Simulation of injection-compression molding for thin and large battery housing

Injection compression molding (ICM) is an advantageous processing method for producing thin and large polymeric parts in a robust manner. In the current study, we employed the ICM process for an energy-related application, i.e., thin and large polymeric battery case. A mold for manufacturing the battery case was fabricated using injection molding. The filling behavior of molten polymer in the mold cavity was investigated experimentally. To provide an in-depth understanding of the ICM process, ICM and normal injection molding processes were compared numerically. It was found that the ICM had a relatively low filling pressure, which resulted in reduced shrinkage and warpage of the final products. Effect of the parting line gap on the ICM characteristics, such as filling pressure, clamping force, filling time, volumetric shrinkage, and warpage, was analyzed via numerical simulation. The smaller gap in the ICM parting line led to the better dimensional stability in the finished product. The ICM sample using a 0.1mm gap showed a 76% reduction in the dimensional deflection compared with the normal injection molded part.

Indoor air quality becomes of a concern recently in view of human health. This study investigates the air diffusion performance and the air change efficiency of a classroom, when outdoor air is introduced in addition to the heating/cooling operation of a ceiling-mounted heat pump. A CFD analysis has been performed to investigate the effect of the discharge angle of the air jets from the heat pump for both parallel and series types of outdoor air system. It is observed that the series type creates more uniform indoor environment compared to the parallel type in general. It can be concluded the discharge angle should not be larger than 40o for the parallel type, in order not to generate thermal stratification in the room.

Indoor air quality (IAQ) and thermal comfort are the most important considerations for the indoor environment as modern people spend more time indoors. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems can maintain good IAQ and thermal comfort, which are increasingly important. It also provides optimal fresh or conditioned air to occupied spaces while effectively removing contaminants and excess heat. In addition, these systems are classified into a displacement ventilation system and a mixing ventilation system according to the air distribution method. Since the target building of this study is a factory with high floor heights, the lower area where workers are active must maintain high indoor air quality. This study was conducted to select an air distribution method that the workers were satisfied with. After evaluating the average temperature and average local mean age, it was confirmed that the displacement ventilation system was the optimal ventilation system.

In this study, we analyze space alternation, which is shown pre-development and post-development in the reconstruction apartment. We point out problems in terms of the city and dwelling environment, and in looking for drawing up a plan for improvement as well. As a result of our research, we offer some important observations and conclusions. Ourdoor space of the site after the reconstruction caused inconvenience to the residents due to the plan for high-storeys, high-density, And the building shape and arrangement provide changeable conditions form line figures to variable figures due to courtyard patterns. The courtyard space changes into a parking area ; therefore the outdoor site gives worse circumstances.
