        Lead is known to have numerous adverse effects especially on humans. In this study the lead concentration of spring water. tap during two seasons water and mechanical purified water in Jeju Province was analysed for two periods during two seasons (from September 28 to 30 and from December 20 to 22, 2007). Water sarnples were collected from 10 sites and analysed for lead using Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer methods. The results obtained were summarized as follows: The lead concentration of spring water in Jeolmul. Sanbanggulsa, Yakcheonsa and Yeongsil was not detected in the level of ppb unit. Also, The lead concentration of mechanical purified water was not detected in the level of ppb unit. The mean lead concentration in the tap water of 3 places was detected in the level of 0.455ppb, which was below the maximum acceptable limit set by the South Korea’rs water quality standards. The study showed that the lead concentration of drinking water in Jeju Province is suitable for the water criteria in quality of drinking water. Also, a need for a continuous pollution monitoring programme of tap water in Jeju.

        I have studied on the potassium and sodium values in control sera by Flame emission spectrophotometry and Ion selective electrode analyzing method. The results are as follows; 1) When measuring Na and K, two instruments gave good precision. But the precision of I.S.E. was better than F.E.S. 2) The potassium measured high values of two methods by Hemolytic sera. 3) The potassium measured high values of F.E.S. method by the smoking of air pollution. But the I.S.E. method not changed.

      • Vitamin C가 요당 검사에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        There are the two major methods of urine glucose analysis : reduction method and enzyme method. In reduction method, operating on Benedict method using cupric ions, vitamin - C induces a false positive reaction. However, in enzyme method, operating on glucose oxidase method, vitamin-C induces a false negative reaction. This research experiments by means of the above methods about how vitamin- C has an effect on the reactions and how it induces false positive and negative reactions in some degrees of concentration. The results are as follows : 1. Vitamin - C makes a false negative reaction in the GOD method. 2. There being over the 65mg/dl of vitamin-C in urine, the GOD method has got the inhibition effect to urine glucose by vitamin - C through one minute reaction. 3. Vitamin - C makes a false positive reaction in the Benedict method. 4. There is over the 300mg/dl of vitamin - C in urine, the Benedict method has got false positive reaction to urine glucose by vitamin C.

        Geochemical studies of banded iron formations (BIFs) in the North China Craton: a review

        Majority of the banded iron formations (BIFs) in China are hosted in North China Craton (NCC). The BIFs in NCC are interlayered with metamorphics including amphibolite, and mainly composed of quartz, magnetite, and hematite with minor minerals such as garnet, epidote, chlorite, calcite, biotite, and pyrite. They were formed during from Paleoarchean to the early Paleoproterozoic with a peak at Neoarchean. Wall rock and Fe ore bodies in the BIFs have experienced greenschist to granulite facies metamorphism. Because of the intensive post-ore geologic activities, ores in the BIFs in NCC are characterized as low Fe grade (30.35 wt% of Fe in average) compared to those in the world. Most of the BIFs in China are affiliated into Algoma-type BIF. The Fe ores are composed of SiO2 and Fe2O3 T with minor Al2O3, MgO, CaO, Rb, Sr, Zr, Hf, Cr, and Co. Post Archean Average Shale (PAAS) normalized REY (rare earth elements with Y) patterns in the Fe ores show depletion in light REE (rare earth elements; LREE) compared to heavy REE (HREE) with positive La and Eu anomalies, suggesting that the Fe ores in BIFs were precipitated from the seawater with hydrothermal fluids. Trace elements ratios further suggest that the Fe and Si in the BIFs were derived from volcanic-related submarine hydrothermal fluids. Incorporation of continental-derived clastic materials are insignificant in most of the BIFs, while a few exhibit some incorporations. Ce anomalies in the Fe ore indicate an evolution of redox state during the BIF formation. Tectonic models in NCC and the formation of the BIFs were suggested by the geochemical and geological investigations in this study.

      • 제주도의 헌혈자 및 성분제제에 대한 고찰

        The blood is the most impotant medical resource, and transfusion service depend on voluntary donors. Purpose of this studies is to compare the statical datas of voluntary donors in Cheju with the nation of voluntary donors. The result inverstigated distribution chart on classification of voluntary donors according to sex, age, occupation, ABO group and blood components. The authors in vestigated blood donors from 1988 to 1991, with the Cheju Red CROSS. The conclusions are summarized as following. 1. The rate of disqualified donors were 1988 year(5%) , 1989 year(6.3%) , 1990 year(10.1%), and 1991 year(10.4%). 2. Distribution by sex group showed that males were 82.4% and female were 17.6% in 1991. 3. Distribution by age group showed that 16 to 19 years old were 44.6%, 20 to 29 were 46.6%, 30 to 39 were 6.9%, 41 to 50 were 1.9%, in 1991. 4. Donor distribution by occupation showed that students were 52.7%, company employees were 6.5%, govement officials were 6.5%, millitary army were 19.1% and others were 19.7% in 1991. 5. It showed that group A were 30%, group B were 31.3%, group 0 were 27%, and group AB were 11.7% in 1991. 6. Distribution by supply of blood components showed that whole blood were 7.3%, concentrated RBC were 71%, platelet concentrated plasma wera 4.6% and fresh frozen plasma were 17.1% in 1991.

