        In the study, 1,190 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and dental clinics in the nation were surveyed with questionnaires in order to investigate the relationship between clinical dental hygienists' organizational commitment, turnover intention,and the related factors. The results were analyzed with SPSS win 9.0 and the conclusion is as follows. 1. The level of clinical dental hygienists organizational commitment was 3.1 and their turnover intention was 2.7. The highest-scored factor was accomplishment desire(3.51) and the lowest-scored factor was external motivation(2.62). 2. According to the type of working place, there were significant differences among turnover intention, vacational pride, accomplishment desire, coworkers' support. fringe benefits, fomality, communication, and work load. 3. According to the working region, there were significant differences in turnover intention, fringe benefits, formality, and work load. 4. According to the age, there were significant difference in all the other parameters except for external motivation, higher-up's supports, and formality. 5. According to experienced-years, there were significant differences in all the parameters except for higher-up's supports, coworkers' support, and the formality. 6. According to the turnover history, there were significant differences in vocational pride, external motivation, coworkers' supports, degree of centralization, communication. work load, work conflict, and work authority. 7. According to marriage, there were significant differences in all the other parameters except for accomplishment desire. external motivation, higher-up's supports, coworkers' supports. 8. According to the degree of burden on home, there were significant differences in centralization and work authority. 9. Organizational commitment and turnover intention showed a very significant counter-correlation. 10. Such parameters as turnover intention, higher-up's supports, vocational pride. work conflict. external motivation, centralization, coworkers' support, accomplishment desire, fringe benefits, and formality accounted significantly for the organizational commitment.

      • 대학신입생의 치면열구전색의식에 관한 연구

        The subjects of this study were 904 college students. Their recognition of pit and fissure sealing was checked to examine the content of popular education related to the sealing and the effective sealing methods. The results are as follows. 1. Their recognition rate of durable period of permanent tooth was 71.3%. 2. Their recognition rate of the first disease that causes permanent tooth to be pulled out was 85.8%. 3. Their recognition rate of recurrent caries phenomenon in pit and fissure was 46.8%. 4. Their recognition rate of cause of recurrent caries in pit and fissure was 51.2%. 5. Their recognition rate of prevention of ca ri es in pit and fissure sealing was 19.2%. 6. Their recognition rate of necessity of pit and fissure sealing was 24.3%. 7. 85.7% of the students hoped free service on pit and fissure sealing in school.

      • 치위생과 학생의 영양지식과 식행동에 관한 연구

        The study surveyed 262 students of 3 schools located in kyoung-gi province in order to examine nutritional knowledge and eating behavior of students of Department of Dental Hygiene and analyzed the results with SPSSWIN 9.0. The conclusions are as follows. 1. For fatness, 42.0% of the respondents was low weight, 47.7% normal, and 10.3% overweight. 2. For healthiness, 72.5% of them considered they are healthy, but 42.7% answered they had an irregular menstruation. 3. For living habits, 9.9% of the respondents had smoking experiences, 28.2% experienced the change of habit, 96.2% were not doing exercises. Especially, as to attempt to change living habits, there were statistically similar degree of according to residential types and wether or not take Dietetics. 4. The number of meal was twice a day, 60.7%, the most answered. Just 33.6% of the respondents took breakfast regularly. 5. The average and the standard deviation of total score on nutritional knowledge was 12.04±2.07. There were little differences between wether or not take Dietetics, those who took Dietetics showed 12.26±2.10 and those who not take 11.91±2.04, but statistically similar degree of for 5 items. From the above findings, it is required to deliver knowledge about nutrition and food, and to promote active attitude and practice motives to take nutritionally-balanced meal in order to lead a desirable dietary habit. Also, nutrition education for dental hygiene students should provide educational chances so that students can diagnose their dietary habits, find possible problems and correct them.

        Relationship among Maternal Sociodemographics, Oral Health Behavior, and the Prevalence of Early Childhood Caries

        The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of maternal socioeconomic status, maternal oral health behaviors, and oral health behaviors of children, on the prevalence of early childhood caries in children aged 5 years. The Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data collected between 2007 and 2014 were applied to this study, and the study sample included 824 children who received oral examinations and participated in the health behavior survey. The factor that affected the prevalence of early childhood caries were confirmed by maternal and child factors. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The mothers’ age, income level, and job status affected the prevalence of early childhood caries. There was a significant difference in the analysis considering the factors of motherhood and children in the prevalence of early childhood caries according to mother’s age, education level, income level, and the child’s oral examination. The prevalence of early childhood caries was higher in children who received oral examinations than in those who did not. When the mother’s educational level was higher than college education, it was found that the index of child, i.e., there was a difference in the prevalence of early childhood caries according to the mother’s educational and income levels. These results indicate that maternal socioeconomic characteristics are correlated with the oral health of children. Therefore, oral health education programs that include mothers for the prevention of early dental caries in children may improve the dental health of children. In addition, specific oral health policies are necessary to address the differences in the oral health between the income groups.

        초등학생 부모의 학교구강보건실 운영에 대한 요구도

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the demand for the change in effective operation of school dental health center by the elementary school parents. The parents of 4th grade students in 415 elementary schools nationwide where the school dental health center were available were selected from Sept. 1 to 30, 2014, to collect their self-survey. The analysis results of 1,408 copies for this survey were as follows. Awareness levels of school dental health center operations were shown to be 4.74 points for the importance on the dental health, 4.62 points for the needs of dental health educations, 4.46 points for the needs of dental health center, and 4.29 points for the improvement of brushing practice rate, with 3.67 points for overall awareness. The higher attitude for the operations of school dental health center were 4.49 points for brushing practice after meals, 4.36 points for regular dental examination, and 4.21 points for expansion of school dental health center with 4.11 points for overall attitude. To manage the school dental health center efficiently, 4 times a year was rated the most for both ‘proper period of dental health service provision’ and ‘proper frequency of school dental health education.’ Overall, the parents’ interest level was demonstrated to be very high in the operations of school dental health center to improve their children’s dental health. Hence, the national systemic and active policy supports should be provided to operate the school dental health center more efficiently.

        In the study, 346 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and dental clinics in Seoul were surveyed with questionnaires in order to investigate the relationship between clinical dental hygienists' job satisfaction and the related factors. The results were analyzed with SPSSWIN 9.0 program and the conclusion are as follows; 1. The index of clinical dental hygienists' job satisfaction was 2.93. Especially, according to the type of working place and the degree of burden of housekeeping expenses, there were significant differences in job satisfaction. 2. The index of clinical dental hygienists' turnover intention was 2.80. Especially, according to the type of working place, there were significant differences in turnover intention. 3. Job satisfaction and all the parameters except for desire for accomplishment showed a very significant correlation. 4. Turnover intention and all the parameters except for desire for accomplishment showed a very significant correlation. 5. Such parameters as compensation, duty conflict, coworker relation, centralization, and higher-ups' support accounted for the job satisfaction significantly. 6. Such parameters as welfare system, work load, self-confidence, and desire for accomplishment accounted for the turnover intention significantly. 7. Job satisfaction and turnover intention showed a very significant counter-correlation.
