One of the important activities nursing is the alleviating of discomfort including pain as providing comfort to patient. Postoperativediscomfort has been underestimated because it is only a part of postoperative physiological process and disappear in time. This study was designed to investigate the effect of relaxation thechnique on postoperative discomfort of patients with lumbosacral back pain. A total of 40 patients were selected as a subject from August 12th to October 10th 1995 who had been hispitalized at NS and OS nursing units in K medical center. Of them twenty were in the experimental group and the remaining twenty were in the control group in convenience sampling. The tools for this study were Relaxation thechnique, designed to use postoperative setting adequeately by Park, and Postoperative Discomfort Scale. The data were analyzed by use of t-test an χ² test. The study was concluded as follows:The main hypothesis, that "the experimental group who used relaxation thenique will express a lesser score of postoperative discomfort than the control group who did not use relaxation thechnique" is divided into seven sub-hypotheses. Hypothesis 1, that "the experimental group will express less postoperative pain than the control group" was supported(t=-7.04, p=0.000). Hypothesis 2, that "the experimental group will express less postoperative feeling of unpleasantness than the control group" was supported(t=-7.04, p=0.000). Hypothesis 3, that "the experimental group will express less postoperative immobilization discomfort than the control group" was supported(t=-6.66, p=0.000). Hypothesis 4, that "the experimental group will show fewer nonverbal expressions of postoperative distress than the control group" was supported(t=-3.75, p=0.01). Hypothesis 5, that "the experimental group will use analgesic medication less frequently than the control group" was supported(t=-4.15, p=0.000). Hypothesis 6, that "the experimental group will have less change in vital sings between the pre and postpostoperative periods than control group" was supported only for respiratory rate(=-4.06, p=0.000). Hypothesis 7, that "the experimental group will express less posteperative voiding difficulty than the control group" was not supperted(t=0.06, p=0.951). As a result, this study showed that relaxation thechnique has the effect to postoperative discomfort of the patients with lumbosacral back pain, so the researcher thought it is enable for nurses to help patients undergoing postoperative discomfort.

This study was conducted to identify the effectiveness of meridian acupressure for enhancement of post operative bowel movement to the patient with absolute bed rest who having surgery under general anesthesia. This study used a qusai experimental, nonequivalent control group post test only design. This subject were 44 patients, 22 for the experimental and 22 for the control group, who were admitted at KyungHee University hospital, neurosurgical unit A and B ward, assigned by matched sample by the name of operation who having microvascular decompression and laminectomy. Date were collected from May 1, 2001 to June 30, 2001 by auscultation, self report and by using 7 point face scale. The recovery of bowel sound were measured every 4 hours until gas out for 1 minute auscultation on lower abdomen after 4 hours having surgery. The time of gas out were measured by self report, the severity of nausea were measured every 4 hours for 7 point face scale and also the degree of satisfaction of nursing care were measured after 2 days having surgery with same scale. Data were analyzed with X2, t test, repeated measures ANOVA and ANOVA. The result of this study were as follows; 1. The experimental group which were implemented with meridian acupressure showed shorter time the recovery of bowel sound after having surgery than control group(t=-5.112, p=.0001). 2. The experimental group which were implemented with meridian acupressure showed shorter time of gas after having surgery than control group(t=-4.010, p=.0001) 3. The experimental group which were implemented with meridian acupressure showed decreased level of nausea score according to time interval than control group(F=21.995, p=.0001). 4. The experimental group which were implemented with meridian acupressure showed higher the degree of satisfaction of nursing care than control group(t=-4.010, p=.0001). These finding indicate that a meridian acupressure could be a effective nursing intervention for enhancement of post operative bowel movement to the patient with absolute bed rest who having surgery under general anesthesia.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' demands on child-care facilities. Methods: The research period was from February 24 to March 20, 2009. The data were collected from 5,033 nurses using self-administered questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/PC 14.0 program. Results: 71.7% of nurses answered that they would use the child-care at workplace if it is available. 48.1% of nurses answered that operating time of workplace child-care would be for 24 hours. 46.9% of nurses answered that the most important thing they considered in choosing child-care was the quality of child care. Conclusion: Expansion of child-care supports and operation of workplace child-care facility for 24 hours seem necessary for nurses who have children under 6 years old.

Purpose: This study was to examine the correlation between self-efficacy and satisfaction with college life of nursing students. Method: Design was descriptive correlative study, and subjects of this study were 352 persons who are students on 3 and 4 grade in nursing college. Measures were satisfaction with college life measurement (Cronbach`s alpha=.673) and selfefficacy measurement (Cronbach`s alpha=.810). Data were collected from September, 2004 to January, 2005. Data were analyzed with SPSS PC+ on each aim of this study. Result: Findings were as followings. 1. In relationship between self-efficacy and satisfaction with college life, there was significant positive correlation (r=.760, p=000). 2. In difference of self-efficacy and satisfaction with college life according to general characteristics there were significant differences in grade and consultor (p<.05). Conclusion: Further needs nursing intervention to improve positively the self-efficacy that may effect on satisfaction with college life.
