Postherpetic neuralgia(PHN) can be extremely debilitating condition. Treatment protocols for PHX may vary from center to center, such as conservative and intensive supportive therapeutic regimens, for example, oral medication, cutaneous nerve stimulating therapy, even acupuncture and hypnotherapy have been stressec. In spite of all these measures, some 15% of PHN suffers gain little or no ra lief. Anecdotal reports have suggested that low level laser therapy(LLLT) is effective in the relief of various types of neuralgia. Rased on these, we were interested to apply LLLT for crucial condition of PHN. This is a prelirninary clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of LLLT in the treatment of the pain for well established and unrelieved PHN. In order to get more accurate result, subjective and objective criteria. were applied. The cases who showed the effectiveness in criteria of Excellent were 6/20(30 %) the cases who showed the effectiveness in criteria of Good were 3/20(15%), and the cases who showed the effectiveness in criteria of Fair were 3/20(15%). So the total cases who showed onset of the effectiveness of LLLT were 12 out of 20 cases(60%).
전립선암에서 조직 내 Tubulin α와 βII 발현의 임상적 의의
김태흥,김태형,이신영,김영선,김미경,명순철 대한비뇨의학회 2008 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.49 No.8
Purpose: This study examined the significance of tubulin α and βⅡexpression in benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) and prostate cancer. Materials and Methods: A total 103 cases diagnosed with either BPH or prostate cancer were divided into 4 groups: BPH(n=25), localized prostate cancer(n=41), locally advanced prostate cancer(n=18), metastatic prostate cancer(n=18). The tissues were taken through a transurethral resection of the prostate, suprapubic prostatectomy, prostatic needle biopsy or radical retropubic prostatectomy. The expression was measured by immunohistochemical staining. The degree of expression was graded on a 4-point scale. The data was compared in terms of stage, the serum prostatic specific antigen(PSA) level and Gleason score. The statistical comparisons were made using one-way ANOVA test and a Fisher's exact test. Results: The levels of tubulin α and βII expression were stronger in the patients with prostate cancer than those with BPH(p<0.001). On the other hand, there was no difference between metastatic prostate cancer and localized prostate cancer(p>0.05). The level of tubulin α expression was stronger in the patients with a Gleason score ≥8 than in those of Gleason score ≤7(p<0.05), but there was no such difference in tubulin βII expression. The level of tubulin α and βII expression was stronger in the patients with a serum PSA level ≥4ng/ml than in those with the serum PSA level <4ng/ml(p<0.001). Conclusions: The expression of tubulin α and βII may be associated with the development of prostate cancer. These might be used as useful markers for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response. Pyoderma Gangranosum of the Penis
김태흥,명순철,오승영 대한의학회 2009 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.24 No.6
We report a patient who developed pyoderma gangrenosum in the penis with invasion of the distal urethra. The patient was treated with prednisolone and thalidomide, followed by a reconstructive surgical repair using a scrotal island flap. We report this case with a brief review of the literature.
