        고전소설 속 도적들의 근거지로서의 해도 공간 연구

        본 논문은 <홍길동전><허생전><김학공전><서해무릉기>를 대상으로 하여 고전소설 속 도적들의 근거지로서의 해도 공간의 형상화 방식과 그 기능을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. <홍길동전><허생전><김학공전><서해무릉기>에서 해도 공간이 도적들의 근거지로 설정될 수 있었던 것은 조선 후기 유민의 입도 현상과 입도민에 대한 부정적 인식 그리고 해도 지역의 풍요로운 자연 환경과 경제적 기반을 배경으로 하는데, 이러한 시대적 배경은 작품에도 반영되어 있다. <홍길동전><허생전><김학공전><서해무릉기>의 해도 공간은 공통적으로 도적들의 근거지로 설정되어 있지만, 각 작품의 지향하는 바가 다르기에 작품에 설정된 해도 공간의 형상화 방식 또한 변별된다. <홍길동전>의 율도국은 조선왕에 대한 대항의 공간으로, <허생전>의 공도는 조선의 폐쇄적 유통 구조를 입증하는 공간으로, <김학공전>과 <서해무릉기>의 계도섬과 서해무릉은 각각 신분상승과 애정성취에 대한 도적들의 욕망이 좌절되는 공간으로 형상화되어 있다. 또한 <홍길동전>과 <허생전>의 해도 공간은 국외로, <김학공전>과 <서해무릉기>의 해도 공간은 국내로 설정되어 있는데, 이러한 차이는 작품에서 수행하는 해도 공간의 기능과 연관된 것이다. <홍길동전>과 <허생전>의 율도국과 공도는 집권층의 특권 의식과 조선의 통치 체제를 비판하며, <김학공전>의 계도섬은 저항 세력을 비판하며 신분제도로 대표되는 중세 봉건 지배 질서를 옹호하고 <서해무릉기>의 서해무릉은 무뢰한과 같은 조선 후기 부유ㆍ부랑 집단의 정착 의지를 반영하는 기능을 수행한다는 점에서 그러하다. This study on the sea island space as bandits base in <Hong-Gil- Dong-Jeon><Heo-Saeng-Jeon><Kim-Hak-Gong-Jeon><Seo-Hae-Mu-Reung-Gi>. What sea island space was created as bandits base in these novels are as follows. First wandering people go in to sea island and they were negatively perceived to people. Second natural environment of sea island was plenteous. So economic base of sea island was prepared than inland. Because these vintage background was sea island space was created as bandits base in <Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon><Heo-Saeng-Jeon><Kim-Hak-Gong-Jeon><Seo-Hae-Mu-Reung-Gi>. But these novels creative manner of sea island space was different. The sea island space of <Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon> is Je-Do island and Yul- Do-Guk. These sea island space are created oppositive space against king of Jo-Seon Dynasty. Gong-Do of <Heo-Saeng-Jeon> is created to prove cleidoic distribution structure of Jo-Seon Dynasty. Ge-Do island of <Kim-Hak-Gong-Jeon> and Seo-Hae-Mu-Reung of <Seo-Hae-Mu-Reung- Gi> are created to affection conflict and solution. The sea island space of <Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon><Heo-Saeng-Jeon> are created overseas and sea island space of <Kim-Hak-Gong-Jeon><Seo- Hae-Mu-Reung-Gi> are created internal. The sea island space of <Hong- Gil-Dong-Jeon><Heo-Saeng-Jeon> are responsible for criticize conscious of the privilege of hierarchy and ruling system of Jo-Seon Dynasty. And the sea island space of <Kim-Hak-Gong-Jeon> is to act as criticize away from male and female servants and protect medieval feudalism like caste system. The sea island space of <Seo-Hae-Mu-Reung-Gi> is reflected settlement will of floatingㆍvagrancy-group as rogue.

