To satisfy the demand of higher cutting performance, mechanical properties with tungsten carbide (WC-Co) tool materials were investigated. Hardness and transverse rupture strength with WC grain size, Co content and density were measured. Compared to H, K, and S manufacture maker as tungsten carbide (WC-Co) tool materials were used for high-speed machining of end-milling operation. The three tungsten carbide (WC-Co) tool materials were evaluated by cutting of STD 11 cold-worked die steel (HRC25) under high-speed cutting condition. Also, tool life was obtained from measuring flank wear by CCD wear measuring system. Tool dynamometer was used to measure cutting force. The cutting force and tool wear are discussed along with tool material characteristics. Consequently, the end-mill of K, H manufacture maker showed higher wear-resistance due to its higher hardness, while the S maker endmill tool showed better performance for high metal removal.

The investigation for microscopic precision of workpiece is necessary for machinability evolution and the environmentally conscious machining technology have more important position in machining process. In the milling process, the cutting fluid has greatly bad influence on the environment. The damaged layer affect machine parts in machining. In this study, the cutting force, cutting temperature, Von-Mises stress, and plastic deformation layer according to variation of cooling and lubrication method is investigated by simulation and experiment. And the surface roughness is evaluated according to machining environment. Finally, it is obtained that the characteristics of damaged layer in environmentally conscious machining is better than that conventional machining using cutting fluid.
절삭력 신호를 이용한 마이크로 엔드밀의 수명 예측에 관한 연구

The prediction of tool life is one of the most important factors for increasing reliability, stability, and productivity of manufacturing system. This paper deals with a tool life prediction method in view of reliability assessment for micro endmill. In this study, flank wear was focused among multi-factors deciding the tool wear state. The magnitude of flank wear and cutting force have been measured in micro endmilling with high revolution air turbine spindle. The proposed monitoring method using cutting force is effective for predicting tool life of micro endmill. Therefore, this technique can be applicable to micro machining processes monitoring in the near future.
지오투어리즘 관점에서 본 일본 산인해안(山陰海岸) 지오파크

산인해안 지오파크는 지형경관, 공간적 분포 특성을 고려하여 ①돗토리해안사구권, ②우라도메-아나미 해안권, ③하마사카(다지마)-다케노 해안권, ④겐부도 공원권 등 4개 권역으로 나눌 수 있다. 돗토리 해안사구권은 해안사구지형, 우라도메-아나미 해안권은 리아스식해안 및 화강암해안지형, 하마사카(다지마)-다케노 해안권은 화산암 해안지형이 각각 특징적으로 발달한 곳이다. 겐부도 공원권은 내륙 화산지형이 발달한 곳으로 대규모 수직 및 수평주상절리지형을 전형적으로 관찰할 수 있다. 특히 이곳은 ‘현무암’이라는 암석 명칭이 유래한 곳이며, 세계 최초로 지자기역전 현상이 발견된 역사적인 장소이기도 하다. 산인해안 지오파크를 구성하는 4개 권역은 ①2박 3일, ②3박 4일, ③4박 5일 등 3개 탐방 코스로 조합하여 운영할 수 있다. 4개 권역 중 요나고 국제공항이 인접해 있고 호텔 등 각종 편의 시설이 가장 잘 갖춰진 곳은 돗토리 해안사구권이므로 3개 코스 모두 돗토리 해안사구권을 기본코스로 정하고 여기에 다른 3개 권역을 추가하는 조합이 가장 효율적일 것으로 판단된다. Kaigan Geopark is divided into 4 zones: ①Tottori Sand Dunes zone, ② Uradome - Anami Coast zone, ③ Hamasaka (Tajima) - Takeno Coast zone, and ④ Genbudo Park zone. Tottori Sand Dunes zone, Uradome- Anami Coast zone, and Hamasaka (Tajima) - Takeno Coast zone are characterized by coastal dune, rias coast & granite coastal landform, and volcanic coastal landform, respectively. In Genbudo Park zone where interior volcanic topography has been developed, we can view the typical large-scale vertical and horizontal columnar joints. In particular, as the place from which the rock name “Hyonmuam” was derived, this place is also a historical place where geomagnetic reversal was discovered for the first time in the world. These 4 zones making up Sanin Kaigan Geopark can be operated with the combination of three travel courses: ① two nights and three days, ② three days and four nights, and ③ four days and five nights. Among them, Tottori Sand Dunes zone is the place close to Yonago airport and is adequately equipped with a variety of facilities including hotels. Therefore, if you add the three other zones with Tottori Sand Dunes zone as the basic course for all three courses, such will be considered the most efficient operating combination.
