        Arsenic Toxicity in Male Reproduction and Development

        Arsenic is a toxic metalloid that exists ubiquitously in the environment, and affects global health problems due to its carcinogenicity. In most populations, the main source of arsenic exposure is the drinking water. In drinking water, chronic exposure to arsenic is associated with increased risks of various cancers including those of skin, lung, bladder, and liver, as well as numerous other non-cancer diseases including gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurologic and cognitive problems. Recent emerging evidences suggest that arsenic exposure affects the reproductive and developmental toxicity. Prenatal exposure to inorganic arsenic causes adverse pregnancy outcomes and children’s health problems. Some epidemiological studies have reported that arsenic exposure induces premature delivery, spontaneous abortion, and stillbirth. In animal studies, inorganic arsenic also causes fetal malformation, growth retardation, and fetal death. These toxic effects depend on dose, route and gestation periods of arsenic exposure. In males, inorganic arsenic causes reproductive dysfunctions including reductions of the testis weights, accessory sex organs weights, and epididymal sperm counts. In addition, inorganic arsenic exposure also induces alterations of spermatogenesis, reductions of testosterone and gonadotrophins, and disruptions of steroidogenesis. However, the reproductive and developmental problems following arsenic exposure are poorly understood, and the molecular mechanism of arsenic-induced reproductive toxicity remains unclear. Thus, we further investigated several possible mechanisms underlying arsenic-induced reproductive toxicity.

      • 이중충격파형 충격시험기의 구조 설계

        근대의 해상/수중 및 항공우주 무기체계는 다양한 외부충격에 노출되어 있으며, 이에 대한 충격 내구성 확보 및 생존성 평가를 위하여 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 고중량 충격시험기 개발을 위하여 선행연구의 일환으로 진행된 이중충격파형 충격시험기 개발 과정 중 적용된 구조 설계/해석 기술에 대하여 기술하고자 한다. 이중충격파형 충격시험기의 구조설계를 위하여 주프레임 및 시험기의 충돌 질량체의 고유모드 및 충돌 해석이 적용되었으며 이중충격파형 충격시험기 제작물을 이용한 충격시험을 수행한 결과와 충돌 해석 결과를 비교하여 해석 오차의 원인을 파악하고 그 정확도를 향상시키는 방안을 제시하도록 한다. 본 연구를 통하여 획득한 연구결과는 향후 개발예정인 고중량 충격시험기 개발의 구조설계에 보완 및 개선을 통하여 구조설계에 반영될 것이다. Nowadays, navy/underwater and aerospace weapon systems are exposed to various external shock environments and many researches have been conducted to evaluate the safety and the durability of weapon systems for the shock. In this paper, structural design of a dual pulse shock test machine is demonstrated. The shock machine is capable to simulate various shock environments on ground and its maximum payload is 1ton. The structural design of main frame and impact mass elements are mainly concerned with normal node and impact analysis. Especially, the impact analysis results between mass elements are compared with experimental test results in order to increase the analysis accuracy and to validate the analysis approach. The obtained research results are applied to high-weight shock test machine development after some methodological refinements.