        조선 시대 <서유기>의 개작 양상과 그 소설사적 의미

        본 논문은 조선 시대 유입된 중국 장편 소설 <서유기>의 개작 양상과 개작 양상에 내포된 소설사적 의미를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. <서유기>는 한글로 번역되어 원본과 동일한 필사본으로 향유되었다. 이러한 국문 필사본을 저본으로 하여 개작된 단편이 경판 <서유기>와 <당태종전><손오공>이다. 경판 <서유기>는 <서유기>에서 많은 비중을 차지하는 삼장 일행과 요괴들이 대결하는 삽화를 선별하여 재구성하고 축약한 개작본이다. 그리고 <당태종전>은 태종에 대한 비판과 그 극복의 서사로, <손오공>은 長生不死의 욕망 추구를 위한 손오공의 활약상을 극대화하는 방향으로 <서유기>를 개작한 단편 소설이다. 장편 소설 <서유기>를 단편 소설로 개작한 경판 <서유기>와 <당태종전><손오공>은 20세기에 이르러 <서유기>의 대중성을 유도하는 역할을 했다. 그리고 조선에서 <서유기>는 주로 고구려를 침략한 당나라 태종에 대한 비판적 시각이 부각된 <당태종전>으로 향유되었다. 이러한 현상은 <당태종전>이 조선인들의 민족자존 의식에 의해 <서유기>가 자국화된 작품임을 제시한다. This paper is a study on the adaptation aspect and novel historical meaning in <Seo-Yu-Gi> of Jo-Seon Dynasty. <Seo-Yu-Gi> is Chinese novel that is introduced in Jo-Seon Dynasty. <Seo-Yu-Gi> got to read manuscript and it is adapted to Seoul Block Printed and <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon><Son-O-Gong>. The manuscripts of <Seo-Yu-Gi> are long-novel. But Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> and <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon><Son-O-Gong> are short-novel. The adaptation of <Seo-Yu-Gi> are based on manuscripts. Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> is adapted to reconstruction and contraction of episode. And <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> is adapted around Tae-Jong``s story in <Seo-Yu-Gi>. But critical point of view about Tae-Jong is embossed in <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon>. Also <Son-O-Gong> is adapted around Son-O-Gong``s activity before he was locked in Mt. O-Haeng. Son-O-Gong take an active part to pursue desire before he was locked in Mt. O-Haeng. So Son-O-Gong``s was embossed activity of the pursuit of desire in <Son-O-Gong>. Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> and <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> <Son-O-Gong> are adaptation of <Seo-Yu-Gi>. Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> is published in late 19th and <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> <Son-O-Gong> is published in early 20th. <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> and a printed book of <Seo-Yu-Gi> are reprinted. The printed book of <Seo-Yu-Gi> is also published in early 20th. But Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> and <Son-O-Gong> do not reprinted. Therefore Seoul Block Printed of <Seo-Yu-Gi> and <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon><Son-O-Gong> are led popularization of <Seo-Yu-Gi> in 20th. And <Seo-Yu-Gi> is mainly enjoyed to <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> in Jo-Seon Dynasty. <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> is adapted around 9·10·12·14~19· 98~100th inning narrative of <Seo-Yu-Gi>. Besides alternate version of <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> is very various. Accordingly <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> is domestication novel. Tae-Jong invaded Koguryo three times during 23years but Tae-Jong be completely defeated. Therefore <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon> is domestication novel by national self-esteem consciousness.

