This paper examines the stiffness which should be considered during thrust vector control system design of launch vehicles. By investigating several foreign launch vehicle data, case studies for thrust vector control stiffness requirements are accomplished and the results are summarized. It is also shown that, based upon the analysis results, a suitable level of thrust vector control stiffness required for KSLV-Ⅱ can be suggested. The results in this paper will be used as a basis data to evaluate the development requirements of KSLV-Ⅱ thrust vector control systems.

This paper deals with the controllability requirements of upper stage control systems of launch vehicles. Several foreign launch vehicles which apply the thrust vector control system and the reaction control system for the upper stage attitude control are investigated and analyzed in terms of controllability. Based upon the investigation, a suitable level of controllability requirements of KSLV-Ⅱ upper stage is examined. The results in this paper will be used as a basis data to design the upper stage control systems of KSLV-Ⅱ.
Vol.2014 No.11
This paper deals with attitude control characteristics of launch vehicle reaction control system which use a saturation function in its control logic. The saturation functions which guarantee stable attitude control are derived as a function of disturbances. It is shown that a saturation function can be selected to decrease fuel consumption of reaction control system while keeping the total time required for attitude control as near optimum.
