본 연구는 문헌연구를 통해 한국 남자골프의 40년 역사를 알아보고자 하였다. 독립 이후, 한국 사회는 외세로부터 빼앗겼던 환경을 재건하는데 있어서 큰 향상을 기대하였다. 80년대와 90년대에 새로 형성된 골프 대회의 우승 상금은 국내 프로 골프 대회의 부활을 증가 시켰다. 21세기 이후 골프대회는 급성장하게 되었고, 더 높은 수준에 도달했다. 이처럼 한국 골프대회에 적극적으로 참여하고 있는 많은 선수들이 국내대회와 국제대회에서 활발히 활동하고 있다. 이러한 한국 남자 프로골퍼의 선전은 세계프로골프 무대에서 한국 남자골퍼들의 위상을 높임과 동시에 국위선양에도 크게 기여했다. 또한, 국내 골프 계의 발전은 물론 국민적 관심을 확산시키면서 골프의 저변확대와 골프 대중화를 가져오는 결정적 계기가 되었다. 따라서 우리나라 골프 대중화에 앞서 골프역사를 제대로 이해하고 골프에 대한 편견 없는 사회인식을 형성하는 것이 무엇보다 중요한 과제일 것이다. 더 나아가서 골프가 정신적, 육체적인 건강을 위해 얼마나 유용한 스포츠인가를 이해하면서 생활 스포츠로서 활용하고 발전시켜 나가야 할 것이다. This study was done in order to recognize the history of men golf of 40 years, by using the sources such as news papers, magazines, books, and was drawn to a conclusion. After the restoration of independence, the Korean society was being rebuilt by the sources from foreign forces and anticipates improving in deprived environments. In the 80s and 90s, the winning prize for newly formed golf tournaments increased, which it was the revival of Korean professional golf tournament. After the 21st century the traditional golf tournaments were rebounded and many new ones were formed, which their size and quality reached to a higher level. The Korean tour is in its puberty era that many players now actively play in both foreign countries and the mother land. Having demonstrated great capability in the world pro golf tournament, the Korean pro golfers not only enhanced national prestige but also upgraded the status of Korean male golfers to a higher level. In addition, they contributed in the development of golf in South Korea and increased South Korean citizens` level of interest in golf: they definitely provided an opportunity to popularize the sport. Thus, before golf becomes even more popular in South Korea, clear understanding of golf and creation of a social recognition with no prejudice about golf is the most important job given to everyone. Furthermore, while understanding the fact that golf is a useful sport that benefits both mental and physical health, one should apply the usefulness of golf in real life and contribute in the development.
