        영어교육방송 EBSe 프로그램 활용 실태 분석

        Two contradictory opinions arose in the view of the English education as a serious political issue. This research has been made to offer a way to strengthen the English education through EBSe program as a public education, as well as a critical analysis on the usage of EBSe program by the students, parents, and teachers. Based on a collective research on students, parents and teachers, some way to improve the EBSe program are as follows: First, people recognized the EBSe program differently, based on the location of school and region. Elementary school students knew more of the EBSe program as opposed to the Middle or High School students. Many students, parents, and teachers in big cities also knew of this program whereas the people in rural areas didn't. More aggressive measures should be taken to advertise the EBSe program in the small towns as well as to offer ways they can actually view this program. Furthermore, students are influenced heavily by parents and teachers. Therefore, there needs to be an active advertisement to the parents and teachers. Second, the students' abilities on the English language differed based on their regional location. For example, students from major cities understood the program easily whereas students in rural areas said it was too difficult to understand. Thus, a wide range of programs based on the difficulty level are needed, especially programs that have considered the needs and level of the students in rural towns. Third, the actual usage of the EBSe program in local school are very low. This has to do with the inability to join the EBSe program to the school curriculum. Further analysis has to be made on the achievement level, curriculum, and the teacher's performance for elementary, middle, and high school English program. This is very important to further benefit and strengthen the EBSe program. Fourth, as opposed to the low recognition of the EBSe program in the rural areas, people in big cities have said they would continue using this program. High expectations arise by the students, parents, and teachers for the EBSe program. Therefore, if measures are taken to meet the needs and levels of the users correctly, the EBSe program will ameliorate the current public English education and furthermore reduce the private education fee.

        초등학생용 영어 코퍼스 분석을 통한 형용사 사용의 비교 연구

        This paper attempts to analyze uses of adjectives in English corpora for elementary school students. For the purpose, corpora were collected from Anthony Browne's picture books, graphic novels, fantasy movies, English children's literature, and English textbooks for Korean elementary school students. After analyzing thirty most frequent adjectives from each corpus in terms of the frequency, six most frequently used adjectives such as good, right, nice, big, little, and long were compared among corpora to find out the features of their use. The findings indicated that there were differences between the textbooks and the rest of corpora with references to the use of default terms of each adjective. This study suggests that adjectives need more attention in teaching English as a second or foreign language.

        초등영어 교사용 지도서와 교실영어자료의 코퍼스 분석을 통한 시공간 전치사 ‘at’, ‘on’, ‘in’의 의미 사용 특성 연구

        The present study is designed to explore the uses of three prepositions of time and place at , on , and in in the texts from the primary English teachers guides and classroom English materials by constructing and analyzing the corpus from the texts. For the purpose of the study, the framework for the analysis of prepositional meanings was developed, each preposition from the corpus data was analyzed according to the frame, and their frequencies were compared with the data from COCA. The findings of the analysis are as follows: three prepositions showed relatively higher frequencies in their two to three primary meanings than in their other categories of meanings; each preposition was used in temporal meaning less than in spatial meaning; three prepositions occurred in relatively simple structural forms. Based on the findings, it was argued that the systematic semantic approach to prepositional meanings is advisable in understanding the uses of spatiotemporal prepositions. Along with the argument, the collocational approach was suggested for teaching and learning prepositions in primary English classrooms in the conclusion.

        영어일기쓰기 학습을 위한 웹 기반 프로그램 개발 방안 연구

          Recently, there has been considerable improvements in computer assisted language learning based on corpora and natural language processing technology. In line with this, this paper provides an overview of relevant sites and projects believed to give us insightinto developing a web-based program for diary writing. This paper also describes Project CANDLE, including German Tutor and English Tutor, which use corpora and Natural Language Processing technologies to construct online diary contents for elementary school children in Korea. The focus of the paper is on how these technologies might be made more useful by conceptualizing an appropriate framework in order to develop contents for diary writing by children.

        Interactional Approach to English Language Learning

        Interaction can facilitate a variety of interactional aspects as a necessary condition to learn a second or foreign language. From this perspective, many studies were performed in order to examine the effect of interaction on English learning. This research analyzed interaction-based studies and uncovered essential interactional aspects for English learning. Some factors may have the effect of enhancing or deteriorating interaction, so they were also examined. In terms of interactional aspects for English learning, four constructs were identified: comprehensible input, comprehensible output, interactional feedback, and modified output. Comprehensible input facilitates learning to take place beyond the current level. Comprehensible output enhances automatization of structured knowledge and restructuring. Interactional feedback pushes comprehensible output and provides modified input. Modified output contributes to restructuring comprehensible output and toward automatization. In terms of interaction-related factors, four constructs are believed to influence interaction: language factors, activity factors, learner factors, and socio-cultural factors. Language factors include language knowledge and skills. With reference to activity factors, activity types and procedures affect the interactional aspects. A number of learner factors affect the interactional aspects: age, cognitive and affective characteristics, and English proficiency level. Aspects of interaction are affected by socio-cultural factors such as learning environment, culture, and the relationship between the interlocutors.

