Vol.20 No.5

This study is to follow the studies, which were conducted in Moon island between July and October in 2010. The previous studies, which were conducted by Lim, Hyun-soo and Kang Eun-suk in 2010, studied the current status of education of divers by classifying it into five subjects such as diving science, diving equipment, diving safety, underwater environment, and diving activities through FGI of expert groups. Being aware of the lack of materials about the observation of non-fulfillment of education on diving equipment and underwater environment and interviews, we made visits to the spots where the previous studies were conducted between July 28 and August 2nd to newly add up materials on interviews and questionnaires and analysed the cause and problems of the educational non-fulfillment about diving equipment and underwater environment. The educational non-fulfillment about diving equipment resulted in inappropriate management of equipment and loss of equipment, immature assembly of equipment of equipment, the loss of waist belts, and diving knife"s inappropriate use. The educational non-fulfillment about underwater environment brought about the damage of underwater environment, panic by underwater environment, conflicts with fishing villages, and the problems of trash-littering and defecation.

Vol.26 No.3

This study is based on the perception that the lecture-assessment systems work well in their fairness and necessity when they are customized into specific majors. I divided the problems in lecture-assessment systems into the three categories. First, what are the problems lying in the learners" side? Second, what"re the problems in the side of teachers? Third, what could be done to rectify them? The research method is FGI(focus group interview) which involves research participants and teachers. The findings show that, firstly, learners have such problems as indifference to the system as they are busy athletes or hired workers, and emotionally biased responses to lectures. As for the teachers, they have such problems as misunderstanding that they are evaluated as humans, not the lectures being evaluated, teachers" flattering to the learners to ask better evaluations, the lack of scientific teaching methods, and the lack of self-reflection over the poor evaluations. We need to better manage the teachers with regard to the assessment results, the selection process of who will be assessed, and the scientific selection of assessment items, the finding shows. I hope my research will contribute to developing the basic materials of lecture-assessment systems.

Vol.26 No.3

This study started with the point of view that, in spite of the grave importance of the keen awareness of safety in sports climbing, no serious academic attention has been paid to this matter. As a research method, I myself took part in the sports climbing fields, extracting the factors about safety problems through observations and interviews, and codifying the contents from the interviews. The results of the research are follows: First, the main problem is there is no standard manual about education, which makes the educational contents vary according to who the teachers are and the education itself disorganized. We need the standard manuals about the education. Second, there are too many disqualified teachers, which also give birth to numerous groups with elusive expertise. We need to establish the expert groups to conduct the education. Third, the teachers themselves have no keen sense of safety, blindly trusting their equipment, even though their gears are not so excellent in the safety aspects. I hope this study will help the sports climbers to be more aware of the safety matters.

Vol.26 No.2

This study was conducted just like a report as a material to be used in making the safety manuals, using the word, “Ski helmet”, based on the urgency of the study in providing the insight into what people’s perception of ski safety is like. As for the research methods, I tried to reach the conclusions through the observations and interviews with teachers and learners who took part in college ski courses, those working for the ski gear rental agency, and those conducting safety patrols. The research conclusions could be derived from each situation that I faced when conducting the interviews and other information acquired from the fields. AS for the awareness of ski safety, as only 45.2% skiers wear helmets, the safety awareness about ski is not so high in Korea. The reason they don’t wear the safety gears like helmets is that they feel it uncomfortable to wear them, having no experience of any safetyrelated incidents and the subsequent insensitivity to safety. My conclusion is that it is very important that the teachers teaching ski skills must show their own habits of wearing safety gears to the students before making it obligatory for them to wear them while skiing, which is the best way to improve the safety in ski fields.

Vol.26 No.2

This study is to show the process and its effectiveness of Havruta teaching methods in university physical education class, in particular the partner teaching methods of the Havruta. The approach of the research is divided into the two sections: the application and the effectiveness of learning. As for the application, the designed teaching curriculum is a strict guidance that was put into action along with the research. When Havruta was applied, enough feedback was provided to the learners. The instructors said they felt they needed to be better prepared for actual sport skills for the class. They turned out to be capable of being equipped with the ability to apply havruta. The educational effectiveness can have advantages but there are also some disadvantages. The advantages are to make the learners review what they learned and make it possible for them to take oral exams. In addition, I could confirm the learners came to have the better abilities to apply what they had learned. Compared to ordinary learners, they also had relatively higher understanding of theories. As for the teachers, they also came to have better teaching skills. The disadvantages are the learners have short attention spans when studying this way. And they can have the opportunity to review what they learned but hardly have the opportunity to study what they will learn in advance. In conclusion, the teaching skills are very important when applying Havruta methods, which means the keen judgement of teachers are necessary when using this approach.