        경판 <쌍주기연>의 대중화 양상과 그 소설사적 의미

        이 논문은 경판 <쌍주기연>의 대중화 양상과 소설사적 의미를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 경판 <쌍주기연>이 대중성을 확보하여 지속적으로 출간되고 활자본이 출간될 수 있었던 것은 19세기 중반에서 20세기 초에 걸친 기간 동안 귀족적 영웅소설과 애정소설이 획득한 대중성과 경판 33장본 <쌍주기연>의 대중적인 성향으로 인한 것이다. 경판 <쌍주기연>은 귀족적 영웅소설과 애정소설의 속성이 공존하는 작품이지만 대중성을 확보하는 과정에서 귀족적 영웅소설의 성격은 약화되고 애정소설의 성격이 부각되면서 보수적인 성향은 다소 약화되었다. 이러한 경판 <쌍주기연>의 대중화 양상은 대중성을 확보한 소설의 유형과 성향이 변모하고 활자본 <삼생기연>이 출현하는 동인이 되었다는 소설사적 의미를 부여할 수 있다. This paper is a study on the aspects and its meanings of novel history in <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> of Seoul block printed. Seoul Block Printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> contain type of aristocratic hero-novels, love-novels. Type of aristocratic hero-novels love-novels are very popular from the mid-19th century to beginning of the 20th century. And Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> of 33 sheets version have popularity. So Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> was consistently able to have popularity from the mid-19th century to beginning of the 20th century. And Seoul block printed of 33 sheets version become original script of 32ㆍ22ㆍ16 sheets version and a printed book. These course is prescribe to popularization of Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> in this paper. Seoul block printed of 33 sheets version and 32 sheets version are different from an end. But the end of 33ㆍ22ㆍ16 sheets version are sameness. And Seo Chen Hng and Wang Hye Ryun's narrative of love is strengthen in Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> of 22 and 16 sheets version. And Seo Chen Hng's a heroic activity is reduced and aspects of love-novels are embossed in seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> of 22 and 16 sheets version. Also suffering of yang-ban women are strengthen in <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> of printed book and activities of lowly women are magnified. So conservatism of <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> is diminished in printed book more than Seoul block printed. Therefore popularity course of Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> reveal transformation of popularity novel type and inclination. The type was changed from aristocratic hero-novels to love-novels. Aristocratic hero-novels is conservative. But love-novels is progressive. And popu-larity of Seoul block printed <Ssang-Ju-Gi-Yeon> cause printed book <Sam-Saeng-Gi-Yeon> and manuscript of <Ssang-Yeol-Ok-So-Rok> <Ssang-Yeol-Ok-So-Sam-Bong>.

        <숙향전>의 개작 양상과 그 의식 : 박순호 소장 43장본 <숙향젼이라>를 대상으로

        This thesis inquires into the adapted aspects and consciousness in Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk-Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra>. First, Gyeongsan of the Shilla was Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk-Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra> of scene and it used a dialect of North Gyeongsang. Suk-Hyang s status was lowed and aggravated complications of the affection in Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk-Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra>. It was uesd narrative structure and literary style of Pansori. Second, a region of specific character was reflected and was highly probable in Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk-Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra>. And a critical mind was exposed directly. Also Suk-Hyang s suffering was embossed. It was kindled readers emotion. Judging from this adapter of Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk- Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra> was born or lived Gyeongsan of North Gyeongsang. And adapter have a profound knowledge of Pansori and Novels. So adapter of Park, Sun-Ho s possession 43 Jang <Suk-Hyang-Jeon-I-Ra> was adapted constructively.

        한남서림의 경판본 소설 대중화 방안과 그 소설사적 의미

        This thesis looks into the method to popularise the Seoul block-printed novels published in Han-Nam bookstore and its implications in the history of novel. 52 types of Seoul block-printed novels were published in the late period of Jo-Seon Dynasty. From 1920 to 1921, particularly, 22 types of Seoul block-printed novels were published in Han-Nam bookstore. Han-Nam bookstore was a famous old bookstore during the Japanese colonial period. Since classical novels began to be type-printed in the 1910s, Seoul block-printed novels were quite rare in the 1920s. It is notable, therefore, that Du-young Baek of Han-Nam bookstore published 22 types of Seoul block-printed novels between 1920 and 1921. Considering the background, Du-yong Baek"s to method popularize Seoul block-printed novels needs to be paid attention. Du-yong Baek"s to method popularize Seoul block-printed novels were as follows. First the Seoul block-printed novels published in Han-Nam bookstore were mainly made use of love narrative led by women. These novels were 〈Suk-Young-Nang-Ja-Jeon〉, 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉, 〈Baek-Hak-Seon-Jeon〉, 〈Ok-Ju-Ho-Yeon〉, 〈Yang-San-Baek-Jeon〉, 〈Chun-Hyang - Jeon〉. Second the Seoul block-printed novels published in Han-Nam bookstore were mainly made use of historical hero narrative. These novels were 〈Im-Gyoung-Up-Jeon〉, 〈Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon〉, 〈Dang-Tae- Jong-Jeon〉, 〈Goak-Bun-Yang-Jeon〉, 〈Sam-Guk-Ji〉. Third romantic love narrative of the common women were in 〈Suk-Young-Nang-Ja- Jeon〉, 〈Chun-Hyang-Jeon〉. Forth ideal heroic action states were decreased and family conflicts were magnified in 〈So-Da-Seong-Jeon〉, 〈Yang- Pung-Jeon〉, 〈Jeg-Seong-Eui-Jeon〉 and 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉. Fifth critical mind of feudal system and confucianism still remained from the original texts of Seoul block-printed 〈Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon〉, 〈Sim- Cheong-Jeon〉, and 〈Gu-Un-Mong〉. The method used to popularise Seoul block-printed novels published in Han-Nam bookstore in 1920 and 1921 was revealed modernity. And the Seoul block-printed novels in particular prove that classical novels were still popular up to the 1920s. But 1920’s is provided for history of Korean modern literary. Thus Seoul block-printed novels printed in Han-Nam bookstore provides evidence that the history of Korean classical novel or literary should be extended up to the 1920s.

