        Efficient Utilization of Korean Medical Fungal Pathogen Resource Bank for Clinical Research

        A "pathogen resource" contains information about pathogens (e.g., bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa) and microbial derivatives (e.g., DNA, RNA, plasmid, clone, and cDNA). Pathogen resources are important for their potential use in healthcare research because they contain clinical and epidemiological information that is different from microbial resources. In October 2014, the "Nagoya Protocol" on access and benefit-sharing with the Convention on Biological Diversity was enacted to restrict the movement of transboundary pathogens and protect the natural pathogen resources of each country. On July 2017, the Korean Medical Fungal Pathogen Resource Bank (KMFRB) was established to secure, discover, and develop biological resources focused on medical fungi. KMFRB has since been operating under the National Culture Collection for Pathogens of the National Institute of Health based on the Act No. 13992. This report aims to provide general information regarding KMFRB and suggest efficient ways to utilize human fungal pathogen resources for clinical research.

        취업여부와 교육수준이 노인의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향:자아존중감의 매개효과 검증

        This research investigates to analyze mediating effects of self-esteem on employment status as well as education level have effect on life satisfaction of the elderly. This study used 11th panel data of KoWePS(Korean Welfare Panel Study) and employed Path analysis with A-MOS. The results of this study are as followed:First, employment condition as well as education level are found to have direct effect on self-esteem and life satisfaction. Second, We found not full but partial mediating effect of self-esteem between employment condition and life satisfaction as well as between education level and life satisfaction. Therefore we can suggest that self-esteem improvement for elderly including music as well as art therapy are urgently needed in order that the life satisfaction of retired elderly as well as low educated elderly may not be declined. 본 연구는 한국복지패널 11차년도(2016) 자료를 사용하여 취업여부와 교육수준이 노인의삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 분석결과에의하면, 취업여부는 노인의 자아존중감과 삶의 만족도에 각각 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 교육수준 또한 노인의 자아존중감과 삶의 만족도에 각각 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고, 취업여부와 교육수준이 노인의 삶의 만족도에 영향을미치는 데 있어서 자아존중감의 부분 매개효과가 검증되었다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여, 학력이 낮은 노인 가구를 대상으로 자아존중감을 향상시키는데 도움이 되는 다양한 프로그램을적극적으로 실시할 필요가 있으며, 그리고 은퇴한 노인의 삶의 만족도가 저하되는 것을 예방하기 위해서 자아존중감의 강화에 효과가 있는 다양한 교육과 프로그램 개발이 요구된다. 본 연구는 노인 가구의 삶의 만족도를 높이는데 있어서 교육수준과 취업여부 그리고 자아존중감의 긍정적인 측면을 조명하였으며, 더 나아가 노인 교육 관련 연구에 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다는 데에 의의를 가진다.

        정보센터 자동화시스템의 통합화에 관한 연구

        이용자 서비스 강화와 효율적인 정보관리를 위해 각 정보센터들이 구축하고 있는 정보센터 자동화시스템의 개발이 최근 멀티미디어와 네트워크 기술의 발달과 더불어 통합화 경향을 보이고 있다. 즉 과거 소장정보만을 제공하던 것에서 CD-ROM 등 소장 외부 데이터베이스외에도 인터넷과 PC통신망과 같은 외부 온라인 데이터베이스도 하나의 시스템에 통합하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내외 사례연구를 통해 통합화 경향을 확인하고 통합할 정보와 비용의 측면에서 그 통합방안을 제시하였다. 또한 포스코의 그룹차원 정보관리시스템인 MIPOS 정보자료시스템을 국내의 대표적인 통합화 사례로서 제시하였다. As advanced information technology has been developing rapidly, libraries are moving from an ownership-centered information service toward information access service. Consequently, integrated automation systems of information centers that give not only cataloging information of their own collections but also various electronic information have appeared. In this study, a model of integrated automation system of an information center is suggested in terms of information types and cost, by taking case studies of some domestic and foreign libraries. Furthermore, the MIPOS Information & Resource Center System of POSCO Group is introduced as a good example of integrated automation systems in Korea.

        학교 인권교육의 문제점과 개선 방향에 대한 질적 탐색

        This study aims for analyzing the current human right education (HRE) in Korean elementary and secondary schools. For this purpose, thirteen professionals in HRE such as teachers, scholars, policymakers and activists are invited for the focus group interviewing and the collected data were analyzed by the constant comparison method. The findings shows three large categories such as the current situation of HRE, issues and problems in the field, and the perceived future directions and sub-categories were emerged under each category, which contain the diverse, but collective voices of the professionals from the field of HRE. First, the participants pointed the various understandings and misunderstandings on human rights as well as HRE and their awkward positioning in schools. Second, HRE is mainly understood as how to exercise one’s rights while respecting others’ rights are being shadowed and teachers are put in a difficult position in this current trend of HRE. Third, they thought that HRE should aim for a learning occasion in which both students and teachers to grow and the communities and the society are actively involved in this learning process. Thus this study has suggested a serious reform of HRE in schools. 본 연구는 학교 교육 현장에서 체감하는 인권교육에 대한 목소리를 통해 오늘날 한국에서 학교 인권교육이 처한 문제 상황을 분석하고 개선 방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 학교 현장의 교사, 인권 관련 학계의 전문가, 정부 기관의 행정가 및 실천가 13명을 대상으로 초점 집단 면접 방법을 활용한 질적 데이터를 분석하여 인권교육의 실체와 현재를 진단하고자 하였다. 인권교육에 대한 다양한 이해관계자들의 목소리와 인식을 분석한 결과, 본 연구에서는 학교 인권교육을 바라보는 시선, 학교 인권교육의 문제점, 학교 인권교육의 개선 방향이라는 세 개의 범주에서 특성과 쟁점이 도출되었다. 학교 현장에 부담을 안겨주고 있는 또 다른 형태의 교육으로서 형식주의가 강한 ‘반쪽짜리 교육’으로 인권교육이 작동하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 이로 인한 교사의 가중되는 어려움으로 요약되는 인권교육의 문제가 드러났다. 이제‘생각하고 경험하는 교육’으로의 인권교육 내용의 전환이 필요하다는 제안과 함께, 이를 위한 교사의 교육역량 강화 및 학교내외의 인권 친화적 체제 구축 등이 개선방향으로 제시되었다.

