태음조위탕(太陰調胃湯)과 전기침(電氣鍼) 병행치료의 비만에 대한 효과

We wanted to study the effect of Taeyeumjowee-tang and electroacupunctre combined-therapy on obese patients. From 1 March, 2000 to 30, September, 2000 we studied 33 out-ward patients who clinically diagnosed obesity and classified Tae-Em-In by QSCC(Questionnaire of Sasang Constitution Classification). We treated the patients by electroacupuncture therapy and taeyeumjowee-tang for 6 weeks, We investigated the change of mean body weight, mean body mass index, mean obesity degree, percent body fat and waist-hip circumference ratio. To analyze the results we used repeat measure method by SPSS ver 7.5. The results were as follows: 1. From $70.4{\pm}11.4\;to\;64.9{\pm}8.7$, mean body weight was significantly decreased according to combined-therapy. 2. From $27.2{\pm}3.2\;to\;24.6{\pm}2.7$, mean BMI was significantly decreased according to combined-therapy. 3. From $116.7{\pm}13.9\;to\;104.4{\pm}12.1$, mean obesity degree was significantly decreased according to combined-therapy. 4. From $32.1{\pm}6.8\;to\;27.4{\pm}7.5$, percent body fat was significantly decreased according to combined-therapy. 5. From $0.90{\pm}0.06\;to\;$0.86{\pm}0.06$, waist-hip circumference ratio was significantly decreased according to combined-therapy. In this study we knew the combined-therapy of electroacupuncture and taeyeumjowee-tang is very efficient in obese patient.

The present study was performed on 15 patients of Bell's palsy who had one more symptoms and signs of postauricular pain, taste disorder and dry eye at the initial examination, without any herpes zoster oticus, trauma or tumor, who had a series of electroacupuncture treatment from 15 January 1998 through 30 May 1998. Patients were evaluated weekly from the first treatment to judged full recovery or until the 7th week of the treatment. The patient's facial nerve recovery was evaluated by the House-Brackmann facial nerve grading scales. This system involves making measurements of the movement of the forehead, eyebrow and corner of the mouth and comparing the results with those on the unaffected side. By applying the House-Brackmann facial nerve grading scales the patient's facial nerve recovery Was evaluated weekly from the first treatment to judged full recovery or until the 7th week of the treatment. 86.79% of the patients were recovered completely within 6 weeks and the mean length of the healing period was 4.2 weeks.

1. Study Design The present study retrospectively investigated the morphologic changes on CT and clinical outcome of patients with low back pain resulting from HNP(herniated nucleus pulposus) during Chuna treatment(flexion/distraction technique). 2. Patients The study population consisted of 50 patients(11 patients: in hospital, 39 patients: outpatient clinic) with low back pain who were already diagnosed as HNP of lumbar spine with serial MRIs(magnetic resonance imagings) or CTs(computed tomographic scans). 3. Method All patients were treated with flexion/distraction technique, one of Chuna techniqae. Among them, eight cases of 11 patients in hospital were examined twice using computed tomographie scans. And the evaluation of clinical outcome was done twice during this study. 4. Results 1. In CT follow-up study of eight cases of Chuna treatment, diminution of HNP on CT has been recognized in 3 cases. 2. During this study, the common points of the patients who were observed morphologic changes on CT were as follows. 1) Young age(one was 17 years old, another was 22 years old, the other s 36 years old). 2) Acute or subacute stage.(within 6 months) 3) Bulging(or Protusion) disc with central protrusion at L4-5. 3. Flexion/distraction technique had a significant effect on improvement of clinical findings. 4. Cinical finding of young age were better than that of old age. 5. Cinical findings of acute stage were better than that of chronic stage, but no significant correlation was observed between morphologic changes of HNP on CT and the duration of low back pain.