        〈전우치전〉의 대중화 양상과 그 소설사적 의미

        This paper is a study on popularize aspects and its meanings in the novel-history in 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. The different Editions of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉 are very diverse. The different Editions of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉 are included Chinese writing version, Korean transcription version, Seoul block printed version, printed version. So the different editions of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉 are classified four parts. 1 part is composed Korean transcription versions, 2 part is composed Chinese writing versions, 4 part is only composed printed version. But 3 part is composed Korean transcription version, Seoul block printed versions, printed version. Among different editions of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉, Chinese writing version are appeared most early. And Seoul block printed version are appeared. Next Korean transcription version of 1 part are appeared. Finally printed version of 4 part are appeared. Chinese writing versions, Korean transcription versions are appeared and distributed individually. But Seoul block printed versions, printed versions are producted commodities for sale. So 3 part and 4 part are popular different editions of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. Seoul block printed 37 sheets version was based on Chinese writing version of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. Structure of Chinese writing version is very simple. But Seoul block printed 37 sheets version is composed various episode. Therefore Seoul block printed 37 sheets version was added episode from Chinese writing version. This is the first popularize step of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. And Seoul block printed 37 sheets version was reduced to 22 sheets and 17 sheets. Seoul block printed 22 sheets version 17 sheets version was based on Seoul block printed 37 sheets version. Episode of Seoul block printed 22 sheets version 17 sheets version was reduced than 37 sheets version. This is the second popularize step of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. And printed version of 4 part was based on Seoul block printed 37 sheets version and Korean transcription version of 1 part. Jeon Woo Chi give shape to hero of people in printed version of 4 part. This is the third popularize step of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. Seoul Block Printed 37 sheets version is very important in popularize step of 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉. 〈Jeon-Woo-Chi-Jeon〉 is established popularity Seoul Block Printed novels with 〈Jeong-Su-Jeong-Jeon〉〈Jang-Hwa-Hong-Yeon-Jeon〉 〈Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon〉〈Sim-Cheong-Jeon〉〈Suk-Young-Nang-Ja-Jeon〉〈Suk-Hyang-Jeon〉〈Im-Gyoung-Up-Jeon〉〈Chun-Hyang-Jeon〉. And Jeon Woo Chi was criticized to Noron but he give shape to hero of people in printed version of 4 part. This phenomenon present novel readers’ potential energy and social function of novel.

