Purpose: To investigate the factors affecting the visual outcome after a scleral buckle in a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment involving the macula. Methods: A retrospective survey of 70 eyes was carried out. The preoperative factors examined in this study included the preoperative visual acuity, the patient‘s age, the duration of macular detachment, the extent of the detached retina, the location of the retinal hole, and the surgical procedure. The correlation between these factors and the postoperative visual outcome were investigated. Results: The factors related to a favorable visual outcome were the preoperative visual acuity, age, the duration of macular detachment, surgical procedure, and the location of the retinal hole. A preoperative visual acuity of 0.1 or more, an age of 30 years or less, a detached retina of 2 quadrants or less, and duration of macular detachment of 7 days or less were factors that indicated a favorable visual outcome. The surgical procedure and the location of the retinal hole were not associated with the visual outcome. Conclusions: The factors related to a favorable visual outcome were a preoperative visual acuity of 0.2 or higher, an age of 30 or less, a detached retina of 2 quadrants or less, and duration of the macular detachment of 7 days or less. The location of the retinal hole, however, did not affect the visual outcome.

Computer in one of the most tremendous achievements of the modern scientific technique. Not only in government, business, research and education but in our daily life, computers are widely utilized to assist in solving various problems. With increasing frequency, it is recognized that a right understanding of the computer is necessary: naturally, this recognition places a great emphasis on the computer education. In Korea computer is chosen either as an optional subject or as a kind of group activity in many schools. It is the purpose of this study to compare and analyze the internal sorting algorithms which are used frequently in data processing, and to present the results of program analysis, which will make it possible to choose the appropriate sorting algorithm for each data processing. Generally the algorithms are coded in a language appropriate for structured programming, like PASCAL: however, here the algorithms are expressed in BASIC which is widely used with the personal computers so that the students and the teachers may understand them easily.

University Research Centers specialized in defense technology(DURCs) were designed to develop fundamental knowledge and to acquire core technologies related to defense development by conducting creative and interdisciplinary research. The centers also have a function of fostering scientists and practitioners possessing defense-oriented cross-disciplinary knowledges. Since the outset of the DURC in 1994, Sixteen DURCs have been funded and eleven DURCs are now in operation. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the operational status and the performance of DURCs and to suggest ideas on improving the effectiveness of the DURC program by comparing with the Korea Excellent Research Center program and the U.S. National Science Foundation(NSF) Engineering Research Center(ERC) program.

Research on voice is a growing topic among management scholars. Despite the abundance of studies demonstrating the importance and benefits of voice in teams, there is little understanding regarding manager responses to voice and its consequences in terms of the recipient’s perspective. Specifically, the effects of manager traits on managerial response to employee voice have received scant attention. The goal of this study is to address these important gaps by focusing on the role of manager motivational orientation systems as an important individual trait within the managerial endorsement process and its consequences. By drawing on social persuasion theory and approach/avoidance motivation theory, we propose that (1) two types of voice content (promotive voice and prohibitive voice) impact managerial endorsement differently; (2) approach-oriented managers are more likely to endorse both types of voice than avoidance-oriented managers, although both types of managers prefer to listen and endorse promotive voice more frequently than prohibitive voice; and (3) the interaction between manager motivational system (approach-oriented or avoidance-oriented) and voice content results in the differentiated performance evaluation of the voicer through increased or decreased managerial endorsement. This research conceptually discusses the effect of two types of voice content on managerial endorsement, the role of manager motivational orientation in this relationship, and the consequences of the effects of the manager’s response to the voice by reviewing previous literature and developing several propositions without empirical evidence. This study also suggests theoretical contributions, practical implications, and directions for future research.
초음파 영상선호의 크기 변화에 따른 최적의 매니코어 프로세서 구조

본 논문은 휴대용 초음파 진단기기에서 초음파 영상 크기 변화에 따라 요구되어지는 저전력 및 고성능을 만족시키기 위한 최적의 매니코어 프로세서 구조를 제안한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 매니코어 프로세서 코어의 구조를 데이터의 크기에 따라 최대 일곱 가지의 프로세싱 엘리먼트(Processing Element, PE) 모델에서 성능 변화 및 전력 소모를 측정하였다. 모의실험 결과, 에너지 효율은 $256{\times}256$, $320{\times}240$, $800{\times}480$ 해상도를 갖는 영상에서 PE 수가 각각 1,024개, 64개, 256개 일 때 가장 높았다. 또한 $256{\times}256$와 $800{\times}480$ 해상도의 영상에서는 PE 수가 256개, $320{\times}240$ 해상도의 영상에서는 64개에서 가장 높은 면적 효율을 보였다. This paper proposes an optima] many-core processor architecture that meets the requirements of low power and high performance for different ultrasonic image resolutions in hand-held ultrasonic devices. To identify the optimal many-core architecture, seven different PE configurations are simulated for processing ultrasonic images in terms of execution performance and energy consumption. Experimental results indicate that the highest energy efficiencies are achieved at PEs=1,024, 64, and 256 for ultrasonic images at $256{\times}256$, $320{\times}240$, and $800{\times}480$ resolutions, respectively. In addition, the maximum area efficiencies are obtained at PEs=256 (for $256{\times}256$ and $800{\times}480$ image resolutions) and 64 (for $320{\times}240$ image resolution).

Formation of highly active and porous structure electrocatalysts for watersplitting is a major challenge. Metal organic frameworks(MOFs) are one of the most promising precursors for developing advanced functional electrocatalysts with high porosity and structural merits. Herein, we report n-doped Co-CN nanoparticles are synthesized from core-shell zif-67/zif-8. Due to distinct reaction kinetics during MOF formation, partial distribution of different metals within a single MOF crystal can lead to sophisticate nanostructures by adding the two metals in sequence. Specifically, when Co2+ is added first, ZIF-67/ ZIF-8 core-shell nanoparticles are achieved with tunable core thickness depending on the time intervals. This strategy might offer new insights to synthesize with controllable structures and enhanced catalytic performances.
