The present study was conducted with an rum to analyze the factors that have impacts upon military morale and utilize the outcomes for promoting fighting strength and efficiency. Based on the understanding to the exchange theory that suggests that morale can be lifted when an individual maintains a close relation with an organization, the focus of this study was laid on determining what kind of correlation incentives may have with morale at the individual as well as organizational level. For this aim, data were collected from the population of field officers including colonels, lieutenant colonels and majors. The collected data were put to regression analysis to explore to what extent incentives may affect morale at each level. The findings of the study might be summed up as follows: First, the morale of members of an organization was found to be most strongly influenced by the symbolic incentives, among others by the opportunity for growth. Second, the symbolic incentives also turned out to be the factor influencing individual morale most strongly. Third, the regression analysis into morale and demographic variances revealed that demographic variance had little impact to account for morale. In conclusion, this study showed that, although morale may have two facets of dimensions, no morale could be defined at any level by symbolic or social and material incentives only, but morale might be rather raised by the sense of unity or attachment of members to the organization they belong to the maximum.
