In auto visual surveillance systems, object detection and tracking are most fundamental and important elements for high level video processing. Many recent methods combine object detection and tracking simultaneously, however they suffers from the background clutters. In this paper, we propose a novel tracker-updating method by clustering detected motion blobs. With this method, we can achieve robust tracking performance when background clutters happen. Our system operates with static camera and consists of Mean-shift tracker using color histogram and motion detector using Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). In the experiment, we test the proposed approach on our video data and demonstrate that its performance is better than the previous algorithms.

In this paper we propose a system for multiple object detection and tracking with multiple cameras. The system follows the tracking-by-detection framework and is designed to meet the performance required in actual environment such as smart class. Detection results are obtained by ACF(Aggregated Channel Features) detector and tracklets are generated based on these detection proposals. Tracklets are associated by the proposed online algorithm based on Multiple Hypothesis Tracking (MHT). Experiments show a comparable performance with the state-of-the-art batch algorithms on PETS2009 dataset and validate the applicability to real environment using the Smart-class dataset

In this paper we propose a multiple object tracking system with multiple cameras. We use head detector based on ACF(Aggregated Channel Features) detector. The tracking algorithm follows the tracking-by-detection framework using the obtained head detection results. We combined detections for same person in different views as clique (spatial association) using 3D distance. Then generated cliques are connected (temporal association) by proposed probabilistic model to make trajectories. At each frame, trajectories are updated by bipartite matching with the probability so that the algorithm operates in online manner. Experimental results in PETS2009 and Smart-class datasets show competitive performance to the state-of-the-art batch algorithms with much lower computational load.

In this paper, we propose a selective pyramid searching algorithm for pedestrian detection in real environments. We generate a pedestrian height map using static camera constraints. Given a pixel location with the pedestrian height map, we can select the pyramid used for searching. With the selective pyramid searching method, the sliding window searching can be done efficiently with a proper scale. In our experiments, It is shown that the proposed algorithm reduces computational time greatly without loss of precision.

It is important to design photobioreactor by cheap material for economical microalgal biomass production. In this study, two types of marine photobioreactors (MPBR), made by either polyvinyl chloride (MPBR-PVC) or high density poly ethylene (MPBR-HDPE), are used and performance of these were compared. Tetraselmis sp. KCTC 12236BP is a green marine alga that isolated from Ganghwa Island, Korea, and the strain was used for marine cultivations using MPBR-PVC and MPBR-HDPE. The cultivations were performed three times in the spring season of 2012 using MPBR-PVC and of 2013 using MPBR-HDPE in the coastal area of Young Heung Island. As the results, MPBR-PVC shows higher biomass productivities than MPBR-HDPE, due to its high light transmittance. In the cultivations using MPBR-PVC, the average sea water temperature was 11.5°C during the first experiment and 16.5°C during the second and third experiments. Average light intensities during three times for experiments were 407.5, 268.1 and 273.0 μ·E·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively. The maximum fresh cell weight and average biomass productivity were 1.2 g·L<SUP>-1</SUP> and 0.12 g·L<SUP>-1</SUP>·day<SUP>-1</SUP>. These results showed that Tetraselmis sp. KCTC12236BP were adapted well with the environmental conditions from ocean, and grow in the MPBR-PVC and MPBR-HDPE.
