        대면적 시트의 환원된 산화 그래핀을 활용한 메쉬 패턴 투명히터 제작

        Transparent heaters are widely used for defrosting to improve visibility, insulation or heating of buildings, and thermal treatment. Indium tin oxide (ITO), which has excellent transmittance and electrical conductivity, is one of the representative materials used for these transparent heaters. However, it has several drawbacks including high material price, limited processability in large-area, and brittleness. Here, we fabricated a mesh-patterned transparent heater utilizing an inexpensive and solution-processable material, reduced graphene oxide, as an alternative to ITO. In this study, electrical conductivity was improved by the synthesis of large-sized reduced graphene oxide (LrGO). Over 80% of transmittance was obtained by adapting mesh patterns. Moreover, to alleviate the decrease in transmittance due to diffraction by the mesh pattern, transparent heaters were prepared with six different mesh patterns by changing the space between the repeating pattern units. Comparing the transmittance values from calculations and measurements, the HH (honeycomb-honeycomb) mesh pattern was determined to have the minimum degradation of transmittance due to diffraction. In addition, the electrical/optical properties and heating performances of LrGO meshpatterned transparent heaters were compared to confirm the optimal mesh pattern. As a result, frost was completely removed within 30 seconds under a low power of 0.07 W using a H-H 85% mesh patterned heater.

        모신 하미드의 서쪽으로의 출구 : 이주를 바라보는 더 넓은 시각

        This paper aims to explore a broader perspective on migration by analyzing Exit West written by Mohsin Hamid. According to Kevin Kenny, whereas diaspora in an old sense homogenizes all members of a given migrant group based on their homeland, diaspora in a more flexible and critical sense focuses on how migrants interact and reveals the variations among members of a same migrant group. He argues that diaspora in the flexible sense is more usable in understanding of migration because even people who leave the same place during the same period can do so for different reasons and the character of every migration changes over time. In Exit West, Saeed and Nadia can be seen as examples of members of a same migrant group who pursue different values. Saeed, who has the nationalist attitude, feels comfortable with people who share the same nationality, religion, and language with him, while Nadia, who has the cosmopolitan attitude, enjoys interacting with people from different backgrounds with her. The change of their relationship throughout their journey from homeland to Mykonos, London, and Marin shows how the character of every migration changes over time. Also, the short insertion scenes in each chapter offer an alternative perspective on migrants and migration.

        모신 하미드의 『마지막 백인』(The Last White Man): 인종주의의 존재 유형과 극복 방식

        This paper examines how Jim Crow racism and color-blind racism operate in the current world by analyzing The Last White Man written by Mohsin Hamid. Eduardo Bonilla-Silva argues that contemporary racial inequality is reproduced through a new racial ideology, which he coins “color-blind racism.” According to him, whereas racism practices in slavery and the Jim Crow era were overt and brutal, color-blind racism practices in the post-civil rights era are covert and subtle. In The Last White Man, Oona’s mother and Anders can be seen as examples of Jim Crow racism and color-blind racism, respectively. Oona’s mother insists the inferiority and dangerousness of people of color and favors a separation between white and non-white people. Anders, who has made a superficial relationship with a dark skinned cleaning guy at the gym he works for, despises himself and gets paranoid about people’s gazes after being changed dark. Oona, as an alternative character, overcomes the racial ideology through her tenacious efforts to focus on her and other people’s inner side. (Seoul National University)

        모신 하미드의 『주저하는 근본주의자』: 절대적 환대를 통한 미국과 이슬람 국가 사이의 화해

        This paper analyzes how Mohsin Hamid's novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist suggests a way of rapprochement between the United States and the Islamic countries, drawing on Jacques Derrida's discussion of hospitality. Derrida explains absolute hospitality is to give place to foreigners and let them come without asking their names. Through the figure of the narrator, Changez, in the story outside the frame, Hamid gives an example of a native who offers absolute hospitality to a foreigner. In the story inside the frame, the Western prejudices and stereotypes related to muslim men are satirized and rejected by Changez. At the same time, Changez's endless love for Erica shows how he desperately wants to be connected to America again. Dwelling on such analysis, this study argues that The Reluctant Fundamentalist suggests absolute hospitality towards migrants as a way of bringing the rapprochement between the United States and the Islamic countries.

        Recent Clinical Manifestation and Prognosis of Fungal Endophthalmitis: A 7-Year Experience at a Tertiary Referral Center in Korea

