The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of reflective insulation system(RIS) and examine the thermal resistance of air space within various RIS. RIS is a type of thermal insulation with one or more reflective surface including one or more enclosed air space. In this study, the thermal resistances of single air space facing the reflective surface are 0.26㎡ㆍK/W at 10㎜, 0.43㎡ K/W at 20㎜ and 0.45㎡ㆍK/W at 30㎜ respectively. There is no difference in thermal resistance when the enclosed air space is facing single reflective surface or both reflective surfaces. The result shows that RIS with EPS(thermal conductance : 0.032W/mㆍK) and reflective insulation materials can reduce the insulation thickness about 27% than EPS only. Because the insulation performance of RIS depends on the thickness and temperature of air space, direction of heat flux, emissivity of surface facing air space and so forth, the more detailed evaluation should be done before applying RIS.

The purpose of this study was to achieve preliminary data of wind effects on condensation performance of window though experiments. Seven different windows were used to test in artificial climate chamber under the same indoor and outdoor temperature condition with only change in wind speed. We measured surface temperature of windows and calculated ratio of temperature decrease to evaluate the performance of windows. From the test result, the surface temperature of window decreased maximum of 7℃ in 6~8㎧ wind speed, which we concluded, wind effects the performance of window from the experiments.

On trends of 'well-being', heat recovery ventilators(HRV) are recently installed in high rise buildings. HRV is not energy saving instrument but ventilating one. But many people have not been aware of the accurate fact. In this study, performances of HRV are tested under foreign and domestic standards. Especially air-tightness is measured three times by using gas concentration method and pressing equipment. Net effective ventilating air volume is acquired by solving gas concentration equations. After research air-tightness and effective ventilating air volume must be more focused on than heat transfer efficiency to select the optimal HRV. Heat transfer efficiency must be adjusted by air-tightness results.

In Korea, apartment housing is usually located near road continuously causing complaints morf traffic noise and outdoor environment noise. Mainly, noise from outdoor is blocked by building facade such outer wall, windows and so on. Recently, the deletion of the balcony space results in falling the sound insulation performance. Accordingly, in order to isolate the noise, sound insulaton performance of windows are very important. In this research, 7 type of windows are investigated by sound insulation performance. And sound intensity measurement is performed to find the sound defect area of windows.

On trend of ‘wellbeing’, installation of large gas range hood has taken place in recent times in the domestic super high-rise & high-quality apartments to improve the life quality in Korea. Due to the lack of sufficient information on the performance level of these hoods, however, the construction industry is forced to rely on each supplier’s simple catalogue. But most of these suppliers can not afford any independent performance testing of their own products, resulting a credibility problem. At the same time, due to the height and pressure difference between the upper-level floor and the ground level, occurrences of significant foul ordure have been reported because of the back flow of its ventilation circulation from vertical duct, resulting a lower quality of life of the tenants. So residents claim for the bad indoor quality, asserting all responsibility are belong to construction company. To solve this situation, first of all, to know and test the hoods sold in market thoroughly, especially performance, may be the first step and critical. Purpose of this research is to acquire the method to select the optimal gas range hood through the performance test under KS or prEN codes, such as performance curve, noise level, capture efficiency and power consumption and the reasonable grounds to adapt the optimal one to our construction fields. After research, to bestow weigh function on noise level is considered more important item than any others. Additionally, the comparison general hoods and functional hoods was accomplished under economical efficiency.
