한국민담 <내 복에 산다>를 분석심리학적 관점에서 고찰하고 해석하였다. <내 복에 산다>는 한국에서 광범위하게 채집되는 민담으로서 삼공본풀이, 무왕설화 등 여러 이야기에서 공통된 주제들이 발견된다. 누구 복에 사는가 묻는 아버지의 질문에 내 복에 산다고 대답한 셋째 딸은 쫓겨나 숯구이 총각과 결혼하게 되고 산중에서 금을 발견하여 부자가 된 후 아버지를 다시 만나 잘 모시게 된다. 분석심리학에서는 민담을 무의식의 원형적 작용이 상징적으로 표현된 것으로서 이해한다. 따라서 일방적인 집단의식을 보상하여 전체성을 이루려는 목적을 향해 이야기가 진행된다. 본 민담은 부성의 지배에서 벗어나, 세속적인 기준으로 볼 때 열등한 것과 결합하는 고통의 체험과 무의식적 세계에 대한 헌신을 통해 전 인격적 실현을 이뤄가는 한 여성의 자기실현의 이야기인 동시에 경직된 집단의식이 무의식의 작용으로 변화되고 통합되는 과정을 보여주는 이야기로 해석될 수 있다. A Korean fairy tale, “I live on my fortune” is discussed and interpreted from the perspective of analytical psychology. Analytical psychology understands fairy tales are stories in which the workings of archetypes of unconsciousness are represented symbolically. Therefore they are intended to achieve psychic wholeness compensating collective consciousness. The fairy tale is found in almost every region of Korea. There are several parallel stories that share similar motifs, such as Samgongbonpoori, a mythological story and a tale on the king Mooh. The father in the story asked his three daughters whose fortune they lived on. The youngest was expelled by her father for she answered, “I live on my own fortune.” Then she came into a humble cottage in the mountain marrying a poor charcoal maker and she found gold there. She became rich, made the charcoal maker a decent learned man and seeked for and took care of her parents who had become beggars. This fairy tale is interpreted as a story about individuation process of a woman who integrated ‘inferior’ aspects and unconscious animus through actively accepting the suffering from being expelled and commitment to the unconscious world, and also about how rigid collective psyche, under patriarchal system, changes toward wholeness through the workings of the unconscious.

피부는 우리 몸의 맨 바깥을 둘러싸고 있어 신체를 보호하며 생리적으로 중요한 기능들을 수행하는 인체 기관의 하나이다. 그러나 생리적 기능을 넘어서 사회문화적 차원을 포함하는 인간 정신의 다채로운 내용들이 그 위에서 풍부하게 표현되는 공간이 되기도 한다. 본 논문은 분석심리학의 관점을 바탕으로 피부가 가지는 다양한 상징적 의미들을 탐구해보고자 한다. 피부는 표피, 진피, 피하지방층으로 구성되며 방어막으로서의 기능 뿐 아니라 체온 조절, 비타민 D합성, 감각 기능 등 생명 유지에 필요한 여러 역할들을 담당한다. 최근 의학계에서는 심리적 요인과 생리적 변화 사이의 상호 관련성을 과학적으로 규명하려 노력하고 있어 향후 피부에서 나타나는 현상들과 정서적 관련성에 관해 좀 더 체계적인 이해가 가능해 질 것으로 기대되고 있는데 일찍이 융은 정신양 기능에 대한 가설이나 동시성 이론을 통해 물질과 정신 사이의 연관성을 직관적으로 시사한 바 있다. 논문에서는 일상의 언어에 나타나는 피부 관련 표현들을 통해 피부의 사회심리학적 측면을 살펴본다. 언어는 한 집단의 정신세계를 담지하는 전달자일 수 있기 때문이다. 또한 피부는 겉으로 드러나기 때문에 증상이 있을 때 특별한 사회적, 심리적 반응을 유도하고 환자에게 큰 고통이 될 수 있다. 페르조나는 인격의 외피로서 사회와의 관계 속에서 성립되는 역할인데 이는 자주 신체의 외피인 피부를 통해 표현된다. 자아 이미지, 자아 정체성은 피부와 밀접한 관련이 있으며 다양한 모습으로 피부 위에 표출된다. 융은 에로스를 관계 원리로 규정한 바 있는데 피부야말로 에로스가 구체적으로 실현되는 공간이라 할 수 있다. 민담과 신화 속에 나오는 짐승 가죽을 뒤집어쓰거나 허물을 벗는 이야기들에서 개성화 과정에서 변환의 의미를 내포하는 피부의 상징성을 읽을 수 있다. 또한 피부질환이 전체정신의 중심으로부터 의식으로 전해지는 메시지일 수 있음을 이해할 때 자기실현에 중요한 시사점을 발견할 수 있을 것이다. This thesis is an psychological study investigating the meanings of skin from the perspective of analytical psychology. Skin, as the outermost layer of our body, protects the body and carries out essential physiologic functions. It is an organ of the body and also psychological contents can be expressed on it in various forms. We can find sociocultural connotations of skin, some of which are demonstrated in our language. Skin may become a carrier of persona which defines a person’s role in the society. And it can be a place where ego is expressed. Eros is the principle of relationship by Jung’s definition and skin is the space where eros is realized intensely. Skin may carry meanings as a symbol of transformation. Skin dis ease can be interpreted as a message from Self in certain cases. The theme of casting off skin in myths and dreams can be an analogy of an individual’s sac rifice for individuation, and putting on a skin may imply taking special proper ties in psychological level.
