This study was conducted to evaluate the potential of a microbial fermentation procedure to improve the functional qualities of seaweeds. Aspergillus oryzae, which has been used in traditional Korean fermented foods, was inoculated and cultivated in an aqueous extract of sea tangle (Laminaria japonica). Fermentation of the sea tangle extract by A. oryzae for 4 days resulted in a 3-fold increase in γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) content. GABA is known to be a bioactive compound. Fungal fermentation of the extract also enhanced its antioxidant activity and increased its total content of phenolic compounds. It was assumed that these changes stemmed from the biodegradation of active compounds of the sea tangle packaged within its rigid structural matrix or occurred as result of fungal fermentation. These results suggested that the application of microbial fermentation to the processing of seaweeds will help in the development of processed foods to meet consumer demands.
Cloning and Characterization of the Tetracycline Resistant Gene, tetB, from Vibrio parahaemolyticus

A tetracycline resistant Vibrio parahaemolyticus, capable of growing on TCBS medium containing tetracycline, was isolated from cultivated fishes. A gene responsible for the tetracycline resistance was cloned from chromosomal DNA of the V. parahaemolyticus strain using Escherichia coli KAM3, which lacks major multi-drug efflux pumps (△acrB) as host cells. The nucleotide sequence and homology analysis revealed an open reading frame (ORF) for tetracycline resistance protein (TetB). In order to characterize the antibiotic resistance of TetB originated from the V. parahaemolyticus strain, the gene was subcloned into plasmid pSTV28. The resulting plasmid was designated as pSTVTetB and transformated into E. coli KAM3. E. coli KAM3 cells harboring the recombinant plasmid pSTVTetB are able to grow on plates containing tetracycline and oxytetracycline but not doxycycline, indicating that the tetB gene confers the tetracycline- and oxytetracycline-resistance to the host cell.
구민체육센터의 서비스 품질과 소비자 만족도의 관계에 관한 연구

In much of the research papers have been found that there are relationships between service quality and renewal intentions. The primary purpose of this study were measure customers` service quality, customer satisfaction, and renewal intentions in ward inhabitants` sport centers. Using the convenience sampling procesure two hundreds thirty eight customers were surveyed. The One-way ANOVA and regression were used in this study, using the SPSS WIN 10.0. This study showed that there is strong relationships between service quality and renewal intentions, and customer satisfaction and renewal intentions.
