N/A Objectives: The cat fur allergen used in skin prick test was known to be contaminated with housedust mites. So we intended to evaluate the clinical importance of cat fur as a causative allergen in patients with allergic diseases. Methods: We performed skin prick tests with cat allergen of Torii company(Japan), Bencard company (England) and home made extracts in 387 patients, We detected specific IgE by 3M FAST-plus and ELISA method using home made cat fur allergen, developed at this class. To characterize the allergenic components, cat fur extracts were fractionated by 12 % sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE) and then transferred onto nitrocellulose membrane and probed with sera of cat fur sensitive patients Results: 1) Out of 387 patients, 77(19.9%) showed more than 1+results on skin prick test. There were no significant differences in the rates of positive results ac- cording to the allergic diseases, but the age groups were correlated with the positive results(younger than 30: 34.5%, between 30 and 50: 14.4%, older than 50: 6.8%). 2) Cat ELISA showed specific inhibition to cat fur allergen and Cat ELISA inhibition test revealed the linear dose response curve on the added amounts of cat allergn into pooled sera. 67.7% out of Torii cat fur sensitive patients(A/H ratio≥1) showed positive results in Cat ELISA for specific IgE antibody. 3) Cat fur extracts showed 15 protein bands by SDS-PAGE, then they were transferred onto nitrocellulose membrane and probed with sera of 16 cat-fur sensitive patients, one sera pool of patients with RAST class 3, and three negative controls and with biotin-conjugated anti IgE-avidin peroxidase. Six IgE binding protein bands were detected at 94, 73, 56, 44, 28 and 21 kilodalton of molecular weight. Out of six IgE binding bands, MW 21KD concerned as major cat allergen, Fel d 1, were noted in five sera(31.3% ). Conclusion: It is suggested that cat fur can be regarded as an important allergenic fur and that we need further studies to st.andardize cat antigens for in vivo and in vitro tests.

The purpose of this study was to examine changes in nutrient intake in patients at nutritional risk. We included106 malnourished patients who were admitted to Severance Hospital from March to September 2014. The average age was 59.0±11.6 years old and 59 patients were male (59.7%). The majority of diagnosis wascancer (94.3%). We evaluated patients` nutritional status by scored patient-generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA), anthropometric measurement (height, weight, body composition by Bioelectrical impedanceanalysis), hand grip strength, biochemical and dietary assessment. The patients` daily intakes of energy andprotein (1,019.5±706.4 kcal, 40.4±27.7 g) during hospitalization were significantly lower than their usual intakes(1,382.0±499.8 kcal, 54.4±25.1 g, P<0.001). Serum levels of albumin, cholesterol, and total lymphocyteswere significantly reduced during hospital stay. The negatively influencing factors for reduced dietary intake wereanorexia (42.5%), abdominal distention (14.2%), pain (13.2%), and others. The results of this study could beused to establish baseline data for developing new strategies for nutritional intervention in malnourished patients.

원발성 골종양은 비교적 드문 질환이지만 골육종과 유잉육종은 소아청소년기에서 가장 흔히 발생하는 종양이다. 복합 항암요법을 이용한 수술 전, 후의 항암치료를 도입함으로써 매우 큰 생존율 향상을 이루었으며, 대부분의 환자가 현재 사지 구제 수술이 가능하게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 생존율 향상은 최근 답보상태로 denosumab과 같이 분자유전학적 메커니즘 기반 약제를 이용한 새로운 약제 기반 임상연구가 절실한 실정이다. 따라서 본 저자들은 원발성 골종양의 다양한 분류와 항암치료의 최신 지견을 리뷰하고자 한다. Despite the rarity of primary bone tumors, osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma are the most common primary malignant bone tumors in children and adolescents. Multiagent chemotherapy regimens for neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment remarkably improved the survival outcome for patients with osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma, therefore, most patients are now limb-salvage candidates. However, survival rate reached a plateau for last decades and is still unsatisfactory in the metastatic and relapse setting. Therefore, as seen in denosumab in giant cell tumor, further clinical trials based on molecular mechanism are warranted. This article reviews the current state of the art of systemic chemotherapy by focusing on the clinical heterogeneity of each subtype.

Even the overall incidence is decreasing and the proportion of early gastric cancer is increasing from the national mass screening program, still gastric cancer is the major issue in Korea. Multimodality approach and the development of novel therapeutic agents enabled us to improve the survival rate of gastric cancer. However, the proper treatment strategy for the subgroups of patients is necessary, which is now categorized based on the clinicopathologic parameters. We need more in-depth information regarding the molecular biology of gastric cancer, and the development of novel targeted biological agents and the biomarkers for the future. Currently, the recent chemotherapeutic agents showed the improved response in advanced gastric cancer. Hence, the basic concept of adjuvant chemotherapy, palliative chemotherapy, neoadjuvant treatment with or without incorporation of radiotherapy become settle down with more evidences from several phase III trials. Especially, after understanding the difference between Asia and Western countries including biology, ethnic difference, operation technology, and the treatment approaches, the qualified, well-designed multinational clinical trials are on-going. 두경부 편평상피세포암주에서 방사선 내성 관련 유전인자의 확인

Background and Objective:Radiation resistance(RR) is one of main determinants of treatment outcome in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC), but accurate prediction of RR is difficult. We aim to establish RR OSCC cell lines and identify genes related with RR by a measurement of altered gene expression after inducing RR. Material and Methods:OSCC cell lines, SCC15, SCC25 and QLL1, were treated with 2Gy radiation per session, and parts of them were alive in finally accumulated dosage of 60Gy through 30 times repetition of radiotherapy for inducing RR cell lines. We compared results of cDNA array and proteomics in non-radiated cell lines and RR cell lines to detect changes of gene expression. Western blot was used for the validation of results. Results:cDNA array revealed 265 commonly up-regulated genes and 268 commonly down-regulated genes in 3 RR cell lines comparing their non-radiated counterpart. Among them, 30 cancer related genes were obtained. Proteomics showed 51 commonly altered protein expressions in 3 RR cell lines and 18 cancer related proteins were obtained. Among the detected genes, we found NM23-H1 and PA2G4 were over-expressed in both cDNA array and pro-teomics. Western blot showed increased expression of NME1 in RR cell lines but not in PA2G4. Conclusion: We concluded that NM23-H1 may be a candidate of RR related gene and over-expression of NM23-H1 could be a biomarker to predict RR in OSCC.
