        베한 기계번역 오류 양상 및 포스트에디팅 – 베트남 외교부 입장문을 중심으로 –

        This study evaluates errors in Vietnamese-Korean machine translation by referencing post-edited texts, focusing on the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statements from 2018 to 2023. The research utilized Naver Papago and Google Translate to analyze a total of 51 sentences. By comparing the machine-translated texts with their post-edited versions, the study identified the predominant types of errors. The errors in the 102 sentences translated by the two engines were categorized into seven types: semantic, grammatical, word order, lexical, addition, omission, and numerical errors. The analysis revealed that errors occurred in approximately 77% of the texts (39 texts) translated by Google Translate and in about 75% of the texts (38 texts) translated by Papago. The most frequent errors in Google Translate were 'omission errors' and 'semantic errors', while Papago predominantly showed 'omission errors'. This pattern indicates that 'omission errors' were a common issue across both translation engines. The significance of this paper lies in its contribution to understanding the accuracy of Vietnamese-Korean machine translation in the context of Vietnamese diplomatic communications, a relatively under-researched area in Vietnam.

        애도경험과 외상 후 성장의 관계: 회복탄력성과 자아존중감의 매개효과

        In this research, the mediating effects of resilience and self-esteem in the influence of mourning due to a separation by death on the post-traumatic growth were verified. During one month of September 2017, data had been collected from 166 adult males and females who had a separation-by-death experience. Through SPSS 23.0 and a macro program, the relationships and influences between the factors were verified. The main results were the following: First, through a product-moment correlation analysis, statistically significant positive correlations appeared for between all, including mourning, post-traumatic growth, resilience, and self-esteem. Second, we verified the relationship between mourning and post-traumatic growth, and the partially mediating effect of resilience. Third, we verified the relationship between mourning and post-traumatic growth, and the partially mediating effect of self-esteem. Based on such results, we suggest the need of therapeutic intervention for the promotion of resilience and self-esteem when suggesting a counseling approach to those who are in the process of mourning after experiencing a separation by death.

        A Deep Learning-based Depression Trend Analysis of Korean on Social Media

        The number of depressed patients in Korea and around the world is rapidly increasing every year. However, most of the mentally ill patients are not aware that they are suffering from the disease, so adequate treatment is not being performed. If depressive symptoms are neglected, it can lead to suicide, anxiety, and other psychological problems. Therefore, early detection and treatment of depression are very important in improving mental health. To improve this problem, this study presented a deep learning-based depression tendency model using Korean social media text. After collecting data from Naver KonwledgeiN, Naver Blog, Hidoc, and Twitter, DSM-5 major depressive disorder diagnosis criteria were used to classify and annotate classes according to the number of depressive symptoms. Afterwards, TF-IDF analysis and simultaneous word analysis were performed to examine the characteristics of each class of the corpus constructed. In addition, word embedding, dictionary-based sentiment analysis, and LDA topic modeling were performed to generate a depression tendency classification model using various text features. Through this, the embedded text, sentiment score, and topic number for each document were calculated and used as text features. As a result, it was confirmed that the highest accuracy rate of 83.28% was achieved when the depression tendency was classified based on the KorBERT algorithm by combining both the emotional score and the topic of the document with the embedded text. This study establishes a classification model for Korean depression trends with improved performance using various text features, and detects potential depressive patients early among Korean online community users, enabling rapid treatment and prevention, thereby enabling the mental health of Korean society. It is significant in that it can help in promotion.

        한국판 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움 척도(K-FPES) 타당화

        Cognitive-behavioral models propose that fear of negative evaluation is the core feature of social anxiety disorder. However, it may be that fear of evaluation in general is important in social anxiety, including fears of positive as well as negative evaluation. The FPES (The Fear of Positive Evaluation Scale) was developed to test this hypothesis. The study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the FPES (K-FPES) and to demonstrate its clinical efficacy. In Study 1, the results of an exploratory factor analysis of a sample of controls (n=136) showed a single-factor structure. In Study 2, we evaluated the model using confirmatory factor analysis on a sample composed of the undergraduates (n=222). Finally, we examined the instrument's reliability and construct validity. In Study 3, the K-FPES showed good diagnostic accuracy, as assessed through ROC analyses (AUC= .80). We discuss the K-FPES's implications regarding the study and treatment of social anxiety disorder.

        Investigating How Content-based ESL Instruction Compares with Regular Content-area Literacy Instruction

        The purpose of this study is to explore how content-based ESL instruction compares with regular content-area literacy instruction. This qualitative study was conducted at two different elementary schools in the Midwest of the United States. Four teachers participated in this study: two ESL teachers and two regular classroom teachers. All four teachers were quite different from, and at the same time similar to, one another in terms of their perspectives in content-based instruction (CBI), teaching approaches and teaching materials. For the similarities between the two types of instruction, all teachers had done various kinds of groupwork and they tried to connect their lessons to the students’ daily lives. All four teachers also emphasized the importance and difficulties of teaching vocabulary in CBI. On the other hand, ESL teachers and regular classroom teachers had different perspectives on content-based instruction. ESL teachers thought CBI was one of ESL programs and effective, but regular classroom teachers thought it was normal to teach in their classes. Besides, there were differences in the degree of difficulty of the content areas. The ESL class dealt with easier content than the regular same-grade classes. The teaching materials were different according to the two classroom settings. I maintain that although there were similarities between teaching ESL students and English-speaking students through the content areas, there were specific aspects that could be more effective for ESL students, and these need to be studied further.

        Factors Influencing Korean Students’ Participation and Learning in the U.S. Elementary School

        The purpose of this research is to explore what factors influence Korean students’ participation and learning in the U.S. elementary school. The study uses qualitative research methodology to explore the nature of the students’ behavior and learning. The participants were six Korean students, the students’ ESL teachers, and the students’ regular classroom teachers in an elementary school. The data were collected by using observations, interviews, and written materials and analyzed through the constant comparative method. within the data, the researcher found a triangle of influential factors affecting the Korean students’ participation and learning in their classes. The students themselves were in the middle of the triangle in that they were the main avenue for their own learning. At the vertices were three other main elements: family backgrounds, school contexts, and additional factors. No single factor affected the students’ learning. All four elements influenced the students’ learning simultaneously, although there were differences in the extent of the impact, according to the students’characteristics. In addition, these factors were related to one another in shaping students’ participation and learning.
