        Comparison of two adsorbents for simulated-moving-bed separation of galactose and levulinic acid in terms of throughput and desorbent usage

        One of the key issues in the production of biofuels from agarose is to establish a highly-efficient processfor separation of a target product (galactose) and a side-product (levulinic acid) that come from agarosehydrolysis. Regarding this issue, there has been a previous attempt at the separation of galactose (GA) andlevulinic acid (LA) using a simulated-moving-bed (SMB) process based on a size-exclusion adsorbent,which, however, had limitations in increasing solute retention capacities and thus hindered a meaningfulimprovement in the SMB performances. To resolve such problem, we explored an alternative adsorbentthat could compensate for the shortcoming of the previously adopted size-exclusion adsorbent. It wasfoundfirst that an Amberchrom-CG300C resin could adsorb LA strongly while placing GA migrationunder the control of a size-exclusion mechanism. The resin was thus proposed as the adsorbent for theconsidered separation. To compare the proposed and the previous adsorbents in terms of the SMBperformances for GA–LA separation, the SMB processes based on the two adsorbents were optimizedeach to maximize throughput and minimize desorbent usage while keeping the product purities above99%. The resulting Pareto solutions demonstrated that the SMB based on the proposed adsorbentsurpassed the SMB based on the previous adsorbent in throughput and desorbent usage by a widemargin. In addition, the replacement of adsorbent from the previous to the proposed one could lead to asignificant reduction in the SMB pressure drop. Finally, it was confirmed that the relative superiority ofthe proposed adsorbent over the previous one in terms of the SMB performances became greater, as therequired level of purity or throughput was elevated.

      • 시나리오플래닝을 활용한 우주R&D 전략 대안 간 우선순위 분석에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 시나리오기법을 활용하여 우주개발 전략대안 간 우선순위 분석에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 다양한 분야의 전문가 인터뷰를 통해 추출된 미래 불확실성을 바탕으로 서로 대비되는 시나리오를 도출하였으며, 도출된 시나리오를 고려한 전략대안 간 우선순위 평가를 통해 기술·정책적 측면의 핵심전략대안 및 시사점을 도출하였다. 본 연구결과는 향후 우주개발사업의 투자방향 설정, 사업별 예산 배분 조정 및 사업 효율화 방안의 참고자료로 활용될 수 있을것으로 기대된다. In this study, the scenario method was employed to draw the images of the future of Space R&D environments in South Korea. There are many uncertainties about the R&D of space technology in south korea like the threat of nuclear weapon by North Korea, the militarization of space technology among countries in and around northeast Asia and so on. This is the time to visualize realizable futures and make well-timed policies. Scenario can help us to identify the risks and opportunities when we develop the space technology and to prepare for them. The results of this research based on scenario method are expected to be more utilized in the national technology foresight and R&D budget distribution.

        Corporate Role in Developing Positive Network Marketing Discourse: A Case Study of Atomy

        Purpose: Network marketing generally has a negative social image; however, in Korea, specific companies have made efforts to change their image, and this has played an important role in formulating their positive social discourse. Discourse analysis surrounding network marketing is important, as it identifies the cooperative role of companies and constantly communicates with the public for continuous development of network marketing. Additionally, revealing the role of the entity in the discourse will help establish a pro-consumer, prosocial management strategy for the enterprise. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, we explore network marketing image conversion keywords and the role of Atomy on the basis of the network marketing discourse analysis. We conducted text mining (TF-IDF/Centrality) by collecting textual data about network marketing found in the Internet news and blogs during 2009–2018. Through text mining, we identify important words in network marketing discourse and identify keywords in the center of the connection. In addition, we construct a correlation matrix of co-occurrence frequency of words and use it as a data set for network analysis. Further, through network analysis method we analyzed and classified discourses. Results: As a result of data mining, the discourse surrounding network marketing is gradually altering negative keywords, such as early pyramid distribution and illegality, into positive words, such as success, opportunity, and familiarity. As a result of the network analysis, the role of Atomy in the discourse is clustered with keywords such as success, recognition, and business. Thus, Atomy has played a positive and cooperative role in the social awareness change of network marketing. In particular, Atomy's CSR activities and social proliferation of management values played a major role in converting negative awareness of network marketing into positive awareness. Conclusions: As an innovative distributor, Atomy is considered to have contributed positively to the network marketing image transition in the process of enhancing its image. In particular, the image and role of Atomy in the network marketing discourse suggests that future network marketing firms need strategic promotion to combine various social activities/donation cultures/service activities, beginning with a friendly image formation that allows them to communicate with consumers.

