions efficiently case of whiplash test protocol in KNCAP(Korea New Car Assessment Program).
