Effect of metal salt catalysts on the whiteness reduction of durable press (DP) finished white cotton fabric was investigated. The catalysts used were $Al_2(SO_4)_3\; (AS),\;MgCl_2\;(MC)\;and\;Zn(NO_3)_2\;(ZN)$. Crosslinking agent was dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea. Relationship between the reaction rate constant (k) of each catalyst and respective whiteness were discussed. In order to measure the k, nitrogen content of DP finished fabric was analyzed quantitatively. The order of k was AS>ZN>MC. The reduction of whiteness was affected by the order of k.

Objective Cell therapy has been extensively studied as a gene complementation approach in muscular dystrophy including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and adipose tissue has recently been identified as a uniquely abundant and adequately accessible source of pluripotent cells. In the present work, we investigated myogenic potentials of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) depending on culture media and isolation with using surface markers. Method Human ADSCs were obtained by liposuction and cultured in two different media; control and myogenic media. In addition we attempted to isolate ADSCs by utilizing surface markers: CD45 and CD133. The following observations were made to evaluate myogenic differentiation as the expression of myogenic regulatory factors (MyoD, Myf-5 and Myf-6) and desmin by RT-PCR and immunoflurescence study. Results Conversion of ADSCs to myogenic phenotype was observed by indirect immunoflurescence study of MyoD and Myf-5 in regardless of media type and isolation method. In addition mRNA of MyoD and Myf-5 were positive in both culture media, and there were no differences of MyoD and Myf-5 responses between CD45− and CD45−CD133− ADSCs. However, secondary myogenic regulatory factor (Myf-6) was not expressed constantly, and desmin were negative in all cultural condition. Conclusion Our findings suggest that human ADSCs might have myogenic potentials. However, further studies are needed to express the secondary myogenic regulatory factors and proteins in myoblasts.

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is a valuable tool to prevent damage by detecting dysfunction before reaching an irreversible stage in brain, spine and other surgical procedures. This article focuses on the intraoperative application and clinical utility of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP), motor evoked potentials (tcMEP) and triggered and spontaneous EMG. Somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) monitoring used in several decades helped to prevent neurologic deficits. However, motor compromise can occur without SEP warning and SEP deterioration can occur without motor deficit. Intraoperative MEP monitoring in patients with spinal and cranial lesions is thought to be a valuable tool for prevention of postoperative motor deficits. In recent years, motor evoked potential recording following transcranial electrical stimulation has emerged as a reliable technique to intraoperatively assess the functional integrity of the motor pathways.Spontaneous and triggered EMG is getting widely used as a means of monitoring nerve root function during spine surgery. Although IONM is a valuable technique that provides sensitive and specific indications of neurologic injury, it does have limitations that must be understood. The monitoring team must be well trained, be able to provide the surgeon feedback in real time, and coordinate activities with those of the surgical and anesthesia teams.

Although cultured myoblast transplantation has been extensively studied as a gene complementation approach to muscular dystrophy treatment, clinical success has still been limited. The inability to adequately isolate and purify myoblasts presents a major limitation to the production of sufficient myoblasts for engrafting purposes. This study attempted to purify myoblasts from primary culture by magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS), complement-mediated cytotoxicity, and a preplating technique. As a result of positive myoblasts selection by MACS, the average percentage of myoblasts in mixed culture was increased from 30.0% to 41.7%. We observed both myoblast lysis and fibroblast lysis after complement-mediated cytotoxicity. Enrichment of myoblasts in mixed culture was found to increase to 83.1% by using the preplating technique. In addition, higher purification (92.8%) was achieved by following the preplating technique with MACS. Thus, preplating in combination with magnetic-activated cell sorting allows for a rapid and effective isolation of myoblasts from human muscle tissue.

Objective: Patients with brain disorder manifest hypermetabolism, increased energy expenditure, and increased protein loss. Nutritional support can prevent loss of immunocompetence, and can decrease morbidity and mortality associated with brain disorder. Thus, we aimed to determine the nutritional status by measuring body mass index (BMI) in patients with brain disorder during the first 6 months and identify factors related to malnutrition in this study. Method: We enrolled 244 patients from January 2008 to December 2009. The patients were classified into two groups: BMI under 18.5 were categorized as malnourished, while BMI over 18.5 as not malnourished. Extracted data includes demographic characteristics, type of brain disorder, functional independence measure (FIM) and Korea mini-mental status exam (K-MMSE) scores, history of diabetes mellitus (DM), and laboratory data. Feeding method was classified into oral and enteral tube feeding. Results: The prevalence of malnourished patients was 13.1% (32 out of 244 patients). There was significant difference of total lymphocyte count (TLC) between the two groups. And there was no significant difference of correlation in other parameters. Analysis of feeding method showed that 11.4% of oral feeding patients were malnourished, compared to 17.4% of tube feeding patients who were categorized as malnourished. The tube feeding group tends to be more malnourished. Conclusion: The results of this study can be a guide for active rehabilitation of patients with brain disorder, and further studies regarding functional outcome and complications related to early nutritional status is needed.

Introduction: Specialists in a variety of field should make dysphagia patients who are damaged by CNS(Central nerve system) impairment or various factors intake foods and water safely through the most appropriate dyshpagia rehabilitation approach and a multi-faced approach. Body: Swallow maneuver is a kind of dyshpagia rehabilitation approach for dysphagia patients which is via Thermal tactile oral stimulation (TTOS) stimulating anterior faucial arch, Electrical stimulation using a surface electrode on the neck and induces physiological change, the flow of the bolus through viscosity and the size of the bolus, the active movement through tongue & lip exercise, Head-lifting exercise, a Postural technique which includes head rotation, head tilt, lying down, chin tuck to compensate a structural and physiological defect and supraglottic swallow, supersupraglottic swallow, effortful swallow, Mendelson maneuver which induce patients to swallow safely and effectively when eating the foods directly. Conclusion: We should verify the existing treatment approach afresh for the dysphagia patients and the systemic study according to symptom and disease would be necessary by establishing evidence respectively.
