The karyological studies were carried out on the cultured callus from the bulbs of shallot Allium wakegi. The mitotic indicies were relatively low, 1.25-2.12%, and several mitotic abnormalities were observed in 1.24-2.39% of the mitotic cells during subculture period. Among various ploidy, diploid and tetraploid cells were most frequent and adaptive ability of tetraploid cells in culture environment revealed better than that of diploid as culture period was prolonged. Structurally changed chromosomes were also observed in the various ploidy level.

This study analyzed the distribution characteristics of invasive alien plants on the islands of the Korean Peninsula. Ten species, Rumex acetosella, Sicyos angulatus, Solanum carolinense, Ambrosia artemisiaefolia var. elatior, Ambrosia trifida, Aster pilosus, Eupatorium rugosum, Hypochaeris radicata, Lactuca scariola, and Paspalum distichum were present on 68 islands. These ecosystem-disturbing invasive alien plants appeared extensively on the islands of Gyeonggi province and Jeollanam province. The proportion of the plants on the inhabited islands (41 places, 2.15 species on average) was higher than that on the uninhabited islands (27 places, 1.07 species on average). This means that the distribution of invasive alien plants was closely related to human activity. The distribution of Ambrosia artemisiaefolia var. elatior (32 islands) and Rumex acetosella (31 islands) was the widest, and there were distinct distribution differences according to species. In the island area, the physical environment is poor compared to the mainland, and the native space is limited. Therefore, when invasive alien species enter and settle on the island, the native island plants can be damaged more than those on the mainland. In this regard, the discussion of the distribution of invasive alien plants in the island region can contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in the region.

The property of force and semantic structure in Chinese causative and Korean causative is not same. There will be a comparative study between Chinese and Korean. This paper will analyze the processing of same scene in Chinese and Korean is not consistent, and the viewpoint of Chinese is more objective than Korean.

한국전통생활과학의 유아과학교육적 적용 : A Constructivist Perspective 구성주의 관점

The purposes of the present study were two fold. The one was to verify the educational value of Korean traditional living science and the other was to find out ways to apply our traditional culture to early childhood science education. To achieve the purposes, the researchers reviewed the literature on science education as well as on Korean traditional culture examined items displayed in various folk museums located in Seoul area and finally attempted to develop exemplary science activities utilizing Korean traditional living science. According to the literature review, the values of Korean traditional living science in early childhood science education can be summarized as follows: First, the natural aspect imbedded in Korean living science is an important element in educating our children. Second, Korean traditional living science is highly valuable in the sense that it has many aspects that can match the perspective of constructivist science education. Third, Korean traditional living science can be an affluent resource area that shows ways to apply the new trend of History and Philosophy of Science to early childhood science education. In developing exemplary science activities using Korean traditional living science, the researchers selected the items of 'making Korean cake', `dyeing with natural materials', and `grinding grains'. All these items were selected due to their open-ended and process-oriented characteristics. The researchers presented concrete explanations to proceed the activities based on the constructivist perspective suggested by Kamii and DeVries. They also provided new designs for activity materials which had been revised from the traditional items.

인터랙티브 시스템을 활용하는 인터랙티브 타이포그래피 작품에 관한 연구 - ‘Interactive Floral Type'을 중심으로

Recently, due to the development of interactive media, Interactive Typography, which explores user input and interaction is under development. Unlike traditional typography which has a fixed nature, the flexible and fluid nature of Interactive Typography and Interactive System, enables diverse results. In this study, I have developed an Interactive Typography art piece based on theoretical research. By reviewing books, papers and articles, I have tried to define the meaning and characteristics of Interactive Typography. In understanding the concept of Interactive System, I have borrowed the concept of mathematical function. Based on the research, I have designed and developed an Interactive Typography piece, 'Interactive floral type' by using Adobe flash action script. This piece explores the beautiful shape of each alphabet letters and transforms individual character into a 'flower' shape through user's mouse and keyboard input. Depending on the input the size, color, and layout and motion of text changes in real time to change the letters into beautiful flowers. 근래 들어, 인터랙티브한 매체의 활성화로 인해, 사용자의 인풋과 인터랙션을 타이포그래피에 직접적으로 반영하는 인터랙티브 타이포그래피가 발전하고 있다. 기존의 고정(fixed) 되어 있던 매체에서의 타이포그래피 디자인과 달리, 유동적으로 변화하는 인터랙티브 타이포그래피는 인터랙티브 시스템(Interactive system)을 바탕으로, 다양한 디자인 결과물을 즉각적으로 양산해 낸다. 이 연구에서는 기초 연구를 통해 작품을 구현했다. 기초 연구 단계에서는 문헌 연구를 통해, 인터랙티브 타이포그래피에 대해 고찰해 보면서, 함수의 개념을 빌려 인터랙티브 시스템을 이해하고자 했다. 작품 구현 단계에서는 플래시 액션스크립 (Flash action script)을 이용해 인터랙티브 타이포그래피 작품 ‘인터랙티브 프로럴 타입(Interactive Floral Type)’을 디자인하고 구현했고, 사용자의 마우스와 키보드의 인풋에 따라 타입의 크기, 색상, 레이아웃, 모션이 변화함으로써, 타이포그래피의 기본 조형 요소인 ‘개별 글자’가 ‘꽃’의 모양으로 실시간 변화하는 실험적 타이포그래피 작품을 구현했다.

XML 기반 멀티미디어 뉴스 관리 시스템

With recent progress of related multimedia computing technologies, it is necessay to retrieve diverse types of multimedia data based on multi-media content and their relationships. However, different from alphanumeric data, it is difficult to provide relevant multimedia information, be-cause multimedia contents and their relationships are implied in multimedia data. Therefore, in case of a multimedia news service system that is a representative multimedia application, most of new services provide relevant news about text articles and retrieval of multimedia news such as video news or image news are provided independently. In this paper, we present an XML-based multimedia news management system, which provides integrating, retrieval, and delivery of relevant multimedia news. Our data model composed of media object, relationship object, and view object represents diverse types of multimedia news content and semantically related multimedia news. In addition, a proposed view mechanism makes it possible to customize multimedia news, and therefore provides multimedia news efficiently. 최근 인터넷과 멀티미디어 관련 기술의 발달로, 멀티미디어 정보에 대한 사용자들의 요구가 다양해지고 있으며, 특히 한 종류의 멀티미디어 뿐만이 아니라, 다른 종류의 멀티미디어 컨텐츠와 의미 관계를 기반으로 관련 멀티미디어 정보를 검색할 필요성이 대두하고 있다. 그러나 일반 데이터와는 달리 멀티미디어 컨텐츠와 의미 관계는 암시적으로 데이터 내에 내포되어 있기 때문에, 관련 멀티미디어 정보를 제공하는 것이 어렵다. 따라서, 대표적인 응용 프로그램인 멀티미디어 뉴스 관리 시스템의 경우, 대부분의 뉴스 서비스들이 텍스트 기사에 대한 관련 기사를 제공하고 있으며, 비디오 혹은 이미지와 같은 멀티미디어 뉴스에 대한 검색은 독립적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 XML을 기반으로 관련 멀티미디어 뉴스를 통합, 검색 및 전송할 수 있는 멀티미디어 뉴스 관리 시스템을 개발하였다. 미디어 객체, 관계 객체, 뷰 객체로 구성된 데이터 모델을 제안하여 다양한 종류의 멀티미디어 뉴스 컨텐츠를 표현하고 의미 관계를 포착하였으며, 뷰 메커니즘을 개발하여, 생성된 뷰 객체의 가공을 통하여 사용자에게 멀티미디어 뉴스를 효율적으로 제공하도록 하였다
