This is to outline the main contents of Chim-Gu-Dae-Sung by Yang, Ge-Joo and to introduce the historical background in which the Book came into being: 1. The Book is a collection of all the experiences in Acupuncture and Moxa available in the days before the Myurrg dynasty(1601 A. D.) of China. The Book is important in that it accomplished and techniques of Acupuncture and Moxa is important in that it accomplished the necessary research into the main stream of principles and techniques of Acupuncture and Moxa treatment to hand them down to us. 2. It is of great importance as well that the Book played a critical part in laying the foundation on which Acupunature and Moxa could make further progress when it crumpled, more or less, overshadowed by the then popular herb medicine treatment. 3. Still another significance of appearance of the Book is that it contributed greatly to our understanding of the classical skills of Acupuncture and Moxa, leading to our efficient application thereof today. 4. The Book made another powerful contribution to the establishment of theoretical basis of Acupuncture and Moxa treatment, outlining various theories of viscera and meridian and reviewing precisely the traditional Acupoints . 5. The Book is of much help today for our clinical treatment, showing definitely which Acupoints can treat what disease, illness or pain; showing all the Acupo i nts found in each part of human body; and showing the key Acupo ints to be chosen to ease a particular symptom. 6. Of various theories of the classical Acupuncture and Moxa appearing in the Book. some are considered to have to be more cautiously analyzed in our future study, for the principles of Yin and Yang are overly applied thereto. 7. Most of the Books of Acupuncture and Moxa which have come out since the publication of the Book are written largely based upon the Book. These means that the Book is a sort of standard of theories and techniques of Acupuncture and Moxa; it preserves traditionalism of Acupuncture and Moxa; and it is indispensable for our future study of Acupuncture and Moxa.

Personnel who had contributed Medical development in history are classified into four types in this paper. The first, it is personnel that studied the medicine or treated a patient like doctors, medical researchers, physicians, nurses, etc.. The second, it is personnel that made law or systems about medicine or published the medical books. The third, it is personnel that received the medical treatment like patients or their protectors. The last, it is personnel that are teachers, students, friends, and relatives of people above mentioned. The studies of medical personnel in history are important. Those are more effective and easier informations than medicine itself. This paper is the study on medical personnel about HyangYak medicine that soley made from HyangYak(鄕藥) and that of classifying the informations about these persons.