        This study analyzed the recent causes, prognosis, and treatment strategies for fungal endophthalmitis. A retrospective review of patients who were diagnosed with fungal endophthalmitis at our center was conducted. The fungal organisms isolated from each patient and the visual prognosis according to the route of infection and treatment method were analyzed. A total of 40 eyes from 30 patients with fungal endophthalmitis were included in this study. Candida species were the most common causative organisms in 35 of 40 eyes. Endogenous and exogenous endophthalmitis were observed in 33 and 7 eyes, respectively. Pre- and post-treatment best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was not significantly different between endogenous endophthalmitis and exogenous endophthalmitis. The 40 eyes were treated using the following modalities: intravitreal antifungal agent injection with intravenous antifungal agent (16 eyes), vitrectomy with intravenous antifungal agent (14 eyes), intravenous antifungal agent alone (9 eyes), and evisceration (1 eye). Post-treatment BCVA only significantly improved after treatment in the vitrectomy group. Candida species were the most common cause of fungal endophthalmitis, irrespective of the route of infection. The visual prognosis of fungal endophthalmitis was generally poor. In conclusion, if the general condition of the patient tolerates a surgical procedure, prompt vitrectomy and intravitreal injection of antifungal agents can improve visual acuity

        성에 제거용 대면적 투명 히터를 위한 환원된 산화 그래핀 연구

        Transparent heaters are promising devices because of their versatile applications in vehicles, smart windows, and sensors, etc. Indium tin oxide is widely used for transparent heater materials due to its high electronic conductivity and visible light transmittance. However, the cost of indium is too high, and its fabrication needs sophisticated processes, so that many studies have focused on alternative materials which are inexpensive and easy-to-synthesize. Graphene is a two-dimensional material in which carbon atoms bond to form a hexagonal structure, and it can be an alternative material due to its superior electronic/ thermal conductivity and cost-effectiveness. Here, we chemically treated graphite to synthesize large-sized graphene oxide (LGO), and coated it on a glass substrate, followed by reduction using hydrogen iodide for large-sized reduced graphene oxide (LrGO) on glass. From surface characterizations, we confirmed that the lateral size of the LGO was over 50 μm and the LGO sheets were uniformly coated on the glass, which minimized intersheet contact resistance. Structural characterizations demonstrated that the LGO sheets were reduced to LrGO and the LrGO sheets coated on the glass showed a transmittance of 76.2 % at 550 nm with a sheet resistance of 0.98 kΩ. Finally, the temperature of the substrate increased up to 30 oC when 30 V of voltage was applied for 5 min, and the frost on the glass surface vanished within 1 min.

        암모니아를 이용한 그래핀 구조 제어 및 고감도 압력 센서로의 적용

        Graphene has been used in various fields because of its excellent mechanical, optical, electrical, and thermal properties. However, its intrinsic low sensitivity to pressure limits its sensor applications. To overcome this drawback, many researchers have tried to improve the sensitivity by controlling the defects on the graphene, but have yet to report a significant increase in sensitivity compared to the pristine graphene. Herein, we fabricated a graphene-based highly sensitive pressure sensor by flowing ammonia gas during chemical vapor deposition. The ammonia gas assisted the generation of nano-sized defects due to nitrogen doping in the graphene lattice, as well as macro-sized cracks in the graphene layer, due to the corrosion of the Cu surface. We regulated the concentration ratio of ammonia gas and methane gas during the graphene synthesis, which controlled the crack generation. These cracks weakened the in-plane force of the networks in the geometric structure of the graphene, thereby allowing them to deform more easily under external force, and changing the resistance of the sensor dramatically. As a result, the sensitivity of the pressure sensor increased about 10,000 times higher than that of the pristine graphene. These results suggest that controlling defects to improve graphene’s mechanical sensitivity provides a promising route to pressure sensor applications.

        20세기 초 기능주의 중심의 바우하우스에서부터 보여 지는 미니멀 스타일은 60년대에 이르러 비로소 “미니멀리즘”으로 명명되었으며, 미니멀의 확고한 스타일을 가지고, 20세기 전반에 걸쳐 모든 디자인 분야-패션, 실내 디자인-에 지대한 영향을 끼쳐왔다. 기능주의적 단순함을 추구하는 미니멀 스타일은 모더니즘의 극단적인 표현으로써, 60년대 후반 모더니즘의 퇴조와 함께 서서히 영향력이 감소되었다가 20세기 후반 포스트모더니즘 시대에의 다원화 현상의 한 주류로 다시금 우리 생활 문화 전반에 걸쳐 나타나고 있으며, 그 영향력은 21세기인 현재에도 더욱 강력하게 계속되고 있다. 본 연구는 포스트 모더니즘적 경향이 지배적인 현시대에 재등장한 미니멀 스타일에 대한 현상을 분석함으로써 모더니즘시대의 미니멀 스타일과의 차별성을 이해하고 그 의미를 재조명하고자 한다. In the early 20th century, the minimal style which was shown from the Bauhaus, in the 60's which was called "the minimalism" for the first time, which had definite style, in the center of functionalism had a great effect on design, fashion and interior design through the first half of the 20th century. As the minimal style which pursued the simplicity of functionalism was the modernism's extreme expression, in the end of 60's it declined gradually as well as the modernism but in the end of the 20th century, it has reappeared in our current life culture as one of the trend of the pluralism phenomenon in the post-modernism age and its effect is going on nowadays more and more strongly. In this project, analyzing the phenomenon of minimal style which was revived in the post-modernism age, we hope to understand differences between the minimal style in the modernism age and that in the post-modernism age, and substantiate again the meanings of them.