        Preventive maintenance was importanted for the AutoAnalyzer. Glucose precision test by the Sampler was assayed with use of the Glucose oxidase Re-agent. Linearity test by the Analyzer was assayed with use of the NADH. The method for both Glucose precision and linearity test was established through this study. The above procedure was to be effective in the preventive maintenance, and simple method. This method could be effective and accuracy method for the preventive maintenance.

      • EIA 법과 RPHA 법에 의한 HBsAg 및 HBeAg 검출법에 대한 비교 검토

        The positivity rate of HBsAg and HBeAg with 200 sera were studied by EIA method and RPHA method. The results are summarized as follows : 1) Positive rate of HBsAg was RPHA(12.5 %) and EIA method(14.5 %). 2) Positive rate of HBeAg was RPHA(8.5 %) and EIA method(11.5 % ). 3) The correlation between RPHA and EIA method in 200 cases was 97.7%.

        According to the results of this study. QCS Control Levels of three major hospitals in Jeju were ranked as 'the control-1' and 'the control-2' of low and high against standards. Also. the use of automated analyzer has minimized the cases of Unrest and Trend. Levy Jennings's control level was mainly used for quality control chart and the score of shift and CV were large. Therefore, the results showed that the management of quality control in three major hospitals in Jeju seemed to be excellent. Although the large score of shift and CV would not be considered as a major problem at the moment. more concern needed to be placed on these because of the possibility of getting worse.

      • 제주도내 전립선 특이향원(PSA) 양성율에 대한 조사

        Propose : I had researched the rate of positiveness of PSA by age from 1996 to 1998 for assuming the rate of appearance of men's prostate cancer in Cheju-Do. Materials and Methods :I had researched 2,498 sampling person's PSA in their blood by RIA analysis method from 1996 to 1998 in Cheju-Do. Results : The average rate of positiveness of PSA in Cheju-Do was similar to the national rate of appearance of prostate cancer. But, the age of 20s to 40s, the rate of positiveness of PSA was higher than the rate of appearance of prostate cancer. Conclusions As the result of above, men in Cheju-Do need to regularly monitoring of the prostate disease, especially the adolescence.

        북중국 우강 지역에 분포하는 호상철광상의 성인에 대한 지구화학적 연구

        우강 호상철광상은 북중국 남쪽 끝 부분의 타이후아 복합체에 위치 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우강 호상철광상에서 산출되는 철광석 시료의 전암 분석 결과의 해석을 통하여 우강 호상철광상의 유형과 성인을 이해하고자 하였다. 이 광상의 철광석의 조직은 밴딩 구조가 약하게 나타나는 것과, 밴딩 구조가 나타나지 않는 것 두 가지로 분류할 수 있 다. 주요 구성 광물들은 조립질의 자철석, 석영, 휘석, 각섬석 등이다. 지구화학적 연구 결과 우강 호상철광상은 해수 와 0.1~1 %를 차지하는 열수로부터 철을 공급받아 형성 되었다. 또한 이 과정에서 육지성 물질로부터의 철 공급이 있었음을 확인하였다. 이전 연구 결과와 종합해 보았을 때, 대부분의 철광석에서 Ce 이상치는 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않 지만 일부 철광석에서는 음의 Ce 이상치를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 우강 호상철광상은 환원 환경이 우세한 해양 환경 에서 형성되었지만, 상대적으로 산화된 해양의 표층 환경의 가능성을 제시해 준다. 이러한 지구 화학적 특징을 바탕으로 우강 호상철광상이 형성된 지구조적인 환경은 대륙붕 연안이나 후열도 분지환경이라 생각된다. 또한 우강 호상 철광상은 혼성암, 각섬석 편마암, 규암, 대리암이 함께 산출되는데, 이는 연구 광상이 화산 활동과 밀접한 연관성이 없 음을 지시한다. 본 연구에서는 지금까지 보고된 지구화학적 분석 결과와 이번 연구 결과를 종합해 우강 호상철광상이 슈피리어 유형 호상철광상의 특징을 보임을 확인하였다.
