      • 한국인 성인에서 Fm θ의 출현 양상에 관한 연구

        The distinctive theta rhythm that appears at the frontal midline during the performance of mental tasks has been designated as frontal midline theta(Fmθ). Author tried to confirm the appearance pattern of Fmθ in Koean young adults, and investigated the relations among the appearance rates of Fmθ, sex, kinds of mental tasks, characteristics of personality trait, impulsiveness, temperament, and anxiety level. The subjects were 42 healthy male and female students(28 male, 14 female) aged 23 to 25(average age 23.9±0.6). The results were summarized as follows. 1. The individual variation of the appearance and appearance rates of Fmθ were large, and the appearance rates of Fmθ under Uchida-Kraepelin test were ranged 28.6~31.0%, and under reaction time were ranged 4.8%~21.4%. 2. The appearance rates of Fmθ tend to increase under continuous mental task than simlpe concentration. 3. There were no sexual difference in the apearance rate of Fmθ. 4. In the aspect of the anxiety level, the appearance rate of Fmθ seems to bo increased when the person's level of anxiety is low, the excitement strength is high, and less impulsive. 5. In the aspect of the personality, the appearance rate of Fmθ seems to be increased when the person's personality is introvert, the excitement strength is high, and the motility of temperament is high.

        만성 정신분열증 환자의 정보처리에 관한 실험적 연구

        To assess whether the information processing dysfunction in schizophrenics occurs at preattentional level or attentional level, the authors investigated information processing in schizophrenia with 40 schzophrenics diagnosed by DSM-III_R and 40 normal males. The basic methodology relied on Treisman's feature-integration theory and the visual search task. Slopes and intercepts of response time which wee obtained by linear regression, and response times between two groups were analysed by MANOVA and the results were obtained as follows. 1) The slopes of response times of the schizophrenics exceed those of controls and the slopes of schziophrenics in conjunction condition exceed the slopes of schizophrenics in feature condition. The above results suggest that information processing dysfunction in chronic schizophrenics occurs at both preattentional level and attentional level but more at attentional level. 2) Intercepts of response times of the schizophrenics exceed those of controls, which suggest that schizophrenics were also impired at the early stage of informational processing. The above results suggest that information processing dysfunction in chronic schziophrenics occurs both at preattentional level and attentional level but more at attentional level.

      • Induction of Airway Inflammation Through Adoptive Transfer of In Vitro Stimulated Lymphocytes

        Most biological functions are shared by several kinds of cells and which are performed within a complex molecular network. Thus, it is not easy to verify an interrelationship between a biological function and any specific cell type. Adoptive cell transfer model has been one of methods most widely used for functional studies of specific cell types. Asthma or lung inflammation is a very complex disease in which lots of cells and mediators are involved. Although several protocols are employed in the adoptive cell transfer model of mouse lung inflammation, the differential outcomes have not been fully defined. In the present study, it was aimed to evaluate several different adoptive cell transfer procedures for their inductive potentials of in vivo lung inflammation. Mice (C57BL/6) were immunized intraperitoneally and in hind footpads with ovalbumin (OVA) at days 0 and 5, and 7 days after final immunization draining lymph node cells (LNC) or spleen cells (SPC) were collected. Those cells were in vitro stimulated with OVA for 0-3 days and then cells were adoptively transferred to normal recipient mice. One or three days after, mice were challenged with OVA aerosol for 12 min or I hr and after another 3 days, mice were anesthized and then airway inflammation was examined by leukocyte and eosinophil number in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). In vitro stimulation of cells was prerequisite prior to adoptive transfer for induction of leukocyte recruitment into airway and 12 hr-stimulation was sufficient Transfer of 2x10^(7) cells resulted in the maximum level of leukocyte and eosinophil number in BALF. Both of SPC and LN T cells were comparably potent for induction of airway inflammation, suggesting that not only T cells, but also non-T cells, play a role in airway inflammation. Finally, airway inflammation was successfully provoked over 3 weeks after transfer, which shows that transferred cells are alive for, at least. 3 weeks without loss of activity.

        신체화장애의 임상 양상

        In this study, the authors investigated clinical characteristics of 32 inpatients with somatization disorder, who visited the Kosin medical center during the period from July, 1990 to May, 1991. And a comparative study on the clinical pictures between somatization disorder without depression and somatization disorder with depression was made. The results were as follows: 1) The average number of symptoms per patient was 14.3 2) 50% of patients were housewives without out-of-home job and 78.1% of patients had below high school level education. 3) Patients most frequently complained of gastrointestinal symptoms (bloating, abdominal pain) and cardiopulmonary symptoms(palpitation, dizziness). 4) Frequencies of symptoms were not significantly different between men and women. 5) Except for one symptom (sexual indifference), patients with somatization disorder were not significantly different from patients with somatization disorder and depression in frequencies of symptoms. 6) 8.7% of patients with somatization disorder and depression had positive results in DST, its rate was lower than the rate of patients with somatization disorder(22.2%).

        시험관내에서 홍화의 물 추출물이 T 및 B 림프구의 활성에 미치는 영향

        Based on the traditional application of Carthamus tinctorioustions, in the present study, we investigated in vitro an imunomodulatory activity of water extract of CF (WECF). Water extractof CF significantly increased the in vitro proliferative responses of spleen cells (SPC). However, addition of WECF during anti-CD3 activation resulted in a significant decrease in SPC proliferation. Flow cytometric analysis showed that WECF additionchanged T and B cell frequencies in anti-CD3-activated spleen cell populations. Using purified cells, it was revealed that WECFis mitogenic to B cells but rather inhibitory to T cell proliferation. Upon anti-CD3 stimulation, high concentration (1 mg/ml)of WECF significantly inhibited T cell proliferation until day 2 of stimulation. At day 3, anti-CD3-activated cells exposed toWECF recovered their proliferation to the level comparable to control. Although B cell proliferation was also inhibited in pro-liferation at day 1, it recovered sooner and then was rather augmented by WECF at day 3. These data indicate that WECF down-regulates lymphocyte proliferation at early phase of activation but T cells are more vulnerable than B cells to WECF. However,WECF acelerates activated T cell, but not B cell, apoptosis and WECF concurrently inhibited cytokine production of activatedT cells. Taken together, WECF exhibits B cell mitogenic activity and differential toxicity more pronounced to T cells, sug-gesting a possible in vivo application of WECF for specific control of T cels without alteration of B cell activity.
