This paper investigates whether there is a relationship between international tourism and trade flows using the data of Korea and three important travel and trading partners, Japan, China and the USA Using cointegration and error-correction models the paper finds support for prior beliefs that there is a relationship between international tourism and trade. Findings indicate a two-way Granger causality between international travel and trade. Thus, previous tourism forecasting studies using a single equation approach may lead to biased estimates since they fail to consider possible simultaneity bias or feedback effects between international tourism and trade. In addition, these results may further suggest redirecting appropriate policies between tourism and trade.

TThis paper tries to investigate that the costs of visiting festival positively affect visitors' satisfaction in order to explore the possibility of applying a Cognitive Dissonance Theory by Festinger in the festival market. The results tentatively identify that the festival visitors may have some efforts to decrease their internal conflicts by showing the causal relationship between the costs and the satisfaction. The visitors for 2005 Songi-Festival were used for the analysis. <표 5>와 같다. 표본의 평균 방문자 비용은 54,150원이고 만족도는 휴식공간에 대한 만족도가 3.65로 가장 낮고 접근성에 대한 만족도가 5.58로 가장 높게 나타났다.<표 5> 변수 요약구 분평균

This study estimates the value of agricultural landscape as a tourist attraction. Recently, the landscape of buckwheat farm in Bongpyeong, Pyeongchang county has more important role than the crop's production for the improvement of the regions's economy and image. A contingent ranking method that is known for an effective tool is used to calculate the value. The result shows that the willingness to pay(WTP) on the buckwheat farm in Bongpyeong is 2,481 won per person and the value of each one hundred thousand pyeongs is 827 won. The findings of the paper will provide useful information for tourism development and management policies of the region.

Over the past decade, the demand for tourism in Jeju Island, a nature-based tourist destination, has risen sharply, and the rapid growth within a short period of time has caused various problems. For this reason, the tourism industry in Jeju, which has depended on quantitative growth, needs to constantly monitor and identify the demand trend In order to shift its management goal to qualitative growth. This study analyzed the changes of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Jeju Island since the year 2000 and predicted tourism demand for the next five years. First, as a result of analyzing the trend of changes in the tourism demand in Jeju, foreign demand was very sensitive to fluctuation of demand due to external factors such as infectious diseases and political issues compared to domestic demand, which contributed to increase instability of the Jeju tourism industry. Also, domestic demand has turned out to be opposite in the period when foreign demand declines or surges rapidly. Moreover, a vector error correction model (VECM) was used for demand forecasting, and GDP and WTI were used as the determinants of demand. As a result of the demand forecast, the demand for tourism in Jeju will exceed 20 million in 2023, and reasonable countermeasures should be prepared. 지난 10여 년간 제주도는 관광수요가 급격히 상승하였고, 자연자원 의존도가 높은 관광지인 제주도의 특성상 단기간 내 이루어진 고성장은 여러 가지 문제점을 야기하고 있다. 그 동안 양적 성장에 의존해 온 제주도의 관광산업이 질적인 성장으로 관리목표를 전환하기 위해서는 먼저 관광수요에 대한 지속적인 동향 파악과 모니터링이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 2000년 이후 제주도를 방문한 내·외국인 관광객에 대한 변화 추이를 분석하고, 향후 5년간의 수요를 예측하였다. 먼저, 제주관광수요의 변화 추이를 분석한 결과, 외국인 수요는 내국인 수요에 비해 전염병, 정치적 이슈 등 외부적 요인에 의해 수요 변동이 매우 민감하게 나타나 제주 관광산업의 불안정성을 높이는 요인으로 작용하고 있었다. 또한 외국인수요가 급감하거나 급증하는 시기에 내국인 수요는 반대방향으로 나타나고 있다는 특징도 나타났다. 한편 수요예측을 위한 분석에는 벡터오차수정모형(VECM)을 이용하였고 수요결정요인으로 GDP와 WTI를 사용하였다. 수요예측 결과, 2023년 제주관광수요는 2천만 명을 넘어설 것으로 나타나 이에 대한 대응방안이 마련되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

This study discusses the travel cost method(ITCM) related to data characteristics such as count and on-site survey data. In this paper, several econometric models were estimated and compared using on-site survey data from Hyo-Seok Cultural Festival in Pyeongchang county. In order to identify any bias stemming from the characteristics of the data, the paper uses Poisson model, truncated Poisson model which accounts for the truncated nature of the data, and endogenously stratified Poisson model which solves the endogenous stratification problem resulting from the over-sampling of avid users. The empirical application shows that the truncated Poisson and endogenously stratified Poisson models yield better goodness-of-fit and parameter estimations compared with the standard Poisson model. To find out the dynamic effects on international tourism demand for Koreans by the structure of age group, the study tried to estimate multi-transfer function model. However, the purpose could not be achieved. One of the main reasons may have come from some out-layers of the data. In spite of the undesirable results, the study has some significances: One is using the structure of age group, one of the important demographical variables, as a determinant factor of international tourism demand, the other is considering the effect of time lag on the demand.

In spite of many emerging researches on the website nowadays, the area on the experiences of the tourist-purpose website still remains a ‘less traveled’ one. This paper examines the differences in the experience structure between tourist-purpose and nontourist-purpose website users by applying the flow concept. Authors presumed that the structure of flow experience between tourist and non-tourist website users would be differentiated by the characteristics of the website and of users. However, empirical investigation reveals that there is no significant difference statistically in the structure between the two experimental groups. This result implies that there is not any significant difference in attributes between the two websites.
