Long-range Attraction due to the Flexibility Between Two Membranes
고동욱 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.11
The effects of flexibility on the interaction between charged membranes are studied theoretically. It is known that the charge fluctuation can causes an attraction between equally charged membranes, but the shape fluctuation plays an opposite role. For tensionless biological membranes, while the repulsion barrier due to the flexibility appears at small distances, we have found that the flexibility gives rise to the long-range attraction, and that the asymmetry of the flexibility reduces the effect of the flexibility.
