The aim of this thesis is to enquire into the types of Christian faith in Korea, which have been historically and socially and socially conditioned, so much from the traditional forms of Christian creeds and theology. The attempt to analyse present forms of faith in Korea has been taken place in the light of a study on the process and the nature of the interaction between the religious and mental form of Korean on the one hand and the Western Christianity on the other. The method applied for the research is a statistical and descriptive one, under which basis the materials collected from the churches in Chung Chung Do were critically clawed and analysed. The churches were selected among the middle size churches in the community; and it was strictly observed that the names of the churches should not be known for good. In order to carry out this research, the ideal form-the traditional forms and types of faith are set forth (it is not, of course, to be claimed that the traditional forms of faith are never conditional and absolute). And then the questionnaires were compared with those forms so that critical judgements are to be given. The contents of this questionnaire are such as: on the nature of Christianity, on the understanding of the nature of cod, Jesus Christ, the nature of Church, Sacraments, the denominations, the nature of faith, the relation of faith with the affairs of the world, the Word of God and the Revelation, the style of Christian life in the world, the understanding of the revival meeting and the nature of Soul etc. The result of this research shows that the Christian faith in Korea today is by and large conditioned tremendouily both by the pietistic mode of modern Christianity and by the religious type and mental form of Korean peculiar to its own. In short, it is mystical in faith and piety, sectarian in the understanding of the Christian community with every elements of theology of sects, and Korean in its conception of Soul, God and faith. This thesis will certainly direct the churches in Korea to reconsider their faith and theology, and do something Proper for the adjustment and reorientation of Christian life, with an adequate reservation on the function and the efficiency of the indigenization of 'Christianity into the soil of Korea. Theology and training for the Christian piety are profoundly necessitated for the new days of Korean Church, and that must be done under the light of the traditional faith of Christianity.

우리나라 최초의 일간신문 매일신문은 독립협회계의 인사들, 특히 배재학당안의 협성회계 인사를 중심으로 발행된 신문이다. 따라서 배재학당의 감리교 정신과 독립협회의 개화추진 정신이 엇섞인 언론이었다. 거기 기독교적 신앙의 깊이가 배여 있었음은 여기에 대개 더듬을 수 있다. 그러나 우리는 이 신문에 기독교에 대한 독립 언급의 논설이나 기사가 비교적 으뜸하다는 사실을 목격한다. 기독교계 신문이 이미 발행되고 있었다 함이 그 한 원인일수 있으나, 살피건대 어떤 선교목표가 있었기 때문인 것으로 여겨진다. 매케이가 말한 선육신적 원리가 있었던 것이 사실이다. 초기선교상황에서 신앙부터 우선 수용하게 한다는 종교 회심의 전도는 어려웠기 때문이었다. 그러나 이런 선교에 집중되는 활동을 하면서도, 이런 결실이 결국 선육신적 본체, 그것이 있다는의 원리를 강조한 곳에 이 신문의 독특한 공헌이 있다. 다 믿어서 독립, 부강, 권리, 문명의 결심이 있으니 반드시 그 본원에서부터 출발하라는 것이었다. 최병헌의, 곧 마음에 있는 것이 사상으로 구현된다는 원리를 견지한 것이었다.

가. 우리 연세신학 - 한국신학계에서 그 어간 현저하고도 눈부신 공적 남겼고 또 남길 것이다. 그것은 한국신학계나 교회 갱신의 힘이요, 그 체질의 균질화에로까지 이끌 수 있는 저력을 가지고 있다. 나. 연세신학의 교육은 한국교회에서의 가장 충실하게 그 요청 성취를 이루어 주는 신학교육기관으로 확고한 자리잡고 있음을 입증. 1. 대학 진학 희망자의 성적에서 국내 최고수준, 2. 목회지도자과정 및 하기목회자 신학세미나에의 수다한 교단 배경의 수많은 목사들의 참가에서. 현재(1994)까지 매기 대개 700명정도 참석. 이 하기 신학세미나는 참석자들의 계속 연례참석이라는 장기 교육과정 성격으로 굳혀지고 있는 현상, 그 만한 교육내용의 참신, 변화가 특징. 다. 우리 연세신학의 미래는 열려진 세계에 대한 사명으로 확인되고 있다. 1. 우리의 신학적 특수성을 확립 보존하는 데에 "길의 신학"과 같은 학풍과 학맥의 형성긴요 2. 이러한 방향으로 연세신학과의 구상도 가능하고, 3. 그 저력으로 세계적 협의체를 조직. 4. 우리의 활동상과 공헌을 우리 교육 계승의 후계확보에서나 우리 자신들의 친근한 결속을 위해서 활용할 수 있다. 라. 우리는 이 시대에 특별한 사명으로 부름받고 파송된 역사적 사명감으로 그 의무감이 있다. 1. 우리는 연세신학의 한 공동체안에 어차피 결연된 한 신학적 혈연 공동체이며, 이 연세신학의 운명이 곧 우리의 운명이 되는 것이다. 2. 우리는 우선 연세대학교안에서의 존경 받는 집단. 강력한 저력을 가진 집단, 그 정신적 가치를 이 연세대학교 안에서 구현해 나가는 중추적 메카니즘. 우리의 발언이 우리 연세 발전에서 권위로 들려지는 그런 집단으로 현상화시켜야 할 것이다. 3. 우리에게 그런 힘이 있다는 것을 보여주는 것이 이번 이80주년 기념행사의 일환이다.
