The handling of the fallen leaves originated from the roads or the cities would be one of the major issue of urban environment management at autumn. The morphological and the chemical properties of the falen leaves, for example. the brittle structure and the higher contents of inorganic components make it very difficult to utilization as common biomass. In this study, the applicability of the fallen leaves as a soil conditioner was evaluated and the effects of various additives on the functional properties of the fallen leaves pellet were also evaluated. The pellet made with the fallen leaves showed the higher durability when the water soaking treatment was applied, than the pellet made with the wood powder, which would be useful for the soil conditioner. The durability of the pellet made with mixture of the fallen leaves and the wood powder could be increased by the addition of starch, rosin, calcium oxide and lignosulfonate. The addition of wood vinegar and calcium oxide could change the pH of the pellet from weak acid to weak alkaline, which might be a useful function for controlling soil condition.
