김경동의 사회학(II): 선생가외 불역락호(先生可畏 不亦樂乎)

Kim Kyong-Dong is a world-famous Sociologist, establishing the foundation of academic sociology in the development of Korean sociology. This review extends the existing discussions on his sociology and appreciates his recent achievements in terms of his quest for building an East Asian theory of civilizational shift from Western modernity. In contrast to recent theories of multiple modernities, he continues to further develop modernization theory in broad terms of civilizational change from Western materialist culture to culturally matured advanced society. This review introduces and evaluates recent sociological studies provided by him in the following six chapters: (1) reconsideration of Kim’s acdemicism, (2) Kim’s humanist sociology in the era of post-humanism, (3) unfinished modernity and his theory of New Modernization, (4) foundation for East Asian theory of new civilization, and (5) succession of Kim’s theory of civilization. Kim Kyong-Dong’s quest for completing his theory of modernization in terms of new modernization has been fruitfully matured by his renewal of classic East Asian wisdoms such as the Book of Change, Buddhism, Taosim, and Confucianism and finally accomplished with his recent book, [Bright and Dark side of Seonbi Culture: Sociology of Intellectual Power Elite] as a model for new civilization based on Confucian moral values 김경동은 한국사회학사에서 아카데믹 사회학을 완성한 세계적 사회학자이다. 이 글은 김경동의 사회학에 관한 기존 논의를 보완하면서 그의최근 업적을 동아시아 문명론의 개척이라는 차원에서 그 의의를 논의한다. 이 과정에서 김경동의 주장을 뒷받침하기 위하여 필자의 관점인 하나논리를 틈틈이 활용한다. 제 1장 “김경동 아카데미즘의 재평가”는 아카데미즘을 상아탑에 안주하면서 현실 참여와 비판을 외면하는 학문이라고규정하는 통상적 고정관념을 비판한다. 김경동의 학문 활동에 나타난 비판적 현실 참여의 사례(1985년 “한국 발전과 종속문제” 국제학술대회와1989년 “80년대 한국사회와 비판적 인식의 전개‘라는 학술대회 조직)을 소개한다. 제 2장 “탈인간주의 시대의 인간주의 사회학”은 김경동의 사회학적 기축 이론인 인간주의 사회학이 오늘날 탈인간주의 시대에서 더욱 유용하다는 사실을 지적한다. 인간에 의한 인간의 비인간화, 인간중심주의에 의한 천지자연의 파괴, 인간의 폭력화와 같은 반인간적 세태를 인간주의 사회학은 교정할 수 있다. 제 3장 “미완의 근대화와 신근대화론”은 탈근대 문명의 도래와 함께 서구적 근대의 한계가 두드러지자 동아시아 정신문명을 활용하면서 미완의 근대를 완성시키고자 하는 김경동의 노력을부각시킨다. 제 4장 “동아시아 문명론 연구의 초석”은 김경동이 서구적근대나 근대화론에 머무르는 것이 아니라 본인 나름의 독창적인 “문화적교양으로 정화한 성숙한 선진사회”라는 개념과 함께 음양변증법에 기반한새로운 동아시아 문명론을 제시하고 있음을 검토한다. 김경동의 동아시아문명론을 위한 구체적 대안이라고 볼 수 있는 [선비문화의 빛과 그림자: 지식인 파워 엘리트의 사회학]을 북 콘서트에 참가한 여러 학자들의 토론내용을 소개하면서 집중적으로 고찰한다. 현대의 오도된 물질문명을 바로잡기 위해서는 선비문화의 재활성화가 매우 필요하다는 사실에 모두가 공감한다. 제 5장 “김경동 문명론 연구의 계승”에서는 김문조의 융합문명론, 김상준의 내장/팽창문명론 그리고 김성국의 하나논리가 앞으로 김경동의 문명론을 계승하고 발전시킬 수 있는 작업으로 평가한다.

The disease syndrome characterized by the acute vomiting and diarrhea with high mortality had been greatly epidemic in Kyungbuk West Area since March 1990 and it was followed serologically for the classification of the agent. The agent present in feces of dogs associated with this syndrome had characteristic feature in agglutinating pig red blood cells that was specifically inhibited by anti-CPV reference dog serum. This also showed the serological identity with the reference CPV antigen in Hemagglutinating inhibition test. The result obtained were summarized as follows : 1. During 5 years(March. 1990∼September. 1994), 1,470 dogs were investigated on the actual condition of CPV infections. The Infection rate of CPV from dogs was 62.5% and mortality rate was 59.8%. 2. Among 24 fecal samples collected from the dogs with enteric disease, all showed the hemagglutinating activity to porcine erythrocyte ranging from 40 to 5,120 of HA titers. 3. Among 12 sera samples collected from the dogs with enteric disease, all showed the serological identity with the reference CPV antigen from 5 to 5,120 of HI titers. 4. Bacteriologic examination of fecal specimens resulted in the isolation of pathogeric bacteria such as Staphylococcus sp, Streptococcus sp, Escherichia coli and Bacillus. Cultures for salmonella sp and Clostridium remaind negative. 5. The prevalence and identification of internal parasites were determined by fecal examination using the floatation methods. From 20 fecal samples 12(60.0%) were isolated and their species were Toxacara canis, Toxascaris leonina, and coccidium.

