        I have discussed the origin and the several categorizations of role concept. Each theoretical context-structural and interactionist approach-in which role concept is contained, has been analyzed in relation to the self concept respectively. Several theoretical frameworks, including theory of Theodore R. Sarbin, Vernon L. Allen, Jonathan H. Turner, Ralph H. Turner, Daniel katz and Robert L. Kahn, have been considered for the purpose of integration of role theory. The first perspective in the structural-functional approach, which limits the individual to the social structure and focuses on the division of labor within that context. The second perspective is the symbolic interaction approach, which focuses on the interaction between people in the social system. Role theory is useful in understanding the professional nursing role and the problems generated by the social system in which the nurse practices. The impact of assuming multiple roles was explored, and common role stressors that contribute to role strain were identified. Applying these concepts of role theory to professional nursing roles, the expected behavior or role of the nurses are determined by the nurse's social position and the context in which nursing care is delivered. Reviewing perspectives of modern role theorists from the viewpoints of these two traditions, it can be said that role theory should be integrated so that the micro-variables of human behaviors could be connected with the macro-variables of social phenomena. As a result, without the harmonious integration of these theoretical standpoints, the further elaboration of role theory will not be possible.

      • 재활관련 정신질환자를 위한 보건소 중심의 정신사회재활 프로그램 개발 및 효과분석

        Comprehensive psychosocial rehabilitation program for mentally ill persons have resulted in reduced rates of relapse and rehospitalization. Unlike medication, however, they have not been widely adopted by the general systems of mental health care. This study developed the psychosocial rehabilitation program of severely mentally ill patient based upon the result of survey about the perception and needs for mental health of mentally ill persons and their families. The psychosocial rehabilitation program emphasized communication skills, daily living skills, and social relatedness. The program was made group therapy, social skill training, and group activity. This program was effective for improving daily living skills to severely mentally ill patients. Also the program has been validated as effective in improving symptomatic course and outcome of mentally ill persons.

      • 청소년 약물남용 예방대책 : 양호교사의 약물교육 효과 연구

        This study was designed to investigate the knowledge about, and attitude to drugs as found in School Nurses and Education on School Nurses and School Adolescents, and to develop drug abuse prevention strategies. The subject for this studg were 70 School Nurses (42 from Middle schools, 24 from High Schools)and 965 School adolescents(253 Male Middle School Students, 263 Male High School Students, 249 Female Middle School Students, 200 Female High School Students) The Drug Abuse education for the School Nurses was given by this research team during the period from september 22 to 23, 1993 (16 hours). The Drug Abuse education for the School Adolescents was given by the School Nurses for a total of 4 hours. Before and after each Education program, a questionnaire was completed by each subject to evaluate the effect of the Drug abuse Education. The Drug Abuse Prevention Teaching Material for both school Nurses and the School Adolescents was developed by this research team. The questionnaire which measured knowledge about and attitude to drugs was also developed by the research team. The data was analyzed using descriptive Statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation, with the SPSS program. The result of this study can be summarized as forllows: 1. There was a statistically signifcant difference in knowledge about and attitude to drugs, alcohol, and moking for the School Nurese after the drug abuse educalion program. 2. There was a statistically significant difference in knowledge about and attitude to drugs, alcohol, and Smoking for the School Adolescents after the drug abuse education program. 3. A relationship was found betweed drug use by the fathers of the School adolescent and the School adolescent's Knowledge about and attitude to drugs. As a result of this study, it can be concluded that drug abuse education for school Nurses is neccessary. Further this study showed that drug abuse education by School Nurses can deceease in School Adolescents an attitude which is accepting of drugs and increase Knowledge about drugs. Therefore, this Study suggests directions for adolescent drug abuse prevention stratedise and the Role of the School Nurses in adolescent drug abuse prevention.

        흡연 청소년을 위한 집단 금연프로그램의 적용 효과

        The major purpose of this study was to examine effects of the gruop smoking cessation program on the smoking cessation behavior, stress, depression, self-esteem, and assertive behavior. The study sample consisted of 25 high-school students, and they were exposed to the smoking cessation program. The major contents of the smoking cessation program included value perspectives auction game, group discussion and video on smoking hazards, positive reinforcement, learning and practicing stress reduction strategies, and assertive training etc., and they were given 9 sessions, twice a week. The instruments used for the study were Fagerstrom Tolerence Questionnaire(Fagerstrom, 1978), Lee's stress inventory, Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depressed Mood Scale (CES-D). Coopersmith's Self-esteem Inventory, and Rathus' assertive behavior scale. The data were collected from October 25 to November 22, 199, and were analysed by frequency, and paired t-test. The results were as follows. 1. The scores of nicotine dependency(t=1.825, p=.080), stress(t-.564, p=.578), and depression (t=.374, p=.712) were decreased over time, however they were not statistically significant. 2. The score of self-esteem(t=-.385, p=.704) and assertive behavior(t=-.107. p=.916) were increased over time, however they wee not statistically significant. Although the effects of group smoking cessation program on nicotine dependency, stress, depression, self-esteem and assertive behaviors was not statistically significant, most students reported that they exerted to change smoking behaviors over time, and made effort to stop smoking. These findings are very meaningful, because they showed no intention to stop smoking at the early stage of the program. Therefore t´ailoring interventions to participants' motivation level must be developed to reduce adolescents smoking behavior.
