서민오 ( Seo Min-oh ) 한국군사학회 2018 군사논단 Vol.94 No.-
If a war occurred in Korean peninsula between Republic of Korea(ROK) and Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) within the next ten to twenty years, it would be a hybrid war where battlefield is expanded and various weapons systems (conventional-as}Tnme任ic/kinetic-non- kinetic) are integrated. With rapid economic development, the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) integrated diverse cutting-edge weapons system into forces. On the other hand, DPRK has focus on its air Force to support ground force. DPRK continues its efforts to force ROK military to face combats in various areas, thereby denying choice and concentration of friendly force. In addition, DPRK will attempt to weaken our Command and Control(C2) and weapon employment capabilities through cyber warfare. The Korean theater in the future will require to have defense capabilities of extended area. In order to protect ROK from vulnerabilities,ROK military needs to secure strategic and operational advantages in the shortest amount of time. Moreover, the importance of efficient use of air power will be emphasi2ed than ever before. Especially, Cyber area will be upcoming difficult challenges for employing 5th generation warfare because the effect area is not only the space but also the logical space, so the range of air superiority should be effective over time, space, and cyber space. To swiftly and accurately neutralize DPRK's asymmetric forces including nuclear capability, ROK military should capable to promptly and accurately identify and targeting the threat, employ the most effective weapons to totally destruct and/or destroy it. However, even with this technological development, operational dependency on the Air Power is expected to be continued in the Korean theater of operation because of inherent difficulty of guided asset to transcend its real-time decision making, expedient, re-attack options, more massive and continuous attack capabilities, etc. Especially, the importance of air superiority should be underlined even more in order to utilize joint assets such as JSTARS,ground and sea based Missile forces, and Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Information(C4I) system. In the future war, realtime acquisition of intelligence through various manned/unmanned Information, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance
