The present study was conducted to investigate the public awareness level of the Korean population on the hazardsof radon. Its purpose was to serve as a preliminary study for the development of a risk communication programsuited to Korean domestic conditions. An in-house developed questionnaire was used as an awareness surveyingtool. Five thousand people (adults) from the general population, randomly selected regardless of their age, academicbackground, income level, and regional distribution were surveyed. The survey was conducted between December2015 and February 2016, and completed in a self-reporting format. The survey results showed that publicawareness of the radon risk was very low, as indicated by more than roughly 85% of the respondents saying thatthey did not know what radon was. Moreover, survey results for those who knew what radon was showed a verylow level of awareness regarding the physical properties and hazards of radon. Through the findings of the presentstudy, it was confirmed that the awareness of radon hazards among the residents of Korea needs urgentimprovement and that the development of a radon risk communication program accounting for age, income, region,occupation, and various information delivery routes is also needed.
KSLV-2를 이용한 금성 내 핵 폐기물 처리 개념 설계

원자력 발전을 통해 생성되는 사용후핵연료 중에서, 일부 방사성 물질은 지구 내 처분을 고려할 시 여러 제한사항에 직면한다. 대안으로써 우주 내 처분 개념이 제시되어 왔으며, 본 연구에서는 KSLV-2 발사체를 이용한 금성 내 핵 폐기물 처리 개념 설계를 진행하였다. 300-2000 km 타원형 주차궤도에서 금성 전이 궤도 투입을 위한 임무속도는 약 3.138 km/s이다. 전술한 임무속도와 고체 킥모터의 제원을 고려, KSLV-2에 추가할 4단을 설계하고 3자유도 궤적계산을 수행하였다. 상기 주차궤도로 투입된 4단은 킥모터 연소 후 금성 전이궤도로 투입되었으며, 약 120일 후에 금성에 도달하였다. 운반된 핵 폐기물은 방사능 차폐막을 포함하여 약 490 kg이다. 처리 용량 증대를 위해 후속적인 대형 발사체 개발과 안전성 검토, 제작 비용 절감 등이 요구된다. Disposal of some radioactive materials out of spent nuclear fuel, which is produced from nuclear power generation, has many limitations on the Earth. Space disposal has been proposed as an alternative. In this study, conceptual design for the space disposal in the Venus was performed using KSLV-2. Mission velocity for trans-Venus injection from the 300-2000 km parking orbit is about 3.138 km/s. Considering the mission velocity and characteristics of the applicable kick motor, the 4th stage above the KSLV-2 was designed and 3 degree of freedom trajectory calculation was performed. 490 kg of nuclear wastes package including radiation shielding material reaches Venus in about 120 days. A large-sized space launch vehicle, safety review and manufacturing cost reduction are required for disposing of many nuclear wastes.
온천탕 실내공기 중 라돈농도 분포 특성 파악을 위한 예비조사 연구

This study was performed as the preliminary research to calculate the concentration of radon exposure and the annual effective dose in public hot spring bath-house. The research found that public bathhouses are the primary cause of the indoor air radon concentration inside a hot spring bathhouse. The indoor radon concentration inside a bathhouse differs significantly by region and among bathhouses in the same region, indicating that the indoor air radon concentration is affected by many factors. The annual effective indoor radon dose by exposure is estimated to range from 1.2×10−2mSv/y to 2.5×10−2mSv/y. Since this research is considered as preliminary research, further and additional relevant research to more reliably calculate the result are necessary, including accumulative research for indoor radon concentrations, and research for exposure coefficients such as the behavior patterns of public bathhouse users, etc.
신개념 스위칭 소자를 위한 모트-절연체 금속 전이 기술

For developing a switching device of a new concept that cannot be implemented with a semiconductor device, we introduce the Mott insulator-metal transition (IMT) phenomenon occurring out of the semiconductor regime, such as the temperature-driven IMT, the electric-field or voltage-driven IMT, the negative differential resistance (NDR)-IMT switching generated at constant current, and the NDR-based IMT-oscillation. Moreover, the possibilities of new concept IMT switching devices are briefly explained.
치아 상실과 심한 마모를 보이는 골다공증 환자에서의 완전구강회복 증례

Teeth wear with loss of posterior support often leads to symptoms such as irregular occlusal plane and excessive wear of anterior teeth. In such environment, establishing proper posterior support and harmonious anterior guidance and occlusal plane is recommended. In this case, the patient had excessively worn dentition with loss of posterior support, while denying surgical treatment due to her(his) history of osteoporosis, ibandronate injection, and risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). To recover the vertical space needed for prosthetic restoration, full mouth rehabilitation with vertical dimension increase of remaining teeth was decided. Missing teeth in the posterior area were restored with mandibular removable partial denture. The treatment plan was determined through careful diagnosis, and every step of procedures including tooth preparation, provisional phase with the increased vertical dimension, and definitive prosthetic phase were carried out accordingly. Once the treatment was completed, the patient was satisfied functionally and esthetically. Periodic examination of oral hygiene, occlusal stability was conducted. 구치부 치아 상실을 동반한 치아 마모는 불규칙한 교합평면, 과도한 전치부 마모와 같은 특징적인 양상을 보인다. 적절한 구치부 지지를 부여하고 조화로운 전방유도와 교합평면을 설정하는 치료 방법이 추천된다. 본 증례 보고의 환자는 치아의 병적인 마모가 관찰되고 하악 구치부 치아가 상실되었다. 또한, 골다공증 병력과 Ibandronate 주사 치료와 관련된 골괴사증의 위험성을 인지하고 수술적 치료를 거부하였다. 본 증례에서는 마모된 잔존치를 수복 공간 확보를 위해 수직 고경 거상을 동반한 완전구강회복술로 수복하고, 하악 무치악부는 양측성 후방연장 국소의치로 수복하였다. 면밀한 진단을 통해 수복 계획을 수립하고, 이를 바탕으로 지대치 형성 후 임시 보철물 상태로 적응 기간을 거쳐 최종 보철물 제작하였다. 심미적, 기능적으로 만족할 만한 결과를 얻을 수 있었고, 구강 위생관리 및 교합 안정성을 확인하기 위해 정기적으로 내원하도록 하였다.
