This study compared the parenting styles and utilization of after-school time to determine how they affect the perception of the resilience of gifted students. For this study, descriptive analysis, ANOVA, correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis were used. As a result, the gifted students perceived themselves to be highly resilient and perceived the most positive and permissive parenting style than the mothers and fathers. In utilizing after-school time, it was confirmed that the gifted student perceived more communication time between the parent and child than the mother and father. Gifted students and their mothers showed a positive correlation with the resilience of gifted students in the concern, support, autonomous acceptance, sharing of information, and parent-child communication time. In addition, gifted students and mothers showed negative correlations with resilience in watching TV time, and fathers did not show a significant correlation. The relative influence of the variables that have a significant effect on the resilience of the gifted students is summarized as follows. The gifted students only have a significant influence on watching TV time, utilization time of information devices, and parent-child communication time but had no significant influence on the mothers and fathers. For gifted students, all of the subordinate variables of parenting style, such as support, support, autonomous acceptance and sharing of information, had a significant influence, but mothers had a significant influence only on the variables of concern, and there were no significant influences on the fathers. Based on the results of this study, three groups of gifted students, their mothers and fathers were analyzed simultaneously. Their importance was demonstrated, and suggestions of research were presented to grasp the relative influence of parenting style and utilizing after-school time on the resilience of gifted students.

Submicron colloidal silica coated with ceria were prepared by mixing of silica and nano ceria particles and modified by hydrothermal reaction. The polishing efficiency of the ceria coated silica slurry was tested over oxide film on silicon wafer. By changing the polishing pressure in the range of 140~420 g/cm2 with the ceria coated silica slurries in 100~300 nm, removal rates, WIWNU and friction force were measured. The removal rate was in the order of 200, 100, and 300 nm size silica coated with ceria. It was known that the smaller particle size gives the higher removal rate with higher contact area in Cu slurry. In the case of oxide film, the indentation volume as well as contact area gives effect on the removal rate depending on the size of abrasives. The indentation volume increase with the size of abrasive particles, which results to higher removal rate. The highest removal rate in 200 nm silica core coated with ceria is discussed as proper combination of indentation and contact area effect.

Many types of occlusal splints are used for treatment of craniomandibular disorders. Most widely used splint among them is flat-type centric relation splint. Insertion of splint into the mouth may cause increasing of vertical dimension, masticatory muscle realignment and rearrangement of maxillo-mandibular relationship, so as a result of splint treatment, occlusal relation may vary whether you like it or not. From this point of view, occlusal state of patient should be frequently monitored to prevent undesired or harmful effect during occlusal splint therapy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of occlusal splint, especially centric relation splint, on the occlusal contact state after 3 months treatment. 32 patients with craniomandibular disorders who had unilateral symptoms participated in this study. To observe and record occlusal contact state, the author used T-Scan system(Tekscan Co. U.S.A.) at both pretreatment and posttreatment. The recorded data were analyzed with regard to contact number, contact force and contact time, change of anterior tooth contact and coincidence of first contact point with affected side were observed, too. And last, the subjects were divided into 2 groups and compared, according to average value of VAS index, with respect to joint pain, sound and limitation of movement, respectively. The collected data were statistically processed with SPSS/PC^+ Package and the result as follows: 1. Total occlusal contact number and force were not changed by occlusal splint therapy but total occlusal time decreased slightly. 2. There was a tendency of increasing number of subjects with anterior tooth contact after treatment and change of first contact point side were observed in as many as 40.6% of subjects. 3. There were no difference between higher and lower group of VAS index, and between pretreatment and posttreatment in each group, either.
