In the study. I tried to explain the woman-consciousness in the 1970's novels. This is related to researches into problems that Jeong was concerned with essence of human being and unequal women's life in man-central society and custom since 1950s. I chose 6 short stories focused on woman characters among 1970's novels. I will study on this tendency of works. Therefore I will know that Jeong was described problems of woman's existence through the woman's sense with focused on woman's characters. Differently from her emotional description of existent life and human relationships in 1950s and 1960s. Jeong was concerned with woman's problems in 1970s. In the works of 「The Waiting room」,「Jung-um-sin」 and 「Thing without Mind」 the woman's characters were described with women that remote from human relationship because of insecure reality and industrial society. In the works of 「The Enclosed Freedom」 「Like a Visitor」 and 「The Net bevond」 the woman's characters were described with women that pursuit of subjective self. Jeong raised questions of woman's reality that appeared women's limit aspects in man and woman relationship and dependent on men or remote from man-central society. I invesgated that woman-consciousness and critical societyconsciousness of Jeong through her 6 works. This mean that Jeong described woman's characters in 1970's novels through the works of woman-existence's conviction and the endless self-consciousness of woman's real problems.

In this thesis, I studied on meaning of characters's death that appeared in Son Chang-Seep's novels around 1950' s Generally in Korean novels of the 1950's appearances of death related to viewpoint of living or reality as well as death itself. So I tried to interpreted death of Son's novels concerning about theme of his works. First of all, in The Recording a Reason of Death, death showed resistance to tragic destiny of characters that was poor and injured by Korean war. Secondly, death that appeared in Alive reflected insecurity about reality and existence-consciousness in post-war time. In this work characters know the fact that death is certain future and existence of human-being premise the absurd of reality. Thirdly, in The Will of Foam death showed possibility of human's help. In Son Chang-Seop's novels around 1950's, appearances of death reflected an injury to the mind in post-war or a solution of problems in the absurd reality more than experience of war itself, Therefore I think that Son Chang-Seop showed tragic fatalism as well as crisis-consciousness about the absurd death. But this means his effort that tried to showed worth death or vision of life for overcoming problems of reality in his works.
