The main conditions that have to be fulfilled in elliptical sentences are recoverability and licensing. One way of implementing this recoverability condition is with the notion of e-GIVENESS used in Merchant (2001). This recoverability relation between the ellipsis site and the antecedent is a semantic identity condition. It has been proposed, however, that the ellipsis site and the antecedent have to be syntactically identical as well. There has been some debate on the relation between the antecedent and the ellipsis and on whether ellipsis requires strict syntactic identity or not. However, this paper aims to re-examine the structural isomorphism and exploit the syntactic identity condition to license ellipsis phenomena especially in sluicing. This paper also shows that, once the PF-deletion approach is adopted, the syntactic/derivational constraints involved in the definition of the ellipsis domain and the characterization of the licensor can be elegantly stated in phasal terms. That is, the domain of ellipsis coincides with the complement of a phase head that is deleted at PF and only phase heads can license the PF-deletion of their complement.

In this paper the reverse link of the GLOBALSTAR-the representative CDMA LEO satellite system and LEO mobile satellite channel are developed by the SPW software simulation tool. And the performance of the system is evaluated. GLOBALSTAR is designed to give cellular-type service to hand-held user terminals through a constellation of 48 LEO satellites in circular orbites with 1414 Km altitude. Since LEO mobile satellite system communicates with mobile unit, it is suffered from severe multipath fading and shadowing. The fast mobility of LEO satellites makes the channel condition time vering. So, the LEO mobile satellite channel is different from land mobile channels. In this unique LEO satellite channel, it is shown that the performance of the GLOBALSTAR reverse link is varied according to the elevational angle, but this variation is overcome by satellite path diversity.

The main focus of my analysis is the sluicing phenomenon, which is form of wh-stranding ellipsis. The ability to make the inference that the wh element should be interpreted as scoping over that material is determined by the presence of a suitable antecedent clause. It has been proposed that the ellipsis site and the antecedent have to be syntactically identical. Merchant(2001) calls this requirement the ‘structural isomorphism condition on ellipsis’. Neuroblastoma arises from the primitive neural crest cells, and is a common malignancy in childhood. The clinical features are characterized by biological heterogeneity. Neuronal degeneration and differentiation occur in some patients. However treatment in the high risk group accounting for approximately half, has not been satisfactory despite a multimodal approach. Therefore, effective treatment is determined by the risk group of prognostic factors, such as age at diagnosis, stage of disease, pathological finding and N-myc amplification. Neuroblastoma can be diagnosed prenatally, which suggests its origin during the normal embryogenesis. Recent knowledge of molecular biology, such as Trk genes, and the concept of cancer stem cells have given us some improved understanding on this disease. Currently, targeted therapies based on the molecular biology of neuroblastoma are under investigation and increasing survival rate and decreasing late complications could be appreciated.

The immune system is comprised of cells and molecules whose collective and coordinated response to the introduction of foreign substance is referred to as the immune response. Defense against microbes is mediated by the early reaction (innate immunity) and the late response (adaptive immunity). Innate immunity consists of the epithelial barrier, phagocytes, complement and natural killer cells. Adaptive immunity, a more complex defense reaction, consists of activation of later-developed lymphocytes that, when stimulated by exposure to infectious agents, increase in magnitude and defensive capabilities with each successive exposure. In this review we discuss recent advances in important primary immune deficiency disorders of innate immunity (chronic granulomatous disease, leukocyte adhesion deficiency) and adaptive immunity (severe combined immune deficiency, Wiskott- Aldrich syndrome).

소아에서 G-CSF로 체내 증폭된 동종 골수를 이용한 조혈모세포 이식의 조기 생착

연구배경: G-CSF를 골수 이식전에 공여자에게 주입하면 조혈모세포를 체내 증폭시켜 많은 양의 골수계 전구세포를 얻을 수 있다. 방법: 서울대학교 어린이병원 소아과에서 공여자에게 G-CSF 10μg/kg/일을 2일간 피하 주사한 후 동종 골수 이식을 시행한 급성 백혈병 7례와 만성 골수성 백혈병 1례 등 8례를 조사하였다. 전처치는 busulfan과 cyclophosphamide로 하였고 이식편대 숙주 반응의 예방은 cyclosporine과 prednisolone으로 하였다. 결과: 환자에게 주입된 골수의 평균 유핵 세포 수는 9.73×10^(8)/kg(범위 4.8-17.4×10^(8)/kg)였고, ANC가 500/uL와 1,000/uL 이상 되는데 걸리는 정중 시간은 각각 9일과 10일이었다. 혈소판이 수혈 없이 20,000/uL 이상 되는데 걸리는 정중 시간은 12일이었다. 심한 이식편대 숙주 반응을 보인 환자는 없었고 한명만 골수 이식 18개월 후에 골수에 재발했고 나머지 환아는 이식 후 2-21개월간 관해 상태이다. 결론: G-CSF로 체내 증폭시킨 골수 이식은 일반 동종 골수 이식이나 말초혈액 조혈모세포 이식의 좋은 대안이 될 것이며 특히 공여자의 체중이 적은 소아 골수 이식에서 유용할 것이다. 적절한 G-CSF 투여 방법에 대해서는 더욱 연구가 필요하리라 생각된다. Background: Growth factor administration to donors prior to bone marrow (BM) harvesting results in an enrichment of the graft for myeloid precursors. Methods: Eight patients received an HLA-identical sibling allogeneic BM transplantation using granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-stimulated BM. Stimulation consisted of G-CSF 10μg/kg/day S.C. for 2 days prior to harvest. Patients were 7 acute leukemia and 1 chronic myelogenous leukemia. Conditioning regimens consisted of busulfan and cyclophosphamide. The GVHD prophylaxis consisted of cyclosporine and prednisolone. Results: Mean number of total nucleated cells in the infused BM was 9.73×10^(8)/kg(range 4.8-17.4×10^(8)/kg). The median day of ANC ≥ 500/uL and ≥ 1,000/uL was 9 and 10, respectively. The median day of platelet count ≥ 20,000/uL without transfusion was 12. None of the patients developed severe GVHD. One patient relapsed 18 months after transplantation. The remaining seven patients are alive and in complete remission 2-21 months post-BMT. Conclusion: Stimulated BM may provide a valuable alternative to allogeneic BM and PBSC. It may also be useful if donor size is small. Ideal stimulation regimens need to be investigated.

영어 수문문에서 전치사의 수의적 출현에 따른 문장 수용성에 관한 한국인 영어학습자와 원어민 간의 비교연구

This paper aims to experimentally investigate the sentence acceptability of English sluicing constructions with prepositions between Korean English learners and native speakers. It further explores the correlation between linguistic processing and detailed sentence effects. It seeks to explore the interplay of complex factors between sentence levels and linguistic processing, beyond the syntactic identity in ellipsis licensing. It also aims to understand the universal language processes, including the interaction with sentence elaboration effects. The experiment result shows that the acceptability becomes significantly higher in the sentence with the occurrence of preposition. Especially for Korean EFL learners, the presence of the subject kukey ‘it’ was found to have an effect on facilitating parsing. .