        <박씨전>의 통속화 양상과 그 사회적 의미

        본 논문은 <박씨전>의 통속화 양상과 사회적 의미를 고찰하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. <박씨전>은 필사본과 활자본 이본이 현전하는데, 판매를 목적으로 간행된 활자본은 표제에 따라 각각 <박씨부인전>과 <박씨전>계열로 분류할 수 있다. 활자본 <박씨부인전>계열의 결말에는 <임경업전>에서 확인할 수 있는 임경업과 관련된 서사가, 활자본 <박씨전>계열의 서두에는 이시백의 출생담과 결말에는 <임경업전>의 내용이 추가되어 원본의 형태와 멀어지면서 통속화되었다. 활자본 <박씨부인전>계열의 결말에 추가된 부분은 원본의 형태를 취하는 고대본 계열을 제외하고는 <박씨전>의 모든 이본에서 확인할 수 있는 장면이지만, <박씨전> 전체 이본에서 활자본 <박씨전>계열이 차지하는 비중은 미미하다. 따라서 활자본 <박씨부인전>계열과 <박씨전>계열 모두 통속화되었지만 활자본 <박씨부인전>계열은 대중성을 확보했고, 활자본 <박씨전>계열은 통속화된 정도가 지나쳐서 대중성을 확보하지 못했다. 이러한 활자본 <박씨부인전>계열과 <박씨전>계열의 통속화된 양상을 1910년대의 시대적 상황과 연관 지었을 때, <박씨부인전>계열은 박씨의 우월성을 국가를 위한 충(忠)과 절(節)을 위한 행위로 귀결시켰으며 <박씨전>계열은 당대 정치 체제에 순응하고 지배 질서를 정립하고자 하는 보수적 시각이 표출된 것으로 생각된다. This paper is a study on the aspects and social meanings of the popularity in <Bak-Ssi-Jeon>. There are manuscripts and printed books of a different version in <Bak-Ssi-Jeon>. Printed books of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> are classed as two affiliation. One is of affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> and the other is affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon>. In end of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> was added narration about Im Gyung-Up. And in beginning of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> was added narration about Yi Si-Baek`s birth story. In end of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> was added narration about Im Gyung-Up. Narration about Im Gyung-Up in end of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> and <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> were assured in <Im-Gyung-Up-Jeon>. In affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> is included manuscripts of 16 different versions. But in affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> is assured manuscripts of 2 different versions. And narration about Im Gyung-Up in end of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> is assured all different of version <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> exclude affiliation of original version. But affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> is different in kind comparing with the whole of different versions. So I guess affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> and <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> were popularity(通俗化) but very affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon> was very popular(大衆的) version but affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon> was not. Bak-Ssi`s remarkable activities concluded in ethics of Confucianism in affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Bu-In-Jeon>. And conservative point of view are revealed itself a political structure in affiliation of <Bak-Ssi-Jeon>.

        〈금방울전〉의 여성 주도적 애정 서사의 전개 양상과 의미

        This paper is a study on unfolding aspects and its meanings of female-led affection narrative in 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉. Geum Bang Ul and Jang, Hae-ryong are husband and wife as the prince and princess of the Sea God in previous life. But the princess of the Sea God died and prince of the Sea God got away as specter. And the princess of the Sea God to demanded Wrongful death. So Heaven promised the prince and princess of the Sea God’s fate in the human world. And the prince and princess of the Sea God revived as Jang, Hae-ryong and Geum Bang Ul. Therefore fate as the princess of the Sea God’s demand to Heaven is justification that 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉 is unfolded affection narrative of female-led. And Geum Bang Ul can display supernatural powers. But prince of the Sea God’s could not display supernatural powers and Jang, Hae-ryong is a extremely ordinary person. Therefore sacredness of Geum Bang Ul is also justification that 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉 is unfolded affection narrative of female-led. Geum Bang Ul lead in affection narrative to fulfill love with Jang, Hae-ryong in 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉. First Geum Bang Ul lead cordial relations Jang, Hae-ryong’s parents and Geum mother of Geum Bang Ul. So Geum Bang Ul form foundation accomplishment of affection with Jang, Hae-ryong. Second Geum Bang Ul lead that Jang, Hae-ryong overcome a hardship. So Geum Bang Ul express affection about Jang, Hae-ryong and maintain relations with Jang, Hae-ryong. Third Geum Bang Ul lead that Jang, Hae-ryong meet again his parents. So Geum Bang Ul marry Jang, Hae-ryong and their affection is finally accomplished. There meanings of female-led affection narrative in 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉 is as follows. Female-led affection narrative in 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉 is signifed female’s desire toward affection and symbolized limit that female express desire. And female-led affection narrative in 〈Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon〉 is exposed that female’s ability is concealed in androcentric society. Besides it is presented contradiction of androcentric society which is maintained by female’s hidden ability.

