Red Bean Extract Reduces Inflammation and Increases Survival in a Murine Sepsis Model

This study used in vitro and in vivo experimental models to investigate the anti-inflammatory potential of the butanol fraction of red bean ethanol extract (BF-RBEE),which contains the biologically active molecule catechin-7-β-D-glucopyranoside. Treatment with BF-RBEE inhibited nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages through suppression of extracellular signalregulated kinase and IκBα activation. In an in vivo murine sepsis model, oral administration of BF-RBEE improved mouse survival. Specifically, the survival rate of mice injected with LPS was 0 and 40% in ICR and BALB/c mice, respectively, whereas the survival of mice co-treated with BF-RBEE was 100% in both mouse types. This increase in survival with the BF-RBEE administration was correlated with decreased tumor-necrosis factor-α and interferon-γ and increased interleukin-10. Oral administration of BF-RBEE also inhibited total and ovalbumin-specific IgE production in experimental mice. These results suggest the possible usefulness of red beans in the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
국방 신속획득제도의 한계와 개선 방안: 신기술 활용의 통합적 관리 문제를 중심으로

Republic of Korea Armed Forces are operating various rapid acquisition systems to apply leading-edge technologies to the defense sector in a timely manner. However, The Force Support System, which occupies an important proportion of military supplies, is practically excluded from the operation of rapid acquisition systems. In addition, the legal basis of rapid acquisition systems is weak and scattered by law as well, which can cause many problems. Therefore, this study considered the problems and limitations of current rapid acquisition systems, focusing on the reason why the application and utilization of leading-edge technologies were implemented mainly in the weapon system, and suggested ways to improve the establishment of a future rapid acquisition system, focusing on the integrated management of leading-edge technologies. 우리 군은 첨단 신기술을 적시적으로 국방 분야에 적용하기 위해 각종 신속획득제도를 운영하고 있다. 하지만 군수품의 중요한 비중을 차지하고 있는 전력지원체계 분야는 신속획득제도 운영에서 실질적으로 배제되어 있으며, 신속획득제도의 법적 근거도 미약하거나 법제별로 산재되어 있어 많은 문제점을 노정하고 있다. 이에 본고는 신기술의 적용 및 활용이 무기체계를 중심으로 이루어지게 된 원인을 위주로 현행 신속획득제도의 문제점과 한계를 진단하고, 무기체계와 전력지원체계를 포괄할 수 있는 신기술 활용의 통합적 관리 문제를 중심으로 발전적인 미래 신속획득제도 구축을 위한 개선 방안을 제시하였다.