      • 국내 우주산업 생태계 활성화 전략 연구

        본 연구에서는 우리나라 우주산업생태계를 개괄적으로 분석한 뒤 전문가 설문을 통해 우주산업생태계 활성화의 핵심 영향요인을 도출하였다. 그리고 도출된 핵심 영향요인 별 현황 및 이슈 분석을 통해 우리나라 우주산업생태계 활성화 전략을 제안하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 우리나라 우주산업생태계 활성화를 위한 정부의 우주분야 법·제도 정비 및 효율적인 정부 R&D 투자 방향 설정 및 배분·조정에 활용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. In this study, a business ecosystem of a domestic space industry is comprehensively analyzed to derive the influence factors. The priority level of each element as well as the disparity between the ideal and reality are investigated through a literature review and an expert survey. The three major influence factors determined are: (a) investment scale and approach, (b) propulsion system, and (c) industrialization with overseas expansion. Related issues based on the current status are evaluated, followed by a proposed activation strategy. This research finding offers a direction for R&D budget allocation and law system maintenance for the activation of the domestic space industry.

      • 8-bit Neuron MOS A/D 변환기 설계

        본 논문은 Neuron MOSFET를 이용한 8-bit subranging A/D 변환기 회로의 설계에 관하여 기술한다. 이 A/D 변환기 회로의 장점은 기존의 MOS회로를 이용한 설계에 비해 융통성 있는 회로 동작이 가능하며, 기존의 A/D 변환기 설계방법에 비해 회로 구조가 간단하다. subranging구조를 사용한 8-bit A/D 변환기는 두 개의 4-bit A/DC, 한 개의 4-bit D/AC, 감산기와 8-bit 출력 latch로 구현된다. 이들 각 회로들을 부분적으로 시뮬레이션하여 동작확인하였다. 이 회로는 0.8㎛이중 폴리 이중 금속공정에 의한 설계규칙으로 설계하였고, 현재 제작공정 중이다. An 8-bit subranging A/D converter circuit using neuron MOSFET was designed and implemented. This neuron MOS A/D converter shows flexible operations and simple structure comparing with common CMOS A/DC circuit. It is composed of two 4-bit A/D subconverters, 4-bit D/A subconverter, subtracter and 8-bit output latch, each subcircuit was simulated separately. This circuit is designed using a 0.8㎛ double-poly, double-metal transistor structure and processing for fabrication and test.

        주변 온도 영향에 따른 비분산 적외선 가스센서의 출력 특성 해석

        This article describes the output properties of non-dispersive infrared carbon dioxide(CO<sub>2</sub>) sensors resulting from the changes in ambient temperatures. After the developed sensor module was installed inside the gas chamber, the temperature was set to 267 K, 277 K, 300 K, and 314 K, and the concentrations of CO<sub>2</sub> gas were increased from 0 to 5,000 ppm. Then, the output voltage at each concentration was obtained. Through these experimental results, two observations were made. First, both the CO<sub>2</sub> sensor and the reference sensor showed an increase in the output voltages as the temperature rose from 0 ppm, Second, the full scale outputs of the CO<sub>2</sub> sensor grew as the temperature increased. The output characteristics were analyzed based on two factors: change in the radiant energy of the infrared light source and change in the absorptivity of CO<sub>2</sub> gas according to the ambient temperature. Additionally, temperature compensation methods were discussed.