        장애인 근로자의 직장 내 차별수준이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 조절효과 검증

        This study investigated discrimination level in the workplace on the job satisfaction of worker with disability and analyzed whether the effect is moderated by self-esteem. For the research we used 2,270 worker with disability from the 1st year data of second wave 2016 Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED). We executed hierarchical regression analysis in order to verify of the moderating effect self-esteem between discrimination level and job satisfaction. Research findings of this study are as follows. First, discrimination level in the workplace are found to have direct effect on job satisfaction. Second, we found the moderating effect of self-esteem between discrimination level and job satisfaction. I can suggest that differentiated programs on level of self-esteem are needed lest worker with disability should decline job satisfaction. 본 연구의 목적은 장애인 근로자들이 직장 내에서 경험하는 차별수준이 직무만족도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고, 차별수준과 직무만족도 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 2016년 장애인 고용패널조사의 2차 웨이브 1차 조사를 사용하였으며, 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하여 조절효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애인 근로자들이 경험하는 직장 내 차별수준이 직무만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 장애인 근로자들이 경험하는 직장 내 차별수준이 직무만족도에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 자아존중감의 조절효과가 검증되었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 직장 내에서 차별을 경험한 장애인 근로자들을 대상으로 이들의 자아존중감 수준에 따른 차별화된 프로그램과 교육 등이 요구된다.

        초등학교 창작무용수업이 자기주도적 학습태도에 미치는 영향

        This study is intended to investigate the effects of dance lesson at elementary schools upon students' self-directed learning behavior by gender before and after the class with a focus on the creative dance specified in the「Curriculum for Dance Lesson at Elementary School」(The Korea Dance Education Society, 2005), with reference to the study on dance lesson at elementary schools by Ji, Won Je, art lecturer at the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. For this aim, pre- and post-tests were carried out at the dance classes given for 17 weeks from September 1 to December 23, 2009(once a week for 40 minutes each) to 158 students(82 males and 76 females) at B School in Jeollabuk Province to which the writer was assigned. SPSS Win Package 16.0 statistical program was used to analyze the questionnaires asked to fill in before and after the dance class in an effort to determine any changes in self-directed learning behavior of elementary school students. The results of the analysis by gender and before and after the self-directed dance class of elementary school students could be summed up as follows: First, the dance class for elementary school students turned out to exercise positive impact on their self-directed learning behaviors(openness, self-concept, modelling behavior, responsibility, zeal for learning, future-orientation, self-understanding, creativeness and self-evaluation) before and after the dance class. Second, there was no statistically significant difference in the self-directed learning behaviors(openness, self-concept, modelling behavior, responsibility, zeal for learning future-orientation, self-understanding, creativeness and self-evaluation) of the students at the dance class by gender. From the findings of the study, it became evident that continuing class for creative dance might be effective to improve self-directed learning behaviors(openness, self-concept, modelling behavior, responsibility, zeal for learning, future-orientation, self-understanding, creativeness and self-evaluation) of elementary school students, regardless of gender. The creative dance class is therefore expected to help students to promote their ability to solve problems and express their ideas with their bodies, cultivating thus their self-confidence to make them live a more active life.

        Conventional papillary thyroid carcinoma: effects of cystic changes visible on ultrasonography on disease prognosis

        Purpose: To investigate the characteristics of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) with cystic changesvisible on ultrasonography (US). Methods: This study included 553 PTCs in 553 patients between January 2003 and August2004. One radiologist with 10 years of experience in thyroid imaging retrospectively reviewed thepreoperative US images. Two different groups were formed according to two different reference points(group 1, 25%; group 2, 50%) of the cystic component. Patients between the groups were comparedaccording to their clinicopathologic characteristics. Disease-free survival (DFS) was estimated. Cox’smultivariate proportional hazards regression model was used to identify the effect of variable factorson the recurrence risk. Results: Fifty-six patients (10.1%) were confirmed to have tumor recurrence within the follow-upperiod. Thirty-five patients had regional metastasis, one had distant metastasis, eight had multiplesite metastases, and 12 had biochemical recurrence. PTC patients with a ≤ 50% or PTC patients witha ≤ 25% cystic component did not have a statistically significant longer DFS than those with a >50%(hazard ratio [HR], 1.118; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.255 to 4.910; P=0.883) or those witha >25% cystic component (HR, 0.569; 95% CI, 0.164 to 1.976; P=0.375), respectively. Moreover,independent predictors of recurrence were pathologic size, male gender, and lymph node metastasis,not a >50% or >25% cystic component. Conclusion: The proportion of the cystic component in PTCs did not affect DFS.

        Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma Presenting as a Predominantly Cystic Mass on Ultrasonography: A Case Report

        Most medullary thyroid carcinomas show suspicious malignant features such as hypoechogenicity, a spiculated margin and/or intranodular calcifications, which are well known features of papillary carcinoma. We report here on a case of medullary carcinoma that was seen as a predominantly cystic thyroid mass on ultrasonography. This type of case is not common in the literature and we discuss the way to diagnose a medullary thyroid carcinoma.