Vol.25 No.6

This study is to look into the cause and patterns of body-building fad on SNS or social networking sites and try to verify what are its positive impacts and negative impacts. The research methods are like follows. There are three stages of researches in which DRS techniques were used. In the first round, in collecting basic data and its analysis, I conducted interviews based on narrative approaches without any predesignated structures, by which I developed questionnaires. In the second, I carried out the frequency analysis through the questionnaires developed in the first. In the third, I had face-to-face consultations with experts, applying 5whytechiques about the questionnaires. The results of the study shows the three causes of the fad and the three pattern categories. The causes are: 1.enhancing the possibility of “I can do” 2. the burst of individuals’ desires to express themselves getting along with the evolution of SNS 3. the addictive pleasures to the positive responses from the follow SNS users, which keep them using the SNS. The patterns are: 1. to maintain SNS’s current status 2. to make money 3.to share knowledge and methods with others. This study tried to avoid over-generalization of the sports-sociological phenomenon shown through the body-building fad on the SNS but tried to describe it as objectively as possible, which is to provide meaningful implications to how to contribute to the creation of constructive body-building culture in our society.

Vol.25 No.5

This study started to look into how Taekwondo gyms can overcome the management crisis. To do so, I used the theories from the study of failures established by Hatamura Yotaro in 2002, which is to find out what created the failures, rather than how to succeed. The study methods include surveys on study participants, along with the interviews with them, which gets mixed with explanatory designs. The results go as follows. First, as for the reason why they fail, they should look at the instructors’ motivations, characteristics, and the subsequent management outputs. Second, as for the contexts of failures, they can understand why they failed if they structurize the failures and generalize the factors of failures. Third, as for the reason why the failures repeat, the instructors fail to expect the structures and contexts of failures so that they repeat which can have a kind of spiral pattern. They need to pay a particular attention to this. Fourth, as for the successful management methods, I proposed the law of three out of one thousand times, the pitfall of failures, the detailed plans to prevent failures, and simulation for problem-solving practices.

Vol.25 No.3

This study started from the recognition that, in spite of their tremenuous importance, no pre-arranged measures or manuals exist for emergent situations and proper safety measures in Taekwondo gyms. The study was conducted through the questionairs filled out by Taekowndo instructors and interviews with specialists. As for the accident cases, the major criteria of the study are the environmental accidents such as fires in locker rooms and injuries from the glass doors, the epidemic illnesses between students, the accidents happening on the way home after the training, and the accidents resulting from the negligence of duty in the teachers’ side. As for the problems in the preventive measures, the major criteria of the study are the poor awareness of safety problems along with the subsequent mismanagement of safety procedures, the lack of safetry-related education, and the lack of safety-related standard procedures.

Vol.25 No.3

This study started from the supposition that sport major students are not immune from plagiarism. I tried to analyze the reasons, the patterns, and the problems lying on the instructors’ side, when it comes to plagiarism. By using the sequential Quan-Qual analysis, along with the triangulation between case studies, questionnaire analysis, and interviews on subjects, I tried to enhance the credibility of the study. The research shows the reasons why they illegally copy others’ work are the advanced media like the Internet, the lack of ethical education, and the low awareness about the matter. It also shows the patterns are usually using the Internet, the borrowing-and-lending of names between seniors and juniors, and illegal copying from various sources. As for the problems on the side of instructors, they are repeated assignments, and their low awareness about how serious this problem is. I am looking forwards to helping them understand this matter more deeply.

Vol.22 No.6

This is about the chiefs of marine centers who are in charge of education by letting the trainees experience what the marine activities are really like, as they are in the first line of defence of marine leisure activities. As for the research method, I employed a mixed model approach; the survey of questionnaires as well as interviews of the attendees, basically centering on a narrative approach. I believed this kind of method would enhance the credibility and validity of the study. The research findings could be summarized in three main points as follows. First, chiefs in the centers have peculiar points of views about the center and attendees, which are totally different from others, which is basically because they are the leaders. This kind of social mentality mainly comes from their abundant experiences, their sense of duty, and their strong sense of ownership. Secondly, they feel humiliated when they are regarded just as money-collecting business owners but, nevertheless, they still put strong emphasis on the business aspects as the "reality is realty." They are doing their best to come up with the ways to expand their businesses and raise the profits. For example, they try to use government subsidies as much as possible. Their financial woe is especially deep when it comes to off-seasons. Lastly, they feel rewarded when there is a good evaluation about their education afterwards. But they fee! a little frustrated when the attendees demand fun activities rather than "education", as they are strongly aware of themselves as educators, not entertainment providers.