단옥수수로부터 찰옥수수로 변한 소비자들의 기호성과 홍수출하를 피하고 생산자의 소득을 높이기 위한 주년공급에 대응하기 위해서 조생종과 만생종 찰옥수수의 육묘와 이식재배에 관한 체계적인 연구가 필요한 현실이다. 본 연구는 2007년에 국립식량과학원 시험포장에서 찰옥수수의 조생종 품종 찰옥 1호와 만생종 품종 찰옥 4호를 재료로 하여 풋옥수수의 안정성 높은 이식재배법에 대한 일련의 실험을 수행한 것으로 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 육묘기간이 길어질수록 파종 후의 출사일수가 길어지는 반면, 이식후의 출사일수는 짧았는데, 출사일수는 찰옥 1호가 찰옥 4호에 비하여 9~12일, 그리고 2기작이 1기작에 비하여 12~15일 정도 짧았다. 2. 육묘 이식재배한 찰옥수수의 간장은 육묘일수가 길수록 감소하는 경향이었으며, 직파재배에서 간장은 2기작재배에서 1기작재배에 비하여 찰옥 1호는 17%, 그리고 찰옥 4호는 24% 감소하였다. 3. 이삭길이는 육묘일수가 길어질수록 다소 감소하였는데, 찰옥 1호는 1기작재배에 비하여 2기작재배에서 크게 감소하였다. 4. 상품 이삭수는 직파재배에서 2기작재배가 1기작재배에 비하여 찰옥 1호는 64% 감수하였고, 찰옥 4호는 12%로 감소하여 그 정도가 적었다. 5. 상품 이삭수로 보아 찰옥수수의 적정육묘일수는 찰옥1호는 1기작재배 15일 육묘, 2기작재배는 이식재배 보다 직파재배가 적당하고, 찰옥4호는 모든 작기에서 20일 육묘로 판단되었다. Comprehensive studies on seedling production and transplanting cultivation of waxy corn are necessary to fulfill the comsumer's preference for the high quality whole ear waxy corn and its year-round supply for higher price, and to escape marketing in a short period at harvest season. Two waxy corn hybrids (cv. Chalok# 1 and Chalok# 4) were used to study the effects of seeding date, nursery days and plug cell size on growth and yield of waxy corn, and to clarify the reliable transplanting date at the Experimental Field of the National Institute of Crop Science in 2007. The number of days from seeding to silking was increased as nursery days were extended, but the number of days from transplanting to silking was shortened comparing to the direct seeding. Number of days from seeding to silking was shorter by 9~12 days for Chalok# 1 than for Chalok# 4, while the number of days from seeding to silking was shorter by 12~15 days in the second cropping than in the first cropping. Culm length of transplanted waxy corns was decreased as the nursery days were extended. Culm length of seeded Chaok# 1 and Chaok# 4 were decreased by 17% and 24%, respectively, in the second cropping compared to those in the first cropping. Ear length was somewhat decreased as the nursery days were extended. Chalok# 1 in the second cropping the degree of decrease was much higher in second cropping than in first cropping of Chalok# 1. Comparing to the first cropping, number of marketable ears per 10a of Chalok# 1 decreased as high as 64%, while that of seeded Chalok# 4 decreased mere 12% in the second cropping.
The colchicine derivative CT20126 shows a novel microtubule-modulating activity with apoptosis

New colchicine analogs have been synthesized with the aim of developing stronger potential anticancer activities. Among the analogs, CT20126 has been previously reported to show immunosuppressive activities. Here, we report that CT20126 also shows potential anticancer effects via an unusual mechanism: the modulation of microtubule integrity and cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase before apoptosis. When we treated COS-7 cells with CT20126 (5 lM), the normal thread-like microtubules were disrupted into tubulin dimers within 10min and thereafter repolymerized into short, thick filaments. In contrast, cells treated with the same concentration of colchicine exhibited microtubule depolymerization after 20min and never underwent repolymerization. Furthermore, optical density (OD) analysis (350nm) with purified tubulin showed that CT20126 had a higher repolymerizing activity than that of Taxol, a potent microtubule-polymerizing agent. These results suggest that the effects of CT20126 on microtubule integrity differ from those of colchicine: the analog first destabilizes microtubules and then stabilizes the disrupted tubulins into short, thick polymers. Furthermore, CT20126 induced a greater level of apoptotic activity in Jurkat T cells than colchicine (assessed by G2/M arrest, caspase-3 activation and cell sorting). At 20nM, CT20126 induced 47% apoptosis among Jurkat T cells, whereas colchicine induced only 33% apoptosis. Our results suggest that the colchicine analog CT20126 can potently induce apoptosis by disrupting microtubule integrity in a manner that differs from that of colchicine or Taxol.

In the modern cultural industrialization society, symbolism is an important design factor which produces value in the industrial side. The aim of this article is to study symbolism-forming elements expressed in furniture designs from the industrial viewpoint and to propose ideas which will contribute to in the construction of desirable symbolism to cope with cultural industrialization era. The result shows that the innovative take over and the development of traditional culture consist not in copying the aesthetic formation or physical shape expressed in the traditional furnitures but in appreciating the traits of our original cultural identity and substantializing differentiated and peculiar formative-symbol from it.
