        '탈중심의 문화'를 위한 연극적 모색

        "Drama is culture" is an ambiguous assertion that is frequently mentioned, yet rarely clearly explained. This study aims to prove that drama is indeed culture by first examining both traditional and newly-extended definitions of culture and secondly, by analyzing dramatic contents and forms of three selected dramas, thereby establishing the concrete connection between the literary genre of the drama and the formation of culture. Despite the fact that, according to Raymond Williams, culture is "one of the two or three most complicated words in the English language," the attempt to define culture has been ceaseless. Among the various definitions of culture, C. A. van Peursen's is notable in its unique approach. He considers culture not as static, but as dynamic; he views it as an act of doing and becoming, rather than as a collection of art pieces. To Peursen, culture is not the result of human activity, but an activity in itself. Considering that drama, by definition, implies action and doing, the similarity and correlation between the two concepts becomes apparent. The critical and constructive energy of our times has been typically focused on the transformation from the centralized perspective that views the world as a hierarchy of dichotomies, with reason and civilization at the center, to the decentralized one that attempts to do away with boundaries established by such reason and civilization. Churchill's <Top Girls>, Hwang's <M. Butterfly>, and Shepard's <True West> prove to be positive examples of the effort to make a change to the decentralized from the centralized, world with its stubbom dichotomy of man/woman, west/east, civilization/nature, and so forth. These works indeed demonstrate how drama becomes a dynamic act of doing, i.e. culture by presenting the limitations of this centralized world and urging a movement toward a decentralized world.

        화상 정도 및 CAPS 점수에 따른 타액 코티졸의 변화 양상 비교

        Objective : Cortisol, a product of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis), is one of our defensive mechanisms in response to stress. The level of cortisol in the saliva is a major biomarker of the stress response by HPA axis and shows diurnal variation. We measured salivary cortisol level and its diurnal variation to compare the pattern of changes by degree of burn and Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) score. Methods : We measured the salivary cortisol levels of 37 subjects hospitalized in the burn center at our facility from March to June 2012. Salivary cortisol levels were measured at 6 : 00 AM and at 7 : 00 PM. All subjects were tested for CAPS to evaluate the severity of posttraumatic stress disorder and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale to evaluate and to control the coexisting depression. Results : Factorial ANOVA test revealed that there was a statistically significant difference in terms of the effect of the interaction between the degree of burn and the patient's CAPS score. Unlike the mild burn group, in the severe burn group, the patients who had a low CAPS score didn't show a normal diurnal variation and the patients who had a high CAPS score showed the normal diurnal variation. After a few months follow up, we found a greater degree of psychiatric complications in severe burn patients that had a lower cortisol stress response. Conclusion : We suppose that the disappearance of the stress response changes in salivary cortisol seen in the severe burn group may be caused by an impaired stress response. Through followed observation of the subjects, this disruption of cortisol response may cause psychiatric problems afterwards.

        퇴직소득보장 강화를 위한 IRP 세제 개선 방안

        [Purpose]The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of the current taxation system applied to the individual retirement pension (IRP) and to suggest alternatives to the phenomenon that the absolute majority choose lump sum despite tax benefits for annuitization of retirement income. [Methodology]In order to measure and compare the degree of incentives for retirement income to be converted into annuities by income level, we conducted the money’s worth analysis under EET and TEE taxation system. [Findings]The comparative analysis by income level finds that the high income group have a large incentive for annuitization under the current taxation(EET) and the introduction of TEE taxation system would improve total annuity payments and tax burdens for most income groups except some higher income groups. [Implications]In view of the fact that old-age income security must cover all classes, regardless of income level, it is desirable to provide a combination of the current IRP (EET system) and the new IRP Ⅱ. (TEE system) to allow taxpayers options, rather than consolidating the existing EET system into a TEE system. [연구목적]본 연구에서는 퇴직소득의 연금화를 위한 여러 세제 혜택에도 불구하고 연금화율이 현재까지 0%에 가까운 현상에 대해 현행 세제에서 연금화를 저해하는 문제점을 찾고 대안을 제시하고자 한다. [연구방법]본 연구는 현행 연금세제(EET)에서 소득수준에 따른 퇴직소득의 연금화 유인정도를 측정하기 위해 개인형퇴직연금제도(IRP) 퇴직계좌에서 수령하는 연금수익비를 소득수준별로 비교․분석하였다. 또한 대안으로서 다른 과세체계인 TEE체계를 가정하여 연금수익비를 산출하여 소득수준별로 현행 세제의 수익비와 비교․분석하였다. [연구결과]분석결과, 현행 연금세제는 사실상 고소득층에게 연금에 대한 인센티브를 더 많이 제공하도록 설계되어 있다는 점을 발견하였고 현행 EET 연금세제를 TEE 체계로 전환하면 일부 고소득층을 제외한 모든 계층에서 세후 수령액 및 세부담이 개선되었다. [연구의 시사점]연금을 통한 노후소득보장은 소득과 관계없이 전(全) 계층을 포괄해야 한다는 점에서 기존의 EET를 TEE로 통합 운영하기보다 현행 IRP(EET 체계)와 새로운 IRPⅡ(TEE 체계)를 함께 제공하여 가입자의 선택권을 보장하는 것이 바람직한 방향이라 할 수 있다.

        Comic Guarantees in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night

        This study attempts to speculate the dramatic construction of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night which arranges diverse comic devices in pursuit of maintaining the gay mood of the play. These comic devices will be referred to as “comic guarantees.” The effective operation of comic guarantees—the fantasy world of Illyria, “unmasking” of the characters’ inner world through language, and the revelations of events to create “gaps of awareness”—is essential for ensuring the overall gaiety. This study renders the overview on comic guarantees, demonstrates the specific types and functions of comic guarantees, and then compares Twelfth Night with All’s Well That Ends Well, Shakespeare’s “dark” comedy. The comparative analysis of the two plays is to accentuate the effects of comic guarantees that the gay play, Twelfth Night, employs. (The Catholic University of Korea)
