This study was mainly concerned with the predictor of the piagetian cognitive levels of An Yang Girls High School Students from the following seven predictor variables: (1) science achievement; (2) field-independent/field-dependent cognitive style; (3) intelligence quotient; (4) age; (5) verbal score; (6) mathematic score;and (7) high school class rank. The Burney Logical Reasoning Test was used as an instrument for the determination of the Piagetian cognitive levels of the students. Science achievement was measured by administering the Sequential Test of Educational Progress (Science From IA). Fidle-independent/field-dependent cognitive style was measured by the Group Embedded Figures Test. The sample used for this study consisted of 100 girl students selected randomly from 12th grade of the An Yang Gils High School, An Yang, Korea. Three statistical methods were utilized to treat the data: (1) the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient; (2) the stepwise method;and (3) the Tukey jackknife cross-validation. The findings of this study demonstrated that: (1) only 31 percent of the sample was found to work at the formal operational level; (2) the intelligence quotient, math score, science achievement, and field-independent/field-dependent cognitive style were correlated very significantly (P<0.01) with the Piagetian cognitive levels; (3) a subset of the predictor variables including intelligence quotient, math score, and high school class rank was selected by the stepwise method to be included in the prediction equation of the Piagetian cognitive developmental level; (4) the predictive validity determined by the corrected cross-validation R-square of the stepwise prediction equation was found to be 0.202. In general, the findings of this study imply that substantial percentage of the 12th grade girl students belong to the cognitive level lower than formal operations. Therefore the school administrator should encourage faculty members to understand the cognitive levels of their students and develop curriculum which might enhance students' cognitive development. On the basis of the findings in this study, it seems to be necessary to place more emphasis on science curricular activities of science and mathematics and to help students become field-independent in their cognitive style in order to promote their cognitive development. Prediction equation developed in this study can be used in predicting the Piagetian cognitive levels of 12th grade girl students by employing readily available predictor variables.

and others underwent flash goggle VEPs. Results : Brain imaging were abnormal in 29 and were normal in 2. Of the 29 abnormal scans, lesions in posterior visual pathway were detected in 21 scans(predictive value=68%). The predictive value ws not significantly different between flash goggle VEP(75%) and pattern reversal VEP(68%). The predictive value was higher in patient with visual field defect(100%) than those without visual field defect(25%). The pathologic nature of lesion also showed close relations to the predictive value. VEPs is usually paradoxically lateralized(78%), but in all patients. Conclusion : VEPs abnormalities suggesting retrochiasmal lesion were usually corresponded with brain MRI findings. Diagnostic reliability could be increased when considering the visual field defect and nature of lesion. Therefore, the authors suggest that VEPs studies could be useful in evaluating the patients with the retrochismal lesion.

The cause of Parkinson's disease(PD) is unknown. Research has concentrated on genetics, exogenous toxins, and endogenous toxins from cellular oxidative reactions. Familial occurrence of PD has been reported, but the role of genetics in the etiology of PD has long been controversial. We presented a case of married couple who acquired the PD at the age of around 60.

차세대 무선통신 ‘ZigBee’ 는 표준인준으로 상용화가 임박하였으며, 저전력을 장점으로 홈 네트워크에 가장 적합한 것으로 평가되고 있다. 그래서 우리는 이러한 ZigBee 통신과 현재 가장 보편화 되어있는 휴대용 단말기인 휴대폰을 이용하여 원거리에서 가정을 감시 및 제어 할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하였다.

저자들은 40세 남자에서 기관지동맥조영술 후 나타난 일시적인 피질맹을 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Cortical blindness refers to the loss of vision produced by lesions affecting geniculocalcarine visual pathways. The most common causes of cortical blindness are ischemic stroke, cardiac surgery, and cerebral angiography. Its characteristic clinical manifestations are: (1) bilateral partial or total blindness, (2) intact pupillary light reflexes and no abnormality in extraocular muscle movements, (3) normal ophthalmoscopic finding, (4) optokinetic nystagmus (may or may not be present). The possible mechanism of angiography-related cortical blindness is neurotoxicity of the contrast agents. Transient, symmetric enhancement in bilateral occipital lobes in CT or MRI is observed frequently. EEG is also an important diagnostic method. No specific treatment is known as effective, but several possible methods are suggested. We presented a case of transient cortical blindness after bronchial arteriography.

WEBINO syndrome refers to the condition of bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia with exotropia in the primary position. The pathophysiology of the exotropia is uncertain and this type of INO has no specific anatomical correlate. This condition was reported in the patients with multiple sclerosis, occlusive vascular disease, tuberculous granuloma, and small cell lung carcinoma. We report a 41-year-old man who manifested bilateral exotropia, bilateral INO, and paralysis of convergence without structural lesion on brain MRI.
