멜랑콜리의 야누스적 두 얼굴 : 벤야민의 멜랑콜리 이론을 중심으로

멜랑콜리란 무엇인가? 오늘날 이 단어는 프로이트와 정신분석학의 영향 아래서 종종 우울증이라는 심인성 질환으로 이해되곤 하지만, 본래 병리학적 의미에 그치지 않고 우울, 슬픔, 질병, 광기부터 천재성, 창조력, 관조, 사색에 이르는 다양한 함의를 내포해 왔다. 이러한 의미들은 서로를 보완하기도 하고 충돌하기도 하며, 사람들에게 흥미와 혼란을 동시에 불러 일으켰는데, 이 글은 멜랑콜리의 다양한 함의들을 효과적으로 설명할 수 있는 중핵이 있다고 상정하고 이를 벤야민의 멜랑콜리 담론을 통해 밝혀본다. 벤야민에게서 멜랑콜리는 일견 서로 모순되어 보이지만 실제로는 상대항을 전제하고 그를 통해 존재하는 양가적 속성을 갖는데, 그 속성이란 ‘피조물에 고유한 슬픔’과 ‘열정적 관조의 능력’이다. 이 글은 이 두 속성이 구체적으로 어떤 관계를 맺는지를 분석하여 멜랑콜리에 대한 이해를 확장하고자 한다. 이를 통해 우리는 오직 슬픔을 중심으로만 멜랑콜리를 바라보는 단편적 이해를 넘어설 뿐만 아니라, 슬픔을 견지하는 중에서도 긍정적 전환점을 발견해내는, 동시에 그러한 전환을 통해 슬픔을 계속할 수 있는 삶의 이정표를 얻게 될 것이다. The purpose of this article is to offer a convincing and clearly argued response to the question of what ‘melancholy’ is. The notion of ‘melancholy’ is often understood as a psychogenic disorder called depression from a Freudian and psychoanalytic perspective. In fact, however, it has not only a pathological meaning, but also a range of other associated conditions from depression, sadness, disease, and madness to genius, creativity, through to contemplation. The fact that these meanings complement each other whilst, at the same time, colliding with one other, has caused interest and confusion to scholars over the years. In an effort to reduce such confusion, I posit ‘ambivalence’ as an intrinsic attribute of melancholy to effectively explain the coexistence of the various associated conditions, drawing on Walter Benjamin’s Melancholy Theory. In his theory, the concept of melancholy has two properties that, at first glance, seem to be diametrically opposed, but in reality, have their counterpart as a shared precondition, which is the ‘inherent mourning in the creature’ and the ‘ability of passionate contemplation.’ This article is intended to broaden our horizons of understanding of concept of ‘melancholy’ by analyzing the relationship between these two attributes in detail. In this context, I also aim to go beyond the facile understanding of melancholy as depression and to suggest a way to be melancholic in which we can find a positive state in the midst of mourning and, simultaneously, we can continue our mourning with the help of this positive state.

일반부인과학 : GG-28 ; IVF-ET 후 동시에 발생한 양측성 나팔관 임신 1예

양측성 난관 임신은 전체 임신에서는 10,000 임신 당 1례로 확인되며, 자궁외 임신에서는 0.06~0.14%로 발생한다고 알려져 있는 비교적드문 현상이다. 현재 한국의 불임여성이 증가하면서 이에 따른 보조생식기술(ART)이 발전하고 있으나 보조생식기술과 관련된 자궁외 임신 발생률은 2.4%~12.4%로 까지 확인되며 양측성 난관 임신과 같이 희귀한 자궁외 임신의 발생도 증가하고 있 다. 증례는 5개의 인공 수정된 배아를 이식하였으며 20일 후 양측 난관의 자궁외 임신으로 진단되 어 보존적 치료를 시도하였으나 실패하였고, 결국 복강경 수술을 통하여 양측 난관 절제술을 시행 하였다. 이에 저자들은 이식할 배아의 수 조절이 필요하며 보조 생식술 후 발생 가능한 이상임신과 합병증 발생에 대한 진단 및 치료, 추적 관찰이 중요하다는 것을 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
