A rare case of multiple supratentorial and infratentorial hemangioblastomas in a 50-year old man is presented. There were neither manifestations of visceral tumors nor familial history. The two tumors were totally removed in two sessions and the diagnosis in both tumors were hemangioblastomas.

아산호 습지에서 관속식물의 군집 구조와 생산성 및 영양염류의 흡수

The flora, distribution area, vegetation structure, annual net primary production, and nutrient uptake of the vascular hydrophytes, hygrophytes and mesophytes were investigated in the wetlands of the Asan-Lake, Chungchongnam-do and Kyonggi-do, Korea from March to October in 1997 to reveal the correlation between the plant community and the lake environment. The flora was composed of 38 families, 89 genera, 106 species, 14 varieties or total 120 kinds of the vascular plants. The life from of the hydrophytes were classified as 14 kinds of emergent plants, 5 kinds of submerged plants, and 4 kinds of free-floating plants, respectively. The number of species was various to 4 ∼85 kinds in each site. The dominant species was Zizania latifolia, and the importance values of Zizania latifolia, Typha orientalis, Phragmites communis, and Spirodela polyrhiza were 39.58, 14.90, 13.97, and 7.64, respectively. The distribution area of the emergent hydrophytes, hygrophytes, and mesophytes was 49.3 ㏊ (90.5%), and free-floating plants was 5.2 ㏊ (9.5%), whereas the floating-leaved and submersed plants were rare. Annual net production of the emergent hydrophytes, hygrophytes, and mesophytes was 547.9 ton D.W./yr (98%), and those of the free-floating plants was 10.5 ton D.W./yr (2%), and 558.4 ton D.W./yr in the whole lake ecosystem. The total uptake of nitrogen and phosphorus by the vascular plants was 7,099 and 1,891 ㎏/yr in the whole lake ecosystem. 아산호 연안대의 습지에서 식물군락과 호소 환경과의 상호 관계를 규명하기 위하여 1997년 3월부터 1997년 10월까지 수생식물, 습생식물 및 중생식물의 종조성, 분포 면적, 식생 구조, 현존량, 식물체에 의한 영양염류 흡수 등을 조사하였다. 관속식물은 38과 89속 106종 14변종으로 총 120종류가 분포하였는데, 그 중 수생식물은 정수식물 14종류, 침수식물 5종류, 부수식물 4종류 등 23종류가 출현하였고, 습생식물 및 중생식물은 97종류였다. 조사 지소별 분포 종수는 4∼85종류로 조사지소별로 차이가 많았다. 우점종은 줄(Zizania latifolia)이었으며, 부들(Typha orientalis), 갈대(Phragmites communis), 개구리밥(Spirodela polyrhiza) 등의 순으로 중요치가 낮아졌다. 정수식물, 습생식물 및 중생식물의 분포 면적은 49.3 ㏊(90.5%)이고 부수식물이 5.2 ㏊(9.5%)이며, 부엽식물 및 침수식물은 분포 면적이 매우 적었다. 생활형별 연순생산량은 정수식물, 습생식물 및 중생식물이 547.9 ton D.W./yr, 그리고 부수식물이 10.5 ton D.W./yr로서 이들의 비율은 98: 2이며, 호소 전체의 연순생산량은 558.4 ton D.W./yr에 달한다. 아산호 전체에서 관속식물에 의한 질소 및 인의 연간 흡수량은 각각 7,099kg 및1,891 kg이었다.

Sera from 95 infertile males males were assayed for antisperm antibodies using the Tray Agglutination Test(TAT) and indirect Immunobead Test(IBT). The correlation between antisperm antibodies and seminal analysis in infertile men was evaluated, and the TAT was compared with new indirect IBT. The results were obtained as follows. 1. Positive rate for antisperm antibodies was high in azoospermia, oligoasthenospermia, pyo-spermia, in order, Especially in obstructive azoospermia, the rate was the highest in both methods 2. Positive rates for antisperm antibodies in TAT was higher than indirect IBT. 3. Among the isotypes of the immunoglobulins, IgG were most prevalent. IgG and IgA were bound predominantly to the head and IgM predominantly to the tail up.

압축코팅법에 의한 3단계 약물방출형 지속성제제의 제조 및 용출특성

A novel oral controlled release tablet which may offer more uniform drug level in the body than simple zero-order was developed. The tablet is composed of three layers; outer film layer, middle part compression-coated hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) matrix layer, and inner core layer. Each layer contains nicardipine HCl as a model drug. In vitro dissolution test showed that the tablet released the drug in clear three steps; a rapid initial release, followed by a constant rate of release, and then a second phase of fast release of drug. The dissolution characteristics could be modified easily by changing the grade of HPMC, thickness of matrix layer, content of methylcellulose in matrix layer, content of active ingredient in each layer. The pH of dissolution medium did not affect the release profile. This three-step release system is expected to raise the blood concentration rapidly to effective level and to maintain effective blood level longer than simple slow-release systems.

