The solidification experiments were performed to determine a soil improvable possibility of solidified sewage sludge generated from Alec reaction. Also, the concentration of heavy metals and various organics were analysed. The concentration of heavy metals were as follows; Cd : 0.7~2.2 ppm, Cr : 35.6~92.3 ppm, Cu : 110.8~187.1 ppm and Pb : 49.6~61.4 ppm. As the results, the concentration of heavy metals and various organics in solidified sewage sludge were satisfied to compost and soil improvement standards.

In this study, three dimensional steady state problem is formulized by boundary element method (BEM). This formulization procedure is applied to heat transfer phenomenon on the wall and extended to dew-condensation phenomenon at the corner. This study demonstrates that this procedure is a powerful numerical method to personal computer. Conclusions drawn from this study are as follows: 1. The range of influence at the corner is approximately five times of wall width. 2. Dew-condensation is prevented by reducing thermal conductivity or resistance coefficient of heat transfer. 3. The pillar at the corner can prevent the temperature dropping and dew-condensation. 4. Heat insulation inside wall induces the heat bridge phenomenon through the pillar.

In this paper, freezing phenomena inside the pipes and parallel plates by natural convection and forced convection are investigated. Also the methods to prevent the freezing breakdown are suggested. The ice-band phenomenon can be found more easily in the turbulent flow comparing to the laminar flow.

In this study, two dimensional non-steady state problem was formulized by boundary element method (BEM). This formulization procedure was applied to the heat storage system in soil. It was concluded that the theoretical solution was well coincided with the numerical solution by BEM. This study demonstrates that this procedure is a powerful numerical method using personal computer.

In this paper, the quantities of the solid waste, generated from the university campus, was investigated. The physical and chemical characteristics of the waste were also surveyed to propose the effective treatment method and the management scheme for the reuse and the effective use of waste. The waste was sorted into the eight components at a transfer station. The quantities of each component and total components were measured. The moisture content and ash content were calculated. The three constituents and low heating value of the waste were estimated. The current problems and the engineered solution to waste management are presented.

In this study, electrochemical oxidation has been applied to remove cyanide and ammonia in industrial wastewater. The purpose of this study was to identify competitive electrochemical oxidation of cyanide and ammonia compound in artificially synthesized wastewater in laboratory experiments. It was proven that both compounds prefer indirect oxidation over direct oxidation, and that the selectivity of electrochemical oxidation for cyanide was higher than for ammonia.

This Study was undertaken for a better understanding of vertical pipe systems which use the ground itself as storage material. A theoretical analysis employing the Laplace transform has been developed with a two dimensional model of heat conduction in circular cylindrical coordinates. A boundary condition of heat flux is given. The solutions are given by dimensionless forms and compared with Carslaw's and Kelvin's model. In the analysis, flow rate inside the pipe, convection heat transfer coefficient by low, and overall heat transfer coefficient on the pipe are considered. These parameters have not been considered before. The effects of the above mentioned parameters for the thermal characteristics are discussed in this paper. And the result is applied to district heating and cooling system.