        사전의 유형 및 사용이 초등학생들의 독해력과 어휘력에 미치는 효과

        This study aims to suggest better teaching methods by examining the effect of different types of dictionaries(English-English ‘EE’, English- Korean ‘EK’, and English-English-Korean ‘EEK’) on comprehension, recognition and memorization of words of elementary students in connection with two different types of texts(informative and narrative). The results are as follows. First, in comprehending the text and two types of vocabulary tests, the group with EEK dictionaries in general showed better performance than other groups. It implies that EEK dictionaries can be the most suitable type of dictionary for the EFL learners. Second, with reference to the level of English proficiency, the three groups showed a significant difference. When it comes to the advanced group, EK dictionary users showed the best performance, while in the intermediate and beginner groups, the EEK dictionary was the best. Third, in the first vocabulary test, the EEK group was the best for the informative text. With reference to the narrative text, each group showed different results. In the second vocabulary test, there was a significant difference among the three groups. EK and EEK dictionary users showed better performance than EE dictionary users. Fourth, when it comes to the long-term memory on vocabulary, there was no significant difference in the advanced group, while there was in the intermediate and beginner groups, which means that type of dictionary does not affect the performance of an advanced group. While in the intermediate and beginner groups, EEK dictionary use showed best performance. It implies that EEK dictionaries are the most effective for remembering words for a long time. Lastly, the affective area survey revealed no significant difference among the groups, except only one item. However, the opinions of the students on the effectiveness of the dictionaries in learning English were different. Most students thought that EEK dictionary was the most useful.

      • 무작위 진동 기법을 이용한 기계기초의 진동해석에 관한 실험적 연구

        본 연구에서는 무작위 진동 기법을 통하여 물성이 알려져 있지 않은 모래 지반 위에 놓인 강성기초의 수직 진동 거동을 분석하는 방법을 제안하였다. 수직 진동 체험을 위한 모형 기초는 질량비와 반경이 다른 11개의 도형 기초를 제작 사용하였으며 실험 지반은 모래를 성토하여 이용하였다. 연구 결과, 본 연구에서 제안된 방법은 지반을 반무한탄성체로 가정한 단순화된 에널로그보다 정확한 진동 거동이 추정되었다. 본 방법에 의한 추정 공진 진동수는 실측 공진 진동수두 잘 일치하였으며, 실측 변위에 대한 추정 공진 변위의 비는 본 실험 지반에 대하여 0.5~1.35의 범위에 있음을 알 수 있었다. In this study, a random vibration technique to anaiyze the vertical vibration of rigid circular footings on sand whose material properties are not previously determind is proposed. Total of 11 circular model footings varing mass ratio and radius are constructed for the vibration experim eat and the elastic half space is represented by compacted sand layer From the random vibration experiments, it is found that the technique suggested in this study gives more accurate prediction of circular footing behavior under vertical vibration than the simplified analog which assumes the subsoils as elastic half space. The predicted resonant frequene iris agree very well with the measured values from the slnusoidal vibration experiments. The ratio of the predicted resonant amplitudes to the measured values vary between 0.5 and 1,35 for the site used for the vibration experiments in this study.

        방사성물질 수송용기 충격완충제 케이스의 좌굴변형에 의한 충격흡수효과

        The energy-absorbing characteristic of impact limiters affects the cask design so significantly that it should be evaluated as accurate as possible. The objective of this study is to find the influence of the impact limiter's steel case and gusset plates which enclose the shock absorbing cellular material on the impact energy absorption. The influence of impact limiter's steel case and gusset plate stiffeners on the impact energy absorption behavior under horizontal drop impact was evaluated for a radioactive isotope transport cask. Though the impact limiters mitigate the impact damage of the cask, the impact limiter's steel case and gusset plate stiffeners increase the impact force so significantly that should be designed as soft as possible. The impact analysis without considering impact limiter's steel case and gusset plates stiffener gives non-conservative results, so the stiffness of the steel case and gusset plates should be considered in impact analysis.
