This paper studies how to understand words ``the other`` included achievement standards about ``self-reflection`` in Korean Language Art``s curriculum. and Notes aspects of the other represented in pre-reading activities in self-reflection section in the literature textbook. In relation to achievement standards about ``self-reflection``, The concepts of ``the other`` showed up for the first time in 2011 Korean Language Art``s curriculum. It is the result of receiving a literary discourse about ‘the Otherness’ in the 2000s. The study of ‘the Otherness’ affects understand in terms of Subject, the Other. However, Unlike changes in the Korean Language Art``s curriculum content, the literature textbook are not considering theses changes. Analysis of the other represented in pre-reading activities about self-reflection section demonstrates this problem. These pre-reading activities does not consider the ontological relationship between the self-reflection and the other. therefore it requires fundamental consideration and reconstruction about the other represented in pre-reading activities in self-reflection section.

Recently, the term “internalization” is often used in literary education, which shows educational interest in the term. However, as the term is being overused, its meaning is becoming unclear. Thus, it is necessary to review the way the terms is described and used. The review was carried out in two ways. First, the study reviewed cases where the term is used according to the definition of “internalization” in the Korean language dictionary or in other academic terminology dictionaries. Next, the cases of using terms based on the discourse of literary education itself were reviewed. The Review revealed the meanings of “internalization” that are not irrelevant but different in the following aspects: general/operational, short/long, positive/negative, engineering/non-engineering. These various meanings are being used in a disorderly manner. As a result, while the importance of internalization is being increasingly emphasized, understanding it properly is getting rather difficult. To solve this problem, as a short-term solution, a method of admitting that “internalization” is not yet a terminology for literary education, and use it only for its general meaning in official documents can be considered. Afterwards, researchers engaged in literary education should discuss and make agreements, try to reduce confusion regarding the meaning of the term.

This paper interprets the novel Time for You and Me in detail, and devises an educational method to help students internalizes the work. There are three main themes in the work. First, the works looks at the question of whether one can save somebody else’s life while risking his or her own life. Second, it discusses the question regarding the fact that there is always something that you would not be able to understand unless you are directly related to it. The last is regarding the question of human beings often doing something that cannot be said to be right or wrong without even realizing it and having no choice but to bear the consequences. The work deals with such humanity, the nature of those directly involved, and unpredictability, and shows a deep understanding of humans and life. Current literature textbooks are one-sided and insufficient as it focuses only on humanity. Therefore, this paper proposes a new teaching-learning method that can help students understand and internalize the work in three stages: the empathy stage, the suspension stage and the appropriation stage.