        고전소설 속 여․당 참전 중국인의 형상화 방식과 시대적 의미

        <설인귀전>․<당태종전>․<울지경덕전>은 중국 장편소설 <설인귀정동>․<서유기>․<당진연의>의 일부 서사를 개작한 작품이다. 조선 후기 강성했던 고구려 국력에 대한 갈망과 설인귀 서사가 유입되어 대중성을 확보하고 당태종․설인귀․울지경덕이 신격화된 고사가 전승되면서 <설인귀전>․<당태종전>․<울지경덕전>이 간행된다. <설인귀전>․<당태종전>․<울지경덕전>에서 설인귀는 귀족적 영웅에서 민족적 영웅으로 역행하는 모습으로, 당태종은 정복욕에 충실한 군주의 표상으로, 울지경덕은 충절의 화신으로 형상화된 것으로 보인다. 하지만 당태종과 울지경덕의 형상은 <설인귀전>과 <울지경덕전>의 이본에 따른 차이가 있다. <설인귀전>․<당태종전>․<울지경덕전>에 형상화된 당태종의 모습에는 비판적 시각이 부각되어 있지만 설인귀와 울지경덕의 경우에는 우호적인 시각이 형성되어 있다. 세 작품에 형상화된 설인귀․당태종․울지경덕의 모습에는 조선 시대 요동 회복에 대한 염원과 한민족의 역량에 대한 자긍심 그리고 용맹과 충절을 갖춘 이상적 통치자가 부재하는 조선의 현실과 이상적 통치자의 출현을 염원하는 대중의 요구가 반영되어 있다. This paper is a study on imagery method and meaning of that times about Chinese participated in war between the Goguryo and Dang in <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>, <Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon>, <Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg-Jeon>. These three novels are adaptation of <Seol-In-Gui-Jeog-Dong>․<Seo-Yu-Gi>․<Dang-Jin- Yeon-Ui>. These are Chinese long novel and flowed in Jo-Seon Dynasty. And Seol-In-Gui, Dang-Tae-Jong, Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg were participated in war between the Goguryo and Dang. A Manchu war repeatly broke out in Jo-Seon Dynasty. Therefore national power was weaken. So people of Jo-Seon Dynasty longed for national power of Goguryo. And narrative of Seol-In-Gui was flowed from China. Besides Seol-In-Gui, Dang-Tae-Jong, Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Dege were deified and the story was transmitted. Therefore <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>․<Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon>․<Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg-Jeon> were able to published. Seol-In-Gui only come on stage in <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>. Seol-In-Gui was embodied aristocratic hero in Seoul block novels and national hero in printed books. Seoul block novels earlier were published than printed books. And Seol-In-Gui was embodied national hero in Chinese Seol-In-Gui narrative. Accordingly Seol-In-Gui was changed from aristocratic hero to national hero in Jo-Seon Dynasty. Dang-Tae-Jong come on stage <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>․<Dang-Tae-Jong- Jeon>․<Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg-Jeon>. Dang-Tae-Jong was jointly embodied that he had thirst for conquest. His behavior was justified in <Ul-Ji- Gyeong-Deg-Jeon>. But his war of conquest was criticized in <Seol- In-Gui-Jeon>․<Dang-Tae-Jong-Jeon>. Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg also come on stage <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>․<Dang- Tae-Jong-Jeon>․<Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg-Jeon>. His loyalty about Dang-Tae- Jong jointly was stood out in three novels. Besides loyalty about Yu-Mu-Ju was stood out in <Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg-Jeon>. But Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg was lacked of problem solving and judgement in <Seol-In-Gui-Jeon>. And he is effeminate and narrow-minded. Seol- In-Gui, Dang-Tae-Jong, Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg s shape is revealed desire getting back of Yodong and the Han race s capability. Seol-In-Gui and Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg are generals of the enemy. But their dauntlessness and loyalty was exemplified public of Jo-Seon Dynasty. Therefore amicable perspective about Seol-In-Gui and Ul-Ji-Gyeong-Deg is revealed that ideal rulers are not in Jo-Seon Dynasty and public want ideal rulers.