        미래 복지체계의 방향성에 관한 연구

        한국을 포함하여 세계적으로 국가경제의 외부환경은 급속도로 빠르게 변화하고 있음에도 복지체계 및 복지정책 방향은 과거의 틀에서 크게 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 그 결과 복지 및 경제사회 관련 쟁점들은 정책의 목표를 둘러싼 이념적 충돌로 그치거나, 정합성이 결여되거나, 이해집단의 개입과 갈등이 지속되는 결과만을 초래하고 있다. 과거 우리나라의 복지는 성장을 통해 해결할 수 없는 부분을 보완하는 수준이었다. 높은 성장률로 고용창출이 지속적으로 이루어졌고 낮은 노령화 수준과 젊은 인구구조, 높은 출산율 등이 이를 뒷받침하는 구조였다. 그러나 현재의 새로운 국내외 경제사회 복지환경은 새로운 복지정책 변화를 요구하고 있다. 경제사회정책 목표는 안정적 경제사회시스템 구축과 복지확산형 사회투자형 복지국가를 지향하는 경제사회정책의 구성이 요구되고 있다. 또한 향후 한국 복지제도 강화의 방향은 보장성(protection) 강화와 역동성(activation) 강화 사이에 균형이 이루어져야 하며, 사후적 복지에서 예방적 복지로 전환이 되어야 할 필요성이 있다. 또한, 공공부문 민간시장 개인의 역할분담이 이루어져야 하며, 잔여적 복지에서 보편적 복지로의 패러다임의 전환이 이루어져야 할 필요성이 있으며, 이와 같은 복지제도의 개선을 통해 장기적으로 제도의 지속가능성을 높일 수 있을 것이다. The welfare system and the direction of the welfare policy have been unable to escape greatly from the frame of the past against the facts that the external environments of the national economy of the world including Korea have been changing in quick and rapid speed. Such results have caused the issues related with the welfare, economy and society ended in the ideological collision in connection with the goals of the policy, the right agreement between the policies lacked, and the intervention and conflict between the interest group concerning the policy continued. Social policy of Korea in the past had the level of complementing the parts which could not be solved through the growth. Employment creation had been achieved continuously backed up by the high rate of growth. And the low aging level, the young population structure, and the high rate of childbirth had been the structures that made such achievement possible. New economic, social and welfare environment at home and abroad has been requesting new change in welfare policy. Goal of the economic and social policy is to construct the safe economic and social system. And what has been requested has been the formation of the economic and social policy orienting the welfare nation in form of social investment and welfare expansion. Also the direction in strengthening the welfare system of Korea shall have the balance between the protection and activation strength with the necessity of converting to the prevention welfare from the post welfare. Also the public part, market, the 3rd sector and the share of the role of an individual shall be achieved. And what is needed is the achievement of the transfer from the paradigm of residual welfare to the universal welfare. And such improvements of the welfare system will be able to elevate the possible continuity of the system in long term basis through the improvement of the welfare system.

      • 건축물 고형시료 중 석면 분석을 위한 방해 물질 제거방법에 대한 연구

        In this study the following pretreatment methods are proposed using solid samples of buildings : furnace ashing methods according to the existing waste process, acid treatment after furnace ashing, acid treatment using graphite block acid circulation, a new method of attempting. This study propose a method for pretreatment of solid samples in buildings containing asbestos with a comparison of the asbestos analysis obstruction removal rates according to the above mentioned methods. The materials used in this study are 48 slates of 3 types and 48 textures of 3 types, total 96 samples which are solid samples in buildings. Pretreatment and acid treatment methods were classified in four ways: Electric high temperature furnace ashing methods according to the existing waste process and acid treatment with HCl(1+3)(Group A), Electric high temperature furnace ashing methods and acid treatment with aqua regia(HCl 3 : HNO3 1)(Group B), acid treatment with aqua regia(Group C) using graphite block acid circulation, a new method of attempting and acid treatment with inverse aqua regia(Group D). The removal rate of furnace ashing from slate samples in A and B treatment groups was 13.91%, and the removal rate of furnace ashing from texture samples in A and B treatment groups was 9.21%, so the removal rate of furnace ashing from slate samples was significantly higher than texture samples(p<0.001). The removal rate of asbestos analysis interfering substances from slate samples and texture samples in C treatment group with acid treatment with aqua regia using graphite block acid circulation were 30.50% and 30.58%, respectively. So in both slates and texture samples, the removal rate of asbestos analysis interfering substances from the slates and texture samples of A, B, and D treatment groups was significantly higher(p<0.001). The newly proposed acid treatment with aqua regia using graphite block acid circulation method in this study significantly eliminated more acid solubility material and asbestos analysis interfering substances than electric high temperature furnace ashing methods according to the existing waste process and acid treatment with HCl(1+3), and this method does not go through the process with high temperature furnace ashing, it is believed that asbestos analysis can be made easier by preventing changes in the characteristics of asbestos and the use of graphite block acid collection devices when acid treatment of solid samples in buildings containing large amounts of asbestos analysis interfering substances can be more effective than conventional methods.
