Kim Mun-Gi. 2006. A Metaphorical Extension of the Meaning of Duplicative Korean Auxiliary Verb. Korean Semantics, 20. This paper deals with characteristics of Duplicative Korean Auxiliary Verbs (DKAVs) by Methodology of Cognitive Semantics. Especially DKAVs are realized to be serial verb constructions which are duplicative forms in Korean. These verbs are ‘gada(go)’, ‘boda(see)’, ‘beorida(throw away)’, ‘nota(put)’, ‘ssata(pile up)’. In this paper, I investigate that these verbs’ extended semantic meanings represent metaphorical shift of the meaning from the main verbs’ meaning to the duplicative auxiliary verbs’ meaning. For this target, I suppose that conceptual space as a main verb’s meaning, and target space as a duplicative auxiliary verb’s meaning, as well as middle space as a metaphorically extended meaning. This paper is useful for arrangement of words’ meanings cognitively in Korean dictionary and the compilation of Korean dictionary for foreigners who study Korean.

김문기 한글학회 2009 한글 Vol.- No.284
This study aimed at analysis and interpretation of the ‘mankind’ vocabularies in Hunmongjahoe on the side of textbook which children had learned Chinese character written by Choi Se-jin in Choseon Dynasty period. So I investigate the vocabularies in Hunmongjahoe as a study book of Chinese character in this paper. And I expect the vocabularies were classified and ordered by some standards which is effective in language education. For this purpose, I reclassify the vocabularies of ‘mankind’ to make a word field. And I analyze this word field by cognitive method for understanding mutual relation of these vocabularies. In the course of this process, I consider cultural things too. So I am acquainted with which Hunmongjahoe is very well organized as a study book of vocabulary education and very valuable documentary material from the aspect of vocabulary education.

This article demonstrates an influence of Faminie Policy on Ming Qing Transition in terms of ``the Little Ice Age.`` In the seventeenth century, the time when Ming Qing Transition occurred, there was an ``ecological crisis,`` which came from climatic fluctuation. Famine Policy, a respond of the crisis, played a decisive role to determine the destiny of the dynasty. The collapse of Ming Dynasty was associated with the demise of Famine Policy System. The deterioration in economy and ``political laziness``(怠政) of emperor during the Wanli-Period brought down the dynasty. In Chongzhen-Period, it exploited its subjects while not only confronting to a natural calamity and famine, but also holding insurmountable problems in its economy. This resulted in the expansion of peasant uprising which led to the fall of Ming dynasty. On the other hand, Qing dynasty sat great store by Famine Policy, even it was on the unstable political position. Kangxi Emperor modified Famine Policy System, stabilized an ethnocracy through a large scale of tax reduction, and built a secure foundation of ``Pax Sinica(康乾盛世).``Intellectuals who vented their rage on severe exploitation during the ruling of Ming recognized Qing dynasty as the legitimacy of authority. To be specific, the reign of Kangxi was often compared to the era of ``politics of Wendi and Jingdi``(文景之治) or ``King of Rao and Xun(堯舜).`` The Ming dynasty went to the ground without overcoming ``ecological crisis`` in the Little Ice Age, however, the Qing considered the crisis as ``an opportunity.`` The dynasty could sustain political stability like Pax Sinica by overcoming the crisis through efficient and innovative Famine policy.