Tuesdays with Morrie, which is composed of fourteen discussions between Mitch Albom, a sports reporter and Morrie Schartz, a retired professor dying of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), is a moving novel based on fact, and it helps a reader reconsider the significance of life and death. As a literary text, this book comprises diverse narratives such as everyday conversations, authorial narratives, news reports and broadcasting comments, diary entries and lectures, which are employed to weave dialogical narrative structures expressing the tensions between the past and the present, spirit and material, sense and reason, the interior and the exterior of human consciousness, and the languages and psyche of Morrie, Mitch and other characters. Such characteristics as a literary text also leads a reader to the ethics in the book, which can be compared with some aphorisms of the ancient Chinese ethical philosophy-"benevolence," "righteousness," "courtesy," and "virtue," for example. For, as we read the memoirs of an old professor, who has lived in the center of the world culture and history as an intellectual, being reminiscent of his life so far, considering others through the mirror of his own life, and trying to give lessons about the future state of the world and its culture, we can clearly realize that it cannot be confined to a mere personal memoir. In brief, in his aphorisms that he has uttered during the discussions with his former pupil, Mitch Albom for fourteen weeks, Morrie asserts that people in contemporary society should be able to control themselves among all the positive and negative elements in the present world, recover the mutual relationships between Self and Other based on understanding and true love, and then pursue a new world, in which both Self and Other can exist and prosper together. And his lesson is not different from the teachings of ancient Chinese philosophers, emphasizing the "self-sacrifice to preserve the virtue complete(殺身成仁)"

Review of interpretation criteria for CISG’s contract of sale

국제매매계약에 관한 유엔협약(CISG)은 국제매매법을 조화시키고 무역 및 국제상거래를 촉진하려는 목적을 가지고 있다. 그러나 국내 법원이 CISG의 명확하지 않은 규정을 해석하려는 경우 이를 광범위하게 해석하고 적절하지 않은 국내법규로 이를 채울려고 하는 자기편향적 해 석(homeward trend)이 발생하게 된다. CISG는 계약의 해석을 규율하는 명시적인 조항을 규정 하고 있지만 적용에 관한 해석기준을 제시하고 있지 않다. 이것으로 인해 두가지 경우를 살펴볼 수 있다. 먼저 법원이 계약에 대한 해석보다는 유효성에 대한 해석을 하려는 경우 CISG 대신 국내법규를 적용하게 된다는 점이다. 두 번째는 법원이 CISG의 모호한 계약해석기준을 원인으로 국제사법의 원칙에 따라 국내법을 선택하여 사용할 수 있다는 점이다. 국내법을 사용하여 CISG하의 계약을 해석하는 것은 국내법규로 CISG를 제한하게 되는 것이고 따라서 CISG의 의도와 목적을 훼손하게 된다. 여러 연구에서 살펴볼 수 있는 것처럼 CISG의 매매계약에 대한 해석 문제는 CISG의 명시적 조항 또는 CISG의 일반원칙에 따라 규율되어야 한다. 이는 CISG의 모호한 점에도 불구하고 법원은 CISG의 기초가 된 기본원칙을 적용해야 하고 이를 위해 공정한 합리적인 상업적 기준을 적용하여 매매계약을 해석하여야 한다는 것이다. 다만 CISG의 흠결을 보충하려는 유연성이 가지는 장점을 제한하기보다는 통일법이라는 목적을 위해 보다 강조되고 노력이 필요한 것이란 점을 살펴보았다. Purpose : In this paper, we analyze CISG’s explicit contractual interpretation clause and examine inherent ambiguity. Despite its ambiguity, the CISG s basic principles have been that the Court intends to interpret the contracts in order to promote fair and reasonable commercial standards in the contract of sale. Research design, data, methodology : This paper examines the ambiguity that may arise in the interpretation of contracts concluded under CISG and examines reasonable interpretation criteria to solve them. In addition, the provisions of the CISG have been reviewed logically, taking into account the claims of interpretation in various studies. Results : A reasonable interpretation criterion is a comprehensive reexamination of the CISG explicit provisions first, taking into account the general principles governing the CISG and, if ambiguous to the explicit provisions, be interpreted in accordance with the general principles of the CISG. Conclusions : I t was determined that the CISG’s fundamental principles intend the Court to interpret the contract in order to promote fair and reasonable commercial standards in the contract of sale.

『위대한 유산』, 동양철학으로 다시읽기 -신사와 군자의 개념을 중심으로

Great Expectations, Charles Dickens` thirteenth novel, is a record of a boy`s coming of age, during which he aspires to become a gentleman. The novel helps the reader reconsider human nature through a diverse and detailed description of the life of Pip as a hero of the novel. This paper aims to observe the snobbism that the young hero experiences in the course of his education to become a gentleman. Pip happens to receive the "great expectation", from an unknown patron, who is later known as Magwitch, an expelled culprit. This paper also intends to compare the concept of true gentlemanship implied in the work with that of the great man or a gentleman in the Eastern philosophy of Confucianism. The gentlemanship pursued by Pip is an ideal of the lower class in his days, but it is one of the results of the mammonism of the Victorian England. This work describes in detail diverse people`s aspiration for the gentlemanship, which was one of the greatest prides of the time, and then it bitterly criticizes and satirizes its negative aspects. Nevertheless, with his own expectation and hope for the possibility of social changes through the awareness and change of each individual person, Dickens presents his own ideal of a gentleman through the process of self-awareness happening in Pip. Pip grows up in body and in spirit after learning lessons from all kinds of experiences in the course of his life. The faith in the goodness of human nature culminates in Joe, who is entitled "a gentle Christian man," having never discarded his conscience and consideration for others in any situation, and in a sincere girl named Biddy, who is provided with a new happy life, having kept her love and kindness, and finally in the young selfish Pip, who is transformed into ``a gentleman in a real sense`` after the great lessons in life. The concept of a gentleman in the west and that of a great man in the east have similar origin in their intention and meaning. For the two concepts, which both designate one`s attitudes towards self, others and the society, and share the value of honor and responsibility, can be achieved in the course of diverse and sometimes hard lessons, experiences and self-discipline even in adverse situations. When the novel with such a plot and contents is re-read in the light of some major concepts of Eastern philosophy, whose intention is to bring up ``a great man(君子)`` in a premise that ``all men were born good,`` it can be understood that the ideals of a western writer and some eastern philosophers, although their worlds apart, are not so different in context.
