In order to improve the automotive aerodynamic performance of a passenger car, a rear diffuser is widely used. Since the flow separation point varies with velocity variation, a rear diffuser angle should be changed with the velocity of automotive vehicle for better performance. The Ahmed body of which rear slanted upper surface is 35° was used and numerical analysis was conducted at the velocity from 30 ㎧ to 45 ㎧ with an interval of 5 ㎧. The optimal rear diffuser angle performing the best aerodynamic drag reduction at those velocities is suggested and the results can be used for developing an active rear diffuser.
